  1. Now that I've read this, it's worth mentioning that I think my car's been doing this too. Sometimes you feel the first turbo come on, you prepare for the second one, and nothing. It feels 'flat' and 'dead' ... sometimes when I lift of the throttle and try again, but apply the accelerator smoothly (rather than burying it into the footwell ), the second turbo will come on, and off we go I have attached a piccy of my speedo convertor (if it helps). I'm on the Dyno's at Abbey on Tuesday next week, so maybe that will show something ... unless I am imagining it! Cheers, J
  2. Well ... Certainly the best Bolney turnout I've ever seen + great weather (shame about the odd t**t here and there screaming down the road while there were people walking about with kids etc ) !! Good to see everyone again - Sheena, Oxy, Paul E, MFS etc etc Got some piccies up here (under Bolney 2004 ) :- BouncingBullet Gallery Cheers, J
  3. Excellent .. Job done, cheers Ben, Although I wouln't advise trying to do ECU wiring with the passenger door closed because of the rain ... it's a bit of a tight squeeze . Got about a 45 mins drive to Cricket practise now, so I'll get to give it a good test! Cheers again, J
  4. Okay .... just taken a closeup picture of the converter to be 100% sure! Is it the Yellow (KMH input) or the Blue (MPH output) that I need to splice the PowerMeter into? My brain hurts!! Cheers for the help, James
  5. Bugger ... So I've had it in the wrong place all this time ... which means my speed map will be t**s-up too . Beer is certainly a more inviting prospect .... but I might as well do something productive today (then congratulate myself with beer later ) Only prob is that there are 3 wires going into the convertor, and I am not 100% sure which one the speed one it? I will go and investigate now Cheers, J
  6. Just had all the speedo etc cluster out, so I took the opportunity to take a pic while I was in there. The pic shows the little speedo convertor gizmo, and the pink wire that comes out of it and goes down to the ECU. What I want to know is have I spliced my PowerMeter in on the right 'side' of the convertor, or should it be spliced in inbetween the speedo and the convertor? It's giving some bizarre readings at the mo. At 1.08 bar, it's showing 167bhp! Cheers, J
  7. My geography is rubbish, but I'm sure we go anti-clockwise from Chertsey? We get on at J11, off 4 junctions later at J7, and then off down the M23! The other way would cost the national debt of a small country in petrol ..... Plus, the less time spent on the M25 the better Cheers, J
  8. Where are the Surrey, Woking, Ascot etc Supes leaving from? We normally meet in the little layby on the side of the short stretch of dual carriageway approaching M25 J11, Chertsey (the RX7 guys meet there too). I'll probably be heading that way, and swinging into Pease Pottage services to meet some other guys on the way down, if anyone fancies a convoy from that direction? Cheers, J
  9. That really is bizarre!!! Give Admiral a shot ... I was pretty much the same as you when I insured my car (24, 5 yrs NCB, No accidents etc - Import 6-Speed TT), and they were cool with it. Well under £1000 for fully comp (around £800 or so I think?) A lot is based on postcode though Cheers, J
  10. Has anyone got, or used, this bit of kit before http://www.digimoto.com/ ? Looks like quite a cool bit of kit for data logging - not sure if it will work in the Supra though? It says it uses the OBDII port? Would that be THIS little 'Diagnostics' port under the steering wheel? It also says that every car made since 1996 is required to be ODBII compatible, but my car was produced on 31st December 1995 - D'oh :p Cheers, J
  11. I have no idea what clutch/flywheel is in there! I assume it is standard, but then there are loads of non-standard parts on the car too! I guess there is no way to find out unless I physically get the clutch out?? I did spray a little WD40 on the pedal and movement, and it did seem to cure it. That was a bit weird though as the noise really sounded like it was coming from under the car in the engine bay? Cheers, J
  12. Excellent ... cheers guys! All good news it seems
  13. Yeah .... both front and rear disks look pretty much exactly the same diameter (just from looking at them). The rears look like they have a slightly smaller surface area than the fronts (you can see that quite clearly in the pics in my original post) ... but that might just be becuase the pads don't touch as much of the disk? UK's all round it seems ... nice!!! Found HKS coilovers on there when I first got it too, which is nice :p Cheers, J
