  1. Well, now I know I wasn't going mad! It was better in general today, maybe because it was wet and cold again. But I went around a tight roundabout (almost full lock) to the right, and the pedal moved itself to the floor on it's own. I felt it disappear from under my foot with no pressure from me at all, and the next thing I know, it's flat on the floor without me ever having touched it! Not so worried about the white smoke anymore, didn't see it today. But the clutch thing is irritating! Bad times!
  2. Hmm, I certainly don't see white smoke like that on startup, and when I do see it (when I come to a stop at lights etc), it doesn't seem to be as much as in your video. But that might just be because my problem isn't as advanced as yours just yet! I guess I am just going to have to hold on until the car goes in, and all these issues can be sorted out by someone far more intelligent than me (with a ramp!). Cheers, J
  3. heh, I think you might be right Chris! Supra problems are like buses. Everything is fine for years, then lots of problems come along at once The car had been standing relatively still for the best part of 2 years whilst I was working out in Madrid. My Brother used it from time-to-time, but for the most part, it was sitting under covers for 4-5 months at a time. So it doesn't come as too much of a suprise to me that some gremlins are starting to show ... although it has taken the best part of 2 months to manifest itself like this. This morning, the clutch pedal stuck to the floor the first time I used it to pull out of the driveway ... but after that, it was relatively well behaved! I'm not sure if I was imagining it, but I swear there were times where the clutch pedal seemed to move down by itself .... but maybe I am just going mad! Mind you, I didn't see white smoke today (it's wet & raining), but I was paying more attention to the clutch than anything else! Well, it's due in for some fairly extensive work soon, and a new clutch is one of the jobs, but I'm not sure what the best course of action is until then! Thanks for the help, Cheers, J
  4. Aye, I have been trying to keep an eye out for any 'puddles' or even small drips on the driveway, but didn't see anything. Also, the oil loss is pretty crazy!
  5. Hmmm, well, it seemed to get a whole lot worse tonight. Got white smoke within 5 mins of starting today, which I haven't seen before. But again, only small clouds of it as I come to a stop at a junction or lights etc. The worst part (not sure if they are related) is that my clutch pedal is getting stuck flat to the floor all the time. It's been doing it occasionally, but tonight it was constant. The clutch still engages (most of the time) but I have to stick my foot under the pedal and pull it back up all the time. Not much fun when you are in a traffic jam. It's also starting to get hard to get it out of gear because of this! When I got home, and reversed into the drive, the clutch pedal got jammed down and I couldn't get it out of gear. The only options I had were to pull the pedal up, which would have involved me jumping backwards through a fence, or turning the ignition off ... which is what I did. Then I pulled the pedal up and got it out of reverse with the engine off. It's really not much fun, and I am dreading rush hour tomorrow. On both occasions when the white smoke and the clutch pedal have been worst, is when it was a hot day outside. The car was really hot when I got out of work today, and I am wondering if this has an effect? I don't have a ramp or anything, so it's next to impossible for me to get under there and check everything without some 'professional' help! Is it likely that the white smoke (which I am fairly certain isn't steam as it seems to 'linger' a bit) and the clutch issues are related? Cheers, J
  6. Well, there doesn't seem to be any 'mayo' under the coolant cap (yet), and I didn't see any white smoke on my way into work this morning. Sounds like Tricky-Ricky might be closest to the mark at the moment based on the symptoms that I am seeing. Either way, it's going to need fixing!
