  1. Hey JohnK. I can find the manuals in every damned language except for English at the moment! lol. I know it's around here somewhere! Semi-Motorised means that the screen comes out of the dashboard at the push of a button, but you have to physically flip the screen up yourself. When you push the screen back down, it auto-retracts again. It is pretty much impossible to steal it! It's screwed into the dash and there is quite simply no way that anyone could get hold of it without taking off the dash trim first!! To be honest, I think I've found the unit I want to replace it with. I just want something with iPod support, so it's really another in-dash screen that I'm after Most of the connections are on the additional KDS-P900 DSP Hideaway unit. The back of the HU just has aerial connection, video connection (that goes to the hideaway unit), and a couple of other connections that feed the hideaway untit. Here are the tech specs of hideaway unit with all the connections: - Dual-Zone Audio Control: with Adaptor For Use with KVT-910DVD In-Dash Television/DVD-CD Receiver Hide-Away Mounting High Voltage Preamp Output: 4.5V Parametric Equalizer: 4-Band, Digital Audio Features: Digital Audio Input: 2 Digital Room Size Adjustment: 3-Step (Small, Medium, Large) Digital Seating Position Alignment Presets Dolby Digital Dolby Pro Logic DTS Digital Surround Preouts: L/C/R/LS/RS/Sub, Gold-Plated Changer Control Features: MZ-Bus Control Product Description To enhance the in-vehicle listening experience by surrounding passengers with sound, the KDS-P900 Decoder/Digital Processor adds the excitement of Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic decoding to your Kenwood system. This unit comes with Digital Processors with a 4-band digital parametric EQ, full Bass Management with time alignment, 5 pre-settable seating positions, 3 room-size adjustments, and 2 digital audio inputs. Preouts are high-level at 4.5 volts. This small hide-away mounting unit works with the KVT-910DVD. It also has the TV package too (which I get a better C5 signal on than I do in my damned house! lol ) Cheers, J
  2. Just a few more pics. One shows the small dink in the 'faceplate' area. It doesn't affect how the system works in any way at all though Cheers, J
  3. I guess I can do it for £450 at a push. But that really would be as low as I could go (less than 50% of what I paid ) Do you want me to take some more detailed pics of it? I can get pics of pretty much every part of it if you want anything specific? Cheers, J
  4. Yep ... still in the Supra at the moment Great for watching Hollioaks on TV as you drive home from work
  5. heh heh .. well, here is roughly what this thing costs new. I think the first price include the Sat Nav addon which is about £1000 . I never bothered with that, as for that price you can get 3 x PDA's with TomTom http://www.yourcarparts.co.uk/trolleyed/60/ (scroll down a bit and you can see it without the Nav package) http://www.1st-car-audio-and-stereo.co.uk/KENWOOD_KVT920DVD.html These prices were also from when the unit was brand new a couple of years ago. I am really looking for as close to £500 as possible if I were to sell it (cost me just shy of £1000 about 18 months ago). Cheers, J
  6. Hi all, I am thinking of selling my Kenwood KVT920DVD unit from my car and I just wanted to guage interest. I've had the unit for about 18 months now, and it's been perfect. I have the remote, but I haven't managed to get it to work since the day I got it! :shake: It has the 5.1 unit that sits in the boot with TV decoder and a whole bunch of funky outputs. I have it installed in my Supra at the moment. I run a couple of amps (Maystar and Audiobahn), 2 x 10" Rockford Fosgate subs and Focal speakers all round off it. DVD sound and video playback is awesome. I don't have the CD changer for it, but I believe that also adds MP3 support too? Here are some pics of it in my car to give you a rough idea: - http://www.bouncingbullet.com/guides/dvdinstall/images/bn_DSC09541_JPG.jpg http://www.bouncingbullet.com/guides/dvdinstall/images/bn_DSC09542_JPG.jpg http://www.bouncingbullet.com/guides/dvdinstall/images/bn_DSC09533_JPG.jpg The reason for selling is that I really want something with built in iPod support, and this seems to be the one unit the the Kenwood iPod adapter won't support. Would anyone be interested in this (going to take me about 5 years to unplug it all!). What sort of money is it worth these days? There is a small dink in the faceplate, but it doesn't affect the operation of the system at all. I can get more pics on request. I would consider p/x for a new model that can support iPod. Cheers, J
