  1. Sounds weird. Probably totally unrelated, but that's EXACTLY what my car was doing the other day 0.5 bar with foot to the floor. Turned out to be a split FMIC hose - HERE is the relevant thread! Other than that, all I can think of is that you plugged it up wrong .... But I'm hardly the expert on this Cheers, J
  2. Ahhh ... well I will certainly have that off you too . My bumper is coming off soon to be repaired, so I'll get all the hoses changed while I can get to them - If one of the ones behind the bumper splits, then I really will be screwed!! Cheers, J
  3. Thanks matey .... I've actually managed to get it sorted now. I Found an old 90 degree length of Samco that I never used on my old car ... so I butchered that and there is just enough to patch it up  Cheers, J
  4. As promised ... pics available HERE (Boxhill July 2004) Cheers, James
  5. Christ almighty .... that is soooo cool!! It sounds awesome - proper 'tuned race car' stylee - makes your insides shake  . Yes, the boost is a bit slower to appear, but it's so much smoother, and when you put your foot down, it really does go :p . Is it bad to use this 'pipe' method for a long period of time .... I could get to like it? TBourner - As far as I know (and I clearly don't know much), it will work on any Supra, modded or not. Although I can imagine that it works best on a decatted car maybe. Someone that knows what they are talking about may shed more light on that! Now that I've done it ..... It really is very easy!! Cheers, J
  6. Ahhhhh ... Schweeet - That's alot more understandable (funny guy too!). Righty-ho ... Let's go try it! Cheers, J
  7. I've read pretty much every post on TTC I think today, but I'm still a bit unclear on a few things .... which clearly makes me an idiot. I just want to try the quick hose method to see how it feels for a day before I maybe try to go the MKIV.com ETTC route. As far as I can see, the guide for the TTC on MKIV.com (HERE) basically says to stick a one-way valve in the middle of these 2 pipes AIC Actuator? and ECG Actuator? Most people I have talked to about this though do not mention using any valves though - rather just a case of popping a hose or two off one place and popping them back onto another place? Does anyone have any numpty-proof (ie. ME), pictures of what needs to go where. Once done, I am hoping to write a 'TTC for Dummies' tutorial for idiots like me!! Cheers, J
  8. You should have seen the jealousy etched across everyone's faces! You got home okay then Oxy? Cheers, J p.s. I'll try to sort out the few pics I took when I get home from work
  9. Hmmm .... ANOTHER one has gone!! At Boxhill today I was telling people that my second turbo was feeling a bit funny. On the way home it was even worse - 2nd turbo wasn't working at all!! Popped the bonnet, and very quickly noticed that one of my FMIC hoses had split (see pics below). Hose 1 Hose 2 Firstly ... could this have done any damage in the 20 mins or so that I was driving with the split hose? Could have sucked something in the hole I guess?? Also, the inside of the split hose was very oily! Secondly ... Does anyone have a short length of 2.5 inch internal diameter boost hose that I could get my mitts on urgently to fix this?? :p Cheers, J p.s. I blame this 100% on Oxy after I was taking the piss out of his 'burning' car at Boxhill - :p
  10. Had the guys at Torque Sport in Chertsey do mine. First one they have ever done ... but it all works ok! Plus .... It was FREE (but I made their website etc) . Cheers, J
  11. Jake ... I had the same kind of result a few weeks ago on the Dyno. They didn't even do full power dyno run as the Det was sounding pretty messy (sounded like a bunch of keys jangling about). Anyway - I'm having an uprated fuel pump, 550 injectors + SAFC2 fitted this week by Matt and the Vortex guys, so I'll let you know if that solves the problem Cheers, J
  12. I'll be there too .... Boxhill is always a good one. I'll probably just do the Boxhill bit though 1. Branners 2. Trig 3. JamesArup
  13. Legend!!! You have PM
  14. Afternoon all Does anyone know of any sites that can source and send me Toyota parts? Or will Toyota themselves send the parts I want to me. My nearest Toyota & Lexus dealers are a bit of a pain to get to, and I can't be bothered to trek over there for the sake of some small parts. I'm after the following if anyone happens to have them kicking about: - OIL PRESSURE SENSOR MOD: union bolt-#90401-19008 gasket-#90430-20016 o ring-#90301-68005 I'm trying to fit an Oil Pressure gauge, and it seems this is what I need to do it - not sure what all this does, but I'm sure it'll all make sense when I'm looking at it  Cheers, J

    RSR is on!