  7. Thanks guys. Yah, I thought this was something recent, but my Brother has just informed me that he saw the white smoke too, always when slowing down to approach a junction/lights etc when he was using my car a few months back. I haven't seen the white smoke within 10-15 mins or so after startup, it only seems to be once it's nicely warmed up. Must admit that I haven't given it a 'proper' blast down the bypass for a while, but that's not to say that I haven't given it a little poke from time to time . I definately haven't seen any huge, billowing clouds of white smoke. Just small, but noticeable ones on the overrun, and when blipping the throttle after a 30 min drive home. I will definately check for mayo tomorrow morning! Luckily I'm in the same boat as you Caseys .. due into AFR soon, so hopefully they can find the gremlins Cheers, J
  8. First noticed some white smoke on Sunday whilst pulling up to some traffic light and changing down through the gears. Saw a small cloud of white smoke on the overrun as I changed down from 3rd to 2nd. After that, it seemed ok. Also seemed ok driving to work today (about 30 mins), so I thought it was just a random one-off. But on the way back this evening, I saw it again. And as I got to my house, I blipped the throttle a couple of times and, sure enough, white smoke. It's not a huge billowing cloud of white smoke, but it's enough to notice. It only seems to appear after the car has warmed up, I don't notice it from a cold start at all. I filled the oil to max 2 weeks ago. I just checked it again this evening after seeing the white smoke, and it's down to 50%!! That's a little disturbing! From reading around, I'm guessing that it's potentially the turbo seals, or valve stems? But would the turbo seals produce a more sustained, thick, cloud of white smoke? And would it result in going from 100% to 50% on the dipstick within 2 weeks? Either way, it's a bit disturbing, and I need it to get to work. I am due in for some major work soon, which I guess is the only upside! Any advice would be great, Cheers, J
  9. Yah ... Virginia Water is good! Yah, Pistonheads often have a meet in the carpark next to the Wheatsheaf pub. You have pay to get in there, so it keeps some of the 'undesirables' out. The only problem I seem to remember with that place is that there is quite a severe speed bump on the way in! Having said that, last time I went there the carpark was full of Lamborghini's, Ferrari's, Nobles, TVR's etc etc .. so if they can get in, then I'm sure a Supra can
  10. Hmm, I've never heard of Solaris to be honest, but I have been out of the loop for a while. Do they have a website? Can't really find much about them with Google, and what I did find made them seem like pretty expensive units? The reason I was after the F-Con is that it will do the job I need, but you can pick up a second-hand one, off any car (as it's just the harness that vehicle-specific), for 50% or less than the cost of the AEM
  11. Howdy folks, I'm after an HKS Fcon V Pro (the one with the gold casing), for a sensible price if possible. Second hand is no worries. Second choice would be an AEM unit if anyone has one spare I have a brand new E-manage Ultimate + harnesses to offer up as a swap or p/x if it suits anyone's needs better. Thanks muchly. J
  12. Hey dude, I think there should be everything you need there, yes. It was the same question I asked Nic when I bought it all. But I am sure there is someone who knows the system well enough on here to be able to confirm that How come you are replacing the AEM? Cheers, J
  13. Howdy folks, Probably a stupid question. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what this motorised unit is for on the back of my headlights? Just took them out and finally got a good look at it. They have never been 'plugged in' as there doesn't seem to be any connections inside the car for it. Turning the little white screw seems to adjust the angle of the reflector inside the main beam. The car is a 1995 J-Spec TT ... are these Facelift lights that some nice Japanse dude has fitted for me? I'm guessing they are for an electric beam angle adjustment, or something like that? I've had the car for about 4 years + and this is the first time I've really bothered to look closely! Cheers, J
  14. Howdy, Hmmm, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you. Maybe someone who knows more about the system can? I literally just got all this lot of Nic in one go, and it's been in the box that he sent it to me in ever since! It still has that "mmmmm ..... new" smell Cheers, J
  15. Hey Geo, hmm, not sure which version the purple one is, but I think it's definately the HKS F-Con V Pro that I am after, which has a gold case .... it's this one? Cheers, James