  7. Hmmm, at first glance I can't find any obvious split or disconnected hoses. Some of the lower down ones on the FMIC are quite hard to get to with the bumper on, so I will have to remove that to get a proper look at them (not sure when I am going to find time for that!) Is there any other possible cause that anyone can think of, or is it 99.9% certain to be a boost hose or BOV issue? Cheers, J
  8. Heh heh .. coolio. Cheers guys, sounds like a common theme here Actually, I should have known about the noise a BOV makes when it's stuck open, seeing as I managed to shatter my previous one. It actually physically snapped leaving the flange in the hardpipe and the main BOV body dangling down in the engine bay! Guess I'll switch over to the Skyline for a few days and take the Supra to bits then Cheers, J
  9. Yeah ... I've always had my suspicions about the hoses on the FMIC. They've certainly seen better days. I'll take a look at those in more detail, But I certainly think I need to be ordering up some new stuff to replace them all anyway to be honest Cheers, J
  10. I've had the car for over 2 years now, even on the hottest Summer day I don't really see that much boost loss. Maybe 0.1 bar or so, but certainly not the 0.4-0.5 bar that I'm missing at the moment. Also, my BOV has never gone silent before. Even when I turn the boost controller off, it's still clearly audible be it Summer or Winter Also, it's not really been that warm down here recently! Cheers, J
  11. Hmmm ... well, I drove to work in TTC today. I peaked at about 0.90, but nowhere near the 1.2 I'm used to But .. even when I turn the boost controller off, I still get around about standard boost (0.85 or so). Surely if there was a split pipe, or a boost leak, then I would be seeing less than standard boost with the boost controller off? I will try and have a good look around all the pipes if I can but, on an initial check, everything seems to be okay Can't think what else it could be! Cheers, J
  12. Hey all, As you may, or may not, know, I have recently got my car back after 8 months off the road. As I suspected, a number of mechanical and electrical 'gremlins' have cropped up When I drove the car away, it seemed to be boosting properly and the dump valve was nice and loud. Recently, the dump valve has gone silent, and my max boost is about 0.85 (about standard). I am running a Blitz SBC-ID3 and usually boost to 1.2 bar at full tilt ..... dump valve singing all the way Given the lack of sound, I am assuming that my dump valve has siezed up or something. It's the HKS SSQV. I've taken the cover off the BOV, and given a quick spray of WD40 onto the piston, but that doesn't seem to have helped. I've also replaced the feed hose that goes into the back of the BOV incase there was a problem with that, or the 1 way valve on it .... still no joy . Despite that, all the symptoms are pointing to a BOV that is stuck open. I'm guessing that this would cause a boost leak, hence the standard boost. I'm guessing that it may need more than a quick dose of WD40? Does it sound like I am on the right track here, or is there something else that I could be missing? Has anyone else ever had this problem with the HKS SSQV? I'm going to drive to work tomorrow in TTC and see how much boost I can get .. hopefully eliminating any issues with either of the valves. Cheers for any help James
  13. Gutted Just had a reply from Rays in NZ (as they were the only office that I could get a proper contact address for): - "Dear James, Sorry, that model of wheels have been long discontinued. We have been through ths exercise before, but we do not have any parts left for that model" So I am destined to spend the rest of my days driving about with one shoddy looking rear wheel. I can't believe it. I'm going to keep trying, but this is a nightmare. I can't believe that they don't keep a stock of these SOMEWHERE!! I'm going to do my best to contact the main office in Japan, fingers crossed they can help Cheers, J
  14. I've actually just had all 4 wheels fully refurbed and diamond cut back to their former glory. I've had the car with those wheels on it for over 2 years now, and in that time one of them lost its' shine. All the others shine up perfectly with a single wipe of a sponge. My centres have always been black, and to be honest you are the first person I've ever heard say that you don't like them. I usually just get people saying how well they suit the black car. In the time I've had the car, I've had 5 seperate offers to buy the wheels ... so look after them I've never had the tool to get the caps off. I've always used a very big wrench and wrapped the cap itself in a towel or something. Usually come off fairly easily Cheers, J
