  1. Ashley - Drop in on this thread http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15720 - I think Gordon F said he was going to phone the Winchester lot as we were passing (around 1.30-1.45). Cheers, J
  2. Can anyone who intends to meet at the M3 Winchester services post their name up on this thread here - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15720. We will be coming past that way (after meeting at Fleet services) down the M3, and will stop in to pick people up if they are going to be there (about 1.45pm). If no-one's going to be there, then we'll just head straight for S'oton. Cheers, J
  3. LOL .... 14 Pugs vs 100 or so big bhp Jap machines! They'll probably run away in shame or start begging us for P/X on their cars or something! It is a big carpark though ... We should be cool Possibly even worth calling up Leisure World and informing them in advance. That way we may be able to reserve an area within the carpark, plus the added bonus of coming across as a polite and well-orgnised club to the owners (for future meets! ) ? Cheers, J
  4. Cool .... I've put an update post on the GTI-R Owners Club forum. Who else is going down the M3 and meeting at the new (ish) Winchester services at about 1.15-1.30pm .... Just so we don't leave anyone behind? Cheers, J
  5. That would be cool. There should be plenty of room in that car park on a Sunday, just so we have a 'backup plan'? Paul - I always take lots of pics
  6. Maybe someone local should take a quick peek into the IKON/Leisure World carpark opposite and see quite how offensive the speedbumps are .... Just incase we need to move over there as there should be loads of room there? I'm just going to print my name off on a piece of A4 and stick it on my dash I think - that should do the job Cheers, J
  7. It keeps getting bigger . I think there is also a contingent coming over from the Isle of Wight performance car club - including the new owner of my old car . Maybe someone should bring some planks of wood incase we outgrow the carpark and need to get over the speedbumps into IKON? :D Cheers, J
  8. Ahhh, nice one - Thanks for that Pete .. I'll have a read through in a mo. I just drove to Bicester (to abuse the outlet shops) which is about 60 miles. My trip computer and ODO both say I just did 90 miles, so the problem is confirmed! Cheers, J
  9. Sounds good to me! I'll top up with Optimax down at Junction 4 anyway, so Winchester services will be easier I reckon. I think we may be joined by the Isle of Wight performance car club too (the guy that bought my old car is part of that) + A few members from the GTIROC as well  Cheers, J
  10. Sure, I can do that (although I don't have any hands-free kit, so I need to be a bit careful). Aren't there some new(ish) services down near J10/11 now (maybe further on?) - I seem to remember some that were near completion about 3 years ago? We could all meet up there at 1.15-1.30 maybe and take it from there? If we bump into each other on the way there on the M3, then that will be an added bonus! Cheers, J
  11. I'll be going down the M3 too! Starting at J3. Although I will be going through Southampton via J14 as I am going to drop in on an old Uni friend on the way. I think most people are now getting off at J13 and going in that way? Cheers, J
  12. LOL .... Fair Point!! It's no biggie I guess ... Just kind of annoying as it looks like it's done more miles than it really has - bit of a PITA when it comes to service records and if I ever want to sell it (not likely )! Cheers, J
  13. Evening all, When I bought my car it had done 45,625 miles, but I swear that it's still counting up in KM's. I've only had the car about 2 months, and my drive to work each day is about 8 miles (round trip). My mileage now reads 48,700. There is NO WAY I have done 3,000 miles in 2 months! I did 7,000 miles a year in my old car covering the same distances! I know the clock was adjusted because when I took the dash out, the original value in KM's was written ontop of the ODO unit (70,000 odd km's). Is it possible that the display has been correctly adjusted to show miles, but has been counting up in KM's ever since? Cheers, J
  14. Hmmmm, a slightly worrying quote from one of the GTIROC members: - i live in southampton and that car parks busy till 5 you may find about 3 spaces all over the car park It was never that bad when I lived down there .... but that was 3 years ago? Can anyone that is local confirm this - I can't believe it's THAT bad!! Cheers, J