  16. Howdy folks, I'm selling a brand new in the box E-Manage Ultimate + a bunch of (also brand new) harnesses. Bought off Nic a couple of years ago, before I got unexpectedly shipped out to Spain to work. I'm back now, but my plans for the car have changed Because it's 100% brand new, and has never even been close to a car, I am looking for £500 for the lot (delivered). Or, even better, I am looking to swap/exchange for an HKS F-Con V Pro (Gold Edition) - new or used is fine, as it suits my needs a little better now. Here is the actual item: - http://www.bouncingbullet.com/images/emanage6.jpg How can you argue with a description like that in the bottom-right And links to the additional pictures of all of the harnesses: - E-manage Injector Harness Kit E-manage Ignition Harness Kit E-manage Boost Sensor Harness E-manage Boost Sensor E-manage Ultimate Vehicle Harness E-manage Ultimate Box - Side + Barcode etc E-manage Ultimate Box Contents If you need any more info, or more pictures, just give me a shout on PM, or reply here! Cheers, James
  17. Mine with (discontinued) Volks Evolution IV wheels (I think) I had them refurbed by a company called Lepsons a few years ago, did a really good job
  18. I've been using Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 for pretty much 4 years now, and had no problems at all. The front ones barely wear at all (as they just point you where you want to go), and rate of wear on the rears is also very good from what I can tell. I use the car pretty much daily, to and from work, rain or shine

    hid kits

I have a 1995 J-Spec TT, so this is where my info comes from. I'm not 100% certain about UK spec or Facelift models. I think 9005 are the main beams, and 9006 are the dipped beams. Most people tend to go for HID in the dipped beams only, and leave the main beams as standard (perhaps replace the bulbs with some decent 100w ones). So I think most people would suggest getting a 9006 kit for the dipped beams or, if you can find the space for 4 x ballast packs, get 1 x 9006 for dipped and 1 x 9005 for main As deathmonkey said, I've heard good things about Knight Racer's kits Cheers, J
  20. Ahhh, cool ... heheh! I think my Mum sees you alot of the time (I've trained her to spot Supra's) I'm in Windlesham, but don't see that many around
  21. And here are the pics. Fitted with the bonnet closed: - Looks nice and neat there. A cunning disguise for the utter carnage that has taken place under the bonnet. This is the temporary solution that we had to put together when we realised that it was getting dark, raining and I had to drive to work in the morning. Hopefully we can do the job properly next weekend, but I think we'll need to remove the headlights (no idea how to do that), and the battery etc to make some space in there! Cheers. J;)
  22. Sorry, busy day at work! Hmmm, it was a while ago now so I don't remember exactly what I used. But the paint was definately heat-resistant (goes without saying), and I definately put laquer over the top. I know what you mean about the blue hoses. As I said, I was looking everywhere for some yellow ones, but never found any. I've been out of the country for the last 2 years though, so I'm back now with a list as long as my arm with what I want to do ... one of them being to clean up the engine bay Cheers, J
  23. Here's a pic of mine from about 3 years ago after I attacked it with some yellow paint (don't ask, but I've always gone for a black and yellow combo on all of my cars ... it's like my 'thing' that I do). Anyway, it turned out pretty good in the end, and the paint is still going strong with no cracking or peeling. The only areas where paint has come off are the bits where I have dropped spanners, or slipped with a screwdriver etc . I just had a really hard time finding all the pipes I needed in yellow, which is why there is some 'rogue' blue in there Cheers, J
  24. Well, got them fitted, and I think they look really nice ... but what a sod of a job! I figured that because I already had the pins in place, it would be nice and simple as my old ones fit perfectly into the Aero Catch anyway. Alas no, because of the depth of the Aero Catch housing, the pin itself needs to enter at a slight angle to account for the curvature of the bonnet. So if you stick the pins in straight, it won't fit! For now, I've rigged up an over-elaborate rig to hold the pins at the correct angle. I'll try to remove the headlights to do a proper job of it next weekend (it was too wet and I was too busy today!). Overall, they look good though, and it seems that I had no reason to worry about the gap because once they are in, and screwed down, there is no gap Pics tomorrow