  15. Oh wow .. you have the same wheels! I've honestly never seen anyone else with them! Hmmm ... where do you live? And, is your car parked outside with no security where someone could (theoretically) steal one of your wheel caps without anyone noticing :p . Heh heh .. seriously. I'm going to try and contact Rays/Volks and see if they can help me out. I can't believe that they don't have spares of this sort of thing for slightly older models of their wheels, that would be dumb. I'll let you know if I have any joy Cheers, J
  16. Ahhh, hmmm, they look about the right size maybe? It's the actual screw thread on the back that's about 65mm on mine, does that sound about right? Cheers, J
  17. heh heh! Thermos Flasks eh ... Interesting, although probably won't quite do the wheels justice Thanks for that Nic. Mine looked most like the bottom one on that page (Type LE), although none of them are really that similar. Here is a pic of the wheels with the cap on: - http://www.bouncingbullet.com/gallery/supra/images/bn_DSC00114_JPG.jpg I don't see any reason why the ones in that site you linked won't fit though? I guess they would do the same job as long as the thread was the same? Cheers, J
  18. Hi all, Just had a nightmare. Driving home, one of my Volks centre caps flew off at about 80mph. I've spent almost 2 hours looking for it, but no joy. I think it's a gonner My wheels are Volks Evolution IV's, and I have NEVER seen them on another car. I have also never seen them on any websites, so I honestly have no idea where I can get centre caps, and which will fit . The problem is, the centre caps hold on the 'plate' that covers up all the wheel nuts, so I really do need to replace them asap. I have measured the diameter of where the caps screw on, and it's pretty much 2.5 inches (maybe a hair over), or 65mm. I have also attached a pic, just incase it helps . Please, Please, Please ... does anyone have any, or know where I can get the ones I need? Cheers, J
  19. Had gold mesh (I think) on the aftermarket front bumper. Standard exhaust I think ... was very quiet. You were just coming past the 'Point' down by the docks, and parked up a little further down the road. I was just sitting on one of the benches looking at the attractive pikey colony on the far side of the river Cheers, J
  20. Meh .... Worth a try. Here's my 'arty' Summer photo from the W/E. Original is 2272 x 1704. Probably have to edit out the 'warped' numberplate, but I can do that easily enough I should think. Cheers, J
  21. Awesome .. cheers Nic, and thanks for the offer mk47. I'll probably order up a new set from our friends over at Inchcape Cheers, J
  22. Hey all, I'm after some replacement badges. Just got the Supra back, all resprayed, but the badges didn't survive the removal process. So I am after a standard toyota logo (with the 3 'prongs' to fit it) for the boot - my original one was a sort of gunmetal grey kind of colour. And I am after the 'Supra' logo for the right-hand side of the boot too. Again, that was a dark, gunmetal sort of colour too. Cheers, J
  23. I'm guessing that protected no claims won't be available then? I actually STILL don't know whose fault my accident was in November last year. I've heard nothing at all ... I suspect it's going to go 50/50 at this rate.
  24. Hmmm, SKY did mention mirroring my NCB, but didn't seem too convinced. To be fair, it's not really a 'runaround'.... it's an Evo IV Cheers Supragal, I may try Sheltons. But I really don't want to lose the agreed value and like-for-like mod insurance that SKY offer .... plus it's cheap too. The (unmodified) Evo seems to cost a hell of a lot more than my heavily modified Supra to insure They also require at least 1 years experience of that 'type' of car too. Which is fine as I had the GTI-R for 2 years and I've had the Supra for 2 years too. Plus I drive the Skyline/TVR a lot as well ..... but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to prove that. Cheers for all the advice ... good stuff J p.s. LeeT .. how do you go about getting the Supe on a classic policy? Mine is Dec 1995
  25. Hey peeps, Does anyone here insure 2 cars? If so, what's the best way of doing it if I can only use my NCB on one car? I currently have the Supra insured via Sky (loving the agreed value and like for like mods ). But they don't seem to offer any sort of discount/allowance for a 2nd car. Although they do seem very willing to try and help as best they can. I've been offered another car at a very good deal, and it may well be worth getting as a 'wet-weather' backup to the Supra. Probably doing less than 3000 miles a year. Any advice Cheers. J p.s. I get the Supra back at lunch tomorrow (for sure this time!). 8 months later, full respray, fixed door, refurbed wheels, new headlights, new skirts etc etc. Will post pics as soon as I have it ..... can't wait :)
