  1. Ahh sorry, yes! I did! I said £30k as the value
  2. Well ... I'm eating my words! Called Sky, and they matched the quote I got from Reis! I guess I am one of the lucky ones! So I'll stay with Sky for now to avoid all the faffing-about with transferring no claims bonuses and bank details etc etc.
  3. According to the quote I got, you should have got 70% back for cancelling after 2 months. But I think this sort of thing is pretty standard practise for insurers. If I cancel after 5 months, I get 0% back. But I've had the car for 16 years, with no plans to sell, so I should be ok
  4. Got to say! I just gave Reis a call, and they quoted me £300 less than I paid with Sky last year! All mods, 600bhp etc etc. Very impressed. Sky are supposed to be giving me a renewal cost in the next days, but I will be stunned if they beat that! Nice recommendation, thanks!!
  5. Still here too! Year 16 with my same Supra, year 17 on the forum! Just about to have another round of significant upgrades! Just been living outside the UK for a while, so I don't spend as much time with the Supra as I should (but not adding any miles) ..... but still lurking
  6. Great, thanks all .... where are people ordering OEM parts from these days? It looks like I'm going to have to have the rear screen out soon anyway! Some builders from the house next door dropped a hammer off the roof! It hit my car, chipped the paint and left small dents in 3 places! The quote to fix and repaint it is about £1500 because they have to paint half of the car to get it to blend properly! And they are paying for it, of course . So at the same time, I thought I would get those window surrounds cleaned up as they are a mess! Thanks again, Cheers!!
  7. Hey folks, Has anyone done a refurb on the window/roof trim before? Mine is looking very tired and worn, and it's bringing down the overall look of the car, as you can see in the attached photos? Pretty much all of the exterior trim around the car is in the same sort of state, so I'd like to either refurbish it, or replace it with new trim if it's available. I believe this part specifically is called the Roof Drip Moulding, or something like that! Also, does anyone know how to remove this trim safely? I can see what looks like a metal clip when I look down inside the "gutter", but I'm reluctant to start hacking away at it without knowing exactly how it comes out!! Cheers! James
  8. Yeah, I did see the Pirelli's before, but all of the 285/40/18's are "Out of Stock", even the Toyo's and the Bridgestone's on the site you linked are "Out of Stock" in that size, which makes me wonder if they simply don't exist in these sizes anymore outside of the US. As soon as you drop the profile to 35, all of those brands/models are in stock and available. And I do take the car out in the rain, don't really have much of a choice in the UK! But I live abroad, so I'm only there 2-3 times a year for a week or so. So a good all-rounder is what I need.
  9. Ha! Well, yes, some seem to exist in the US. And half of the search results just take you to tyres that aren't actually the size you searched for. But if you put 295/40/18 or 285/40/18 at the top here - https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/ - it turns up blank Same goes here - https://www.tyrecomp.co.uk/ - if you put 295 or 285 in as the width, and 40 as the profile, it won't let you select 18" as a diameter. I also asked the tyre dealer I use, just in case, and they also confirmed that (in this case Eagle F1, Pilot Sport 4, Proxes and AD08R's) don't come in 295/40 or 285/40.
  10. Thanks all, I've been quoted £770 for Michelin Pilot Super Sports (fitted). But having watched the review videos, and considering the amount of use the car actually gets over the year, I must say the Falken Azenis FK510's are starting to appeal to me! They are a lot cheaper, but the review scores/ratings are almost the same as the Michelin's. If I was doing 10,000+ miles a year, then I would go for the Michelin's for sure, but right now at 500 or so miles a year, it seems overkill. Thanks again, Cheers
  11. Right, after trawling the internet for what feels like hours, I've come to a few conclusions: 1. 295/40/18 tyres don't exist 2. 285/40/18 tyres don't exist So if I want to keep 295's (or even 285's) on the rear, they will need to be 35 profile ones, and the choices are fairly limited. So I would have to go for something like Michelin Pilot Super Sport if I wanted a 295/35/18 and 245/35/18 match up. Or, as Scooter mentions, I drop down to 285 on the rear to open up more choice (Proxes, Eagle F1's, Pilots, Yokohama etc). Would I need to change anything on the wheels if I drop from 295 to 285, or will they just fit on without any problems? I suck at tyres Cheers!
  12. Thanks all for the responses so far! The Eagle F1's were on my short list, along with the Pilot Sport's. But the combination of 295/40/18 seems a bit tricky! Even 285/40/18 isn't supported by some (i.e. the Pilot Sport's). I'm a bit nervous about dropping from 295 to 285, as I've been using 295 for 16 years now, and I just know they fit/work on my car! But I guess it's not that much difference! And I'll take a look at the Yokohama's too! And I'll see what Toyo are offering these days too, as I had no issues at all with my old Proxes! Cheers!
