  2. guys - thanx for all your thoughts. it has proven invaluable. i now have a rough idea where to pitch the pricing of the car. as for bobbeh's, leeTT's (how did i just know you would have your 2p to say ? LOL..) n harwood's gripes on the spoiler - i will have you know that i HAVE a stock spoiler for it !! i just don't want it on yet as i want to look different scooter, gough, 200sxboy, steveM and wilson - thanx for the help and thoughts. not sure what to get next but have been sort of told that it will have to go at some point and will have to get a boring 4dr sedan! been thinking of : ============= lexus aristo vertex (no.1 choice) legacy b4 rsk (no.2) galant vr4 (no.5) m3 (no.3) audi s4 (no.6) merc 430 clk (no.4) but i have a little time left so let's see if i can change her mind anyway - there's at least summer to enjoy for now.

PMSL ........ not sure that age alone plays a part in these cars getting 'riced' (just look at PaulE ! ) but also the quality/maturity of the drivers involved. older people do some crazy stuff too but i guess are 'generally' slightly more circumspect. there is possibly a real danger that the inherent value of the car may suffer as a direct result of younger ages and cheaper prices but i don't think there is much anyone can do about that. my 2p

    i agree with both dangerous brain AND scooter in that cheaper examples TEND to be far more ropey examples because any car worth having (and that has been thoroughly taken care of) normally commands a premium (not even counting mods done to them) but like scooter also says - it never hurts to just look. could be someone that desperately needs cash but these are very far and few between. i went to see one a few weeks ago that was advertised for 14k (IIRC) and it was snapped up almost immediately and the seller (trader) said he regretted starting off so low. i also met a guy recently while looking at a few cars that told me he had been on the lookout for an aero tt for 2 years now with no luck. it seems there are several different schools of thought on the values. i know of someone that got offered very good money but didn't want to sell. at the same time, the ebay/autotrader one that got snapped up for such little money makes you wonder if there is a 2 tier market out there - the lucky and the unluckily hapless!! i think the aero tt was produced for only 2+ years ie. late '93 to early '95 - can someone confirm this ?

    be careful - some cheaper aerotops have crash-damage history and have not been taken care of by the previous owners. the reason that they cost significantly more is that they tend to be well-looked after cars that are the rarest of them all here and are the penultimate model to have ........ no bias of course ....

  14. conventional wisdom dictates that you NOT expose the cam gears by cutting. if you must - get lexan covers so you can see them spinning. not sure what the jun ones go for but ask any of the traders on here and they should be able to get you a price. IIRC - they didn't cost much more than the HKS ones ...
  15. paul - i have the hks cam gears and have heard that they wear over time (i have mine exposed so that may be the reason!), something to do with the quality of metal used IIRC. i believe the JUN cam gears are meant to be made of substantially better material. my 2p of course ........

IIRC - there was this guy called faisal on the zed forum that was an absolute hater ! all that ranting and raving with nothing to factual to say till i think their own mods shut him down - what a laugh that was. while i'm sure zeds are very nice for some, i think the bigger wow factor of the supra (power achievability, LOOKS, reliability, VFM and handling) are a step over the zeds. BUT ...... to each his own i guess

    i recently got a bit adventourous and splashed out for a set of endless NA-S fronts and hawks on the rears. great stopping power and a grade above stock.
  21. of late - whenever i depress the brake pedal and it is coming to a slow stop, on a slight incline or when it is at the lights in 'D', the car makes a strange kind of groaning sound until the pedal is depressed fully. anyone know what this might be or if something is wrong ?