  15. Supragal ... I'll be going via M3 J3, so we can always convoy down with anyone else in the area? I think I know where I am going! Basically .... On at M3 J3 and keep going ALL the way to J14. Off at 14, straight over the roundabout and onto 'The Avenue'. Go down there for a few miles and you then hit a big 'oval' roundabout where you want to head down 'London Road' (2nd or 3rd Exit maybe?). Turn right at the lights at the end of 'London Road' and follow the road round. At the 3rd set of lights (big ones - you should see 'The Marlands' center ahead), you want to turn right (down the hill) where you should see 'Toys 'R' Us' ahead of you. Turn left into the road just before 'Toys 'R' Us, and right at the next lights (past the coach station). You will see the big retail park with Allied Carpets, JJB, Staples ahead. Just turn right at the mini roundabout and follow the road up to the roundabout outside McDonalds. Turn left there and into the Staples car park ..... Simple as that :p . Nah ... it's pretty easy really. Although I haven't been down there for a few months, so I may have missed something important .... but I'm sure anyone local will point that out! Cheers, J
  16. If I remember rightly it might have some of those very shallow speed bumps, more like 'raised tables', but they shouldn't be an issue for anyone ... certainly nothing like the mountains on the way into IKON!! Cheers, J
  17. Hmmm ... Haven't been down there for a while. They opened up West Quay just after I left Uni, so it's all changed a bit!! The McDonalds I am talking about is the one in the retail park with Staples, Toys 'r' Us etc ... Unless it has been bulldozed by now! I'm trying to think of any nice parks in the area with big car parks ..... but I only seem to be able to remember pub locations for some reason! LOL Cheers, J
  18. Been totally vacant and missed all this! I'm up for it though .. bunking off work for 3 weeks after Crimbo anyway! I used to go to Uni in S'oton and I reckon the Ikon/Diva carpark would be cool. Either that or by Staples etc with a readily accessible McDonalds (although I do hate the wretched place!) Cheers, J
  19. LOL - I feel for you Chris. My Dad rocked up the other day with a JCB that (for some unknown reason) he just decided that he needed. He has now proceeded to dig large holes all over the garden and farm for no apparent reason That would be great if you do have some spare Samco or similar kicking about. I have some left over from my old car, but it's all 90 degree angled bits, and I just need straight sections! I'll give you a call from work tomorrow if that's ok? Cheers for the help, James
  20. Hmmm .... I did search about for any other posts, but couldn't really find anything? Apologies if it is a repost Hey Pete - Replacement hard pipes would be good, but I use the car everyday to get to and from work, so taking the car off the road to send the pipes off would be a nightmare for me. Hence a slightly longer 'collar' of SAMCO etc coming out of the throttle body would be more practical for me Cheers, J
  21. Hey all, I have an ARC front mount on my car, and the hoses are looking a bit tired and perished. In addition to that, I think the hose coming out of the throttle body is too short as it's pulls the hardpipe towards the engine, and the aircon pulley is actually cutting into the hose at the bottom of it (see attached pic). I have just tried to pull the hardpipe out of the hose going into the throttle body a bit to give the pulley some space, but when I took it for a test drive, the hose going into the throttle body just blew itself off  Is it possible to get replacement hose kits for the ARC FMIC (does anyone else have this?), or a universal hose kit. Or is it just a case of measuring them all up and ordering the appropriate Samco's? Cheers for any help, J
  22. All fitted sucessfully today . Thanks for your help Chris, I believe the guys phoned you up for a bit of advice . It seems that I already had the first CAT out anyway. There was just a short downpipe with a flex section in it .... but no sign of a CAT? Anyway ... First test drive went something along the lines of: - 1st - Vroom, wheelspin 2nd - Vroom, wheelspin 3rd - Vroom, wheelspin 4th - Vroom, wheee - damn, roundabout, gotta stop! Return journey, into 3rd, foot down - JEEEEEEEZUS!!! . I was too scared to look at the boost gauge for long, but it was at 1 bar when I glanced down at it, so I think I've got away with the possible overboost problem. Roll on the Summer and dry roads, or RLTC if my parents have taken my unsubtle Xmas present hints Cheers, J
  23. Hey Wez, The noise had pretty much gone by the time I got home, so I'm not 100% sure about that one. BUT ... Got the torch out when I got home and noticed something pretty nasty ... Check this post out: - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15139 Cheers, J
  24. Thanks for your help Chris .... sounds like I need to get my thinking cap on for a solution to this one . I'll let you know how I get on! Cheers, J