  13. I'm probably doing less than 1000 miles a year .... the last 3 years have been under 500! I guess I would need an all-weather tyre that can handle a lot of power, and will keep things under control in the wet. I had the Eagle F1's before I had the Proxes. And it does seem very hard to find 295/40/18's, which is probably why I have the 295/35/18's on the rear. Thanks for the help so far! Cheers
  14. Howdy all, It's time for some new tyres, and I've been a bit out of the loop recently. My tyre setup at the moment is as follows: Fronts: Toyo Proxes T1-R 245/40ZR/18 97Y Rears: Toyo Proxes T1-S 295/35ZR/18 99Y I have no idea why my rears are a lower profile than the fronts! I don't remember why that happened, or whether it was by choice! I have plenty of tread left on the tyres, but the side-walls are starting to crack a bit as the car is left standing for most of the year under covers, but the elements still get to the tyres (I'm living outside the UK at the moment). What are the current tyres of choice? Are the Toyo Proxes still a thing? It was either those, or the Goodyear Eagle F1 in the past. As you can see, my rears are pretty wide, and there are some manufacturers where I've had trouble finding 295's that were 18". The car is running a little over 500bhp, but it's likely to rise again soon! And the plan now is to remove the wheels and leave the car on blocks when I'm not using it, then I can save the tyres from the weather for a little longer, as they are very unlikely to die on me from wear these days!! Any suggestions would be very welcome! Ideally ones that won't bankrupt me Cheers!
  15. Great, thanks guys! The Clifford 650 looks like a decent bit of kit! Might give Shervin a shout if he still has it. Problem is that I am out in Spain, and my car is on the driveway, under covers, just outside London
  16. Yeah, that's very true, and it was my other option! As I said, that alarm has been in the car since I got it in 2004, so I'm sure they are a lot more advanced now! If I replace it, I just need to find a good option!!
  17. Howdy folks, It's been a while, hope everyone is well? Quick question! Has anyone replaced just the siren on their alarm system? I have an old Clifford Concept system that's been on the car for around 15 years now! It works fine, but it seems that the actual siren has been sitting a bit too close to the turbo! It's basically melted everything in, and around, the siren so there is no longer any noise at all (sometimes a good thing with the sensitive proximity sensor). Does anyone know if it's possible just to replace the siren? I've had a look around Amazon, Ebay etc, but it's hard to tell whether I will end up with a novelty truck horn or something!! It doesn't look like Clifford sell spare ones either, at least not from what I have found. Thanks for any help! Cheers!
  18. Oh, you are right! I just had a look and they are in Farnborough now, that's very close! I'm there a lot! That's good to know, but I don't think there are any "travelling" F-CON mappers these days who I can get to come over there like Ryan used to. Are TDI South the ones over to the East of London, near the Dartford tunnel area? Might be worth a look too, it's just very difficult with me being away most of the time. I don't think I've ever had a single experience where my car was ready when they said it would be, at any tuner ... ever!! And I would really need that guarantee this time around!! I'll check those sensor plugs Ianhid, definitely worth a look. I just took the car for a short run, was very lumpy to start, but that's to be expected after standing for so long. But ran perfectly once it warmed up a bit. I noticed the AFR gauge sitting between about 10.5 and 14 most of the time. But on the overrun after WOT it hit nearer 24 for a brief moment, not sure if that's good or not! I'll keep investigating, thanks for the help so far! The MOT guys told me that they had to clear out the garage when they were testing it as the fumes were so strong!! Cheers, James
  19. Thanks Mike, Yeah, I've been over to Abbey a few times over the years! And with my Brother when he had an R32 GTR too. They aren't too far away, so it may be my best bet at the moment ... I'm just only here a couple of weeks of the year. The last map I had done was with Ryan over at Surrey Rolling Road, but I don't know if either of them still exist. Surrey Rolling Road was about 5 minutes away from my house, but now it seems they have developed the area that they were based in, and I guess they aren't there anymore. And I haven't seen anything from Ryan for a while, so I guess he's not doing it anymore either! I guess I'll either try Abbey, or look into which ECU gives the best support these days at a reasonable price! Thanks again, Cheers!
  20. Interesting! Might look into that, cheers! But I assume you also had CATS in, or not? I'm not sure how my big single would react if I plugged the Stock ECU back in! But it's so hard to find an HKS F-Con mapper in this area (Surrey, Guildford area), unless I am mistaken? I was tempted to upgrade to an easier/more supported ECU ... but that's not cheap!
  21. There's a good question! I couldn't tell you! The last map was about 5-6 years ago! But I am certain it's running too rich right now, there's a lot of black smoke! But that's also going to be a result of standing still for so long. It generally clears up after a few good runs ... but I wasn't in the country when the MOT was done, so I doubt it had a good blast to clear out the cobwebs before the test.
  22. Hi all, When I fail on emissions, I do it properly! As you can see from the attached, my CO2 reading, which should be There are other issues: 1. I have no CATS, and I haven't done for about 10 years. I have a straight-through 4" HKS Titanium exhaust strapped to a Boostlogic single T6765 2. I have an HKS F-Con Pro V Gold. Which, whilst being a good unit in the days, is very hard to find someone capable of mapping it. I am SURE I need to get the map checked with emissions that bad Luckily, I have a "nice" MOT guy who absolutely loves the car and appreciates it for what it is. So, for this year, I'm okay! But I really need to get this sorted out. Has anyone else been in this situation? I see other posts with people failing emissions, but not by the HUGE margin that I've managed to achieve! There's a place near me that will fabricate custom CATS, so that's an option, although I can't be sure it will actually fix the issue. Any advice is much appreciated, Cheers, James p.s. Hi everyone! I'm still here .... 15 years with the Supra and counting! Just live in Madrid most of the year these days!