A sound clip would be awesome if anyone can get one? I could really do with a bit more ground clearance as I HAVE to go over a couple of speedbumps on the way to work, and one in particular just catches the exhaust. BUT ..... It's gotta sound better than the Hiper :p Cheers, J
  16. Hey Terry, Cool, that all sounds good! Whereabouts are you based? It would be good to get it all tested rather than having to book sessions on a rolling road (sometimes with a 2-3 week wait!) each time I want to see if the problem is solved! Curses about the SAFC though ... I just recently sold the one off my old car. DAMMIT!! :sly: Cheers, J
  17. Yeah .... as far as I am aware the fuel pump etc is all standard J-Spec stuff. It's one of the first things I did on my old car too (GTIR) ... so It would seem prudent to do it on the Supra as well (probably a damned sight easier too )? Is the FSE required too .... I've read some of Paul E's 'dissertation' on the subject ( ), but my brain started dribbling out of my ear by the second paragraph!! Cheers for all the help, J
  18. Here we go .... just to be sure I just went and got a piccy! It all looks pretty standard to me, but I am by no means an expert!
  19. I'm certain the ECU is standard .... I've been in there a number of times (fitting the FCD, Powermeter etc), and it just looks like a bog standard jobbie! Hold on .... I'll go get a piccy, better to be safe than sorry eh
  20. Hmmm ..... I don't think they will still have the info. I was actually doing some sound recording work (which may well give the identitiy of the tuner away ), so most of it was not measured on the dyno, it was short bursts to capture engine, exhaust and DV sounds. It was only when it came to doing a proper power run that the detonation became apparent, so we aborted it there before actually recording any data. I guess I could give them a shout on the off chance that they store the data, or if the guy remembers any of the figures! Cheers, J
  21. Hmmmm .... That could be an option. Get them out and get them tested - although I am screwed if I am without a car! I purposely didn't mention the name of the Dyno as I normally found that when someone mentions a particular tuner, you get replies based on how good/bad they are etc etc. What they did say was that I should get a second opinion on this. They were really honest and said that it would be far too convenient for them to tell me that I need about £1000 worth of engine management bits, and then tell me that they could supply and fit it. They said that they didn't want me to think that they were just saying it to get some business from me, which I thought was pretty good of them! Cheers, J
  22. I didn't actually get the AFR readout, no ... Guess I should have done really! There were loads of bag-ass fans pumping away - but as you said, it was still a hot day, and pretty hot inside. The Toluene plan sounds like a good one for peace of mind (although God only knows where my 'local chemical wholesaler' is :p ). If it is just dirty injectors, is there any way to get them out and inspect them physically? Cheers for the help, J
  23. Oh yeah, sorry! LOL J-Spec, standard turbos, std ECU (I think), FCD, Blitz SBC ID3, Blitz Powermeter, ARC FMIC, Denso IK24's (new!), CW Cat replacement pipes, HKS Hiper, Apexi intake, HKS SQV Cheers, J
  24. Went on the dynos today to get everything checked out. Basically, they wouldn't do a full power run because there was some nasty detonation going on in there and obviously they didn't want to damage anything!! I could hear the rattling too when it was around 5.5-6k revs. Basically the car is all setup for Japans' 100RON fuel, and it isn't coping too well with Optimax over here . I have turned all my boost controllers etc to 'OFF' - they were running around 0.9, but it's been as far up as 1.2. It was suggested that I didn't take the car much above 5.5k revs and try to keep the 2nd turbo at bay until the problem is fixed (especially with this hot weather!). The suggested resolution was the Greddy E-Manage system, to sort out some of the ignition timing and get it all mapped up for UK fuel. How does that sound? I'm a bit lame when it comes to all this sort of thing - just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how it was sorted. What other (cheap as poss!) options are there Cheers, James
  25. Just saw that beauty in the flesh (NOT Paul .. No offense ) .... and yes please ... very nice indeed!! Most comfortable seats I've ever sat in! Looks awesome with both those cars next to each other! What you can't see is another Supra behind the camera, and ANOTHER one about 50 yards down the road - Jeeeez!! Paul - Blew a boost pipe off on the way home from yours this evening! Drove all the way down the M3 with NO boost and an Audi fastened to my rear bumper!! Grrrr! Spent about 90 mins fighting with a broken jubillee clip when I got home! Just about bodged it back together, but I can see it coming off again at Abbey! Got any more of that 3" boost hose left !!!! :twak: Cheers, J