  14. Cheers guys! The rear brakes are much smaller than the fronts, which is why I assumed they were J-Spec ... but having said that, I have never seen UK rear brakes so that would be cool if it was right! Soonto'HAS'supe - Hahah! I feel REALLY stoopid now! You are spot on, I have just had both CAT's out (couple of months ago), and that is a CW pipe, yes Cheers, James
  15. Righty ... after a day of driving and looking under the bonnet, I have a list of questions .. bear with me, they are probably all really n00b Question 1: I'm sure I need new brake pads. I've had to do some 'emergency' stops recenty, and it didn't really stop! Also, light braking produces some hideous (and embarassing) squealing! Can anyone confirm once and for all what brakes I have though from these pics. I'm sure the fronts are UK and rears are J-Spec. If this is the case, does anyone sell brake pads that are UK fronts and J-Spec rear .... or will I have to buy a whole set of UK pads, and a set of J-Spec ones? Fronts Rears Question 2: Looking into the engine bay on the drivers' side (over the top of the VIN plate etc, and I see THIS down under the main 'bulk' of the engine. Firstly, what is it? And secondly, should I be worried about that white stuff ... and does it look like it isn't quite lined up right? Question 3: After a drive of about 20 mins, and then another 15 mins or so going up the ramps in a multistorey carpark (= lots of cutch usage), the clutch pedal started to make some really loud creaking/squeaking noises!! So much so that I could easily hear it outside the car with the window down, and so could passers-by who seemed to look at the car everytime I pushed the clutch!! Is this normal. As I said, it only seems to be really bad once the car has been used a bit? My old car did this for a little while until one day .... BANG, there goes the clutch!! Thanks for putting up with my dumb questions Cheers, J

  17. Cool ... those do actually work really well don't they . Look schweet with the boost(?) guage too! Given the results there, I guess a bit of careful work with a Stanley knife could also make the slot for people who want the gear indicator displayed as well. If there is enough interest (I guess 5 or more people), I might be able to get another batch made up? Cheers, J p.s. I thought your TV screen was knackered ... looks ok!!
  18. Buggernuts ... that might be something I did wrong? I do have a J-Spec and I spliced it into the orange speed wire going into the ECU (literally a few inches from where it goes into the ECU connector block) ... is that the wrong place? Thanks for all the help Ben ... much appreciated Cheers, J
  19. I'm looking at pretty much 1 bar (a touch over) with the boost controller switched off
  20. Ahhhh ... Well that explains it all! Don't worry, I got rid of the settings pretty sharpish (although it was fun ) - And you are correct ... I don't have a restrictor ring! I am now using a toned down version of Pauls' settings as I found those to be slightly too high too .... seems to be spot on now though Cheers, J
  21. I had a little play with the speedmap function over the weekend. I gave it a go with Branners' settings from earlier on in this post! It did feel alot better in the early gears ... but those settings give me WAAAAAAY too much boost. I showed a peak of 1.25bar (with plenty left to go!), and there was lots of popping etc when it was hitting my limit of 1.15. I also came out with a peak HP reading of 1183 on the PowerMeter after that!! :p Does anyone else have some other examples of their speedmap and boost settings I could try ... I'm aiming for 1.15 bar max. I have no cats either. I'm going to mess about a little more with it and drop all the boost settings! Cheers. J
  22. Ahhhh .... That's cool! Well, if you figure out what to do with it let me know! I wouldn't have a clue where to splice it all in! I'm about to go out there and mess about with the speedmap functions .... fingers crossed!!! Cheers, J p.s. Does the PowerMeter give the BHP figure at the wheels or the fly? Mine showed 329 at 1.1bar?
  23. Here we go .... got some pics up HERE . Cheers, J
  24. Yep ... T'was a laugh! I'm still cursing that white crap all over my car from the motorway though CJ - that exhaust of yours sounds sweet Paul E - What happened? I had some cash I was going to give you at the pub for the hose! :p I must admit I didn't expect to go home the way we did - but I knew where we were as soon as we headed into Windsor. Although, would I be right in assuming that Amazing Grace may have got a bit lost :p . I saw the signs for Slough and started to get worried!! I'll get the pics sorted as soon as poss Cheers, J
