That goes to the chassis mate, bolts to the main box section part next to the strut tower.

I had one from the fuel filter to the transmission. Dont think there's many more.
  3. I have welded sheet metal in to give it the initial shape then fibreglassed over the joins for extra strength then skimmed over the lot with filler to give it the smoothness, the carbon idea would look amazing but ive never done it before and if it goes wrong the whole things pretty much ruined. Should look alot better than before though whatever I do Cheers John that means alot mate, I cant wait to get the bay sorted so I can start on the engine
  4. Cheers dude, it's quite an easy process but it just takes ages!! And once you start there's no going back I know how much ive spent mate but it doesn't matter lol. It will be a completely different car to when I first bought it when it had the tatty beige interior, faded stone chipped bodywork, rust everywhere, buggered gearbox and a bodged up single conversion It was a shambles. I hope when it's done it will change peoples perception of the car and it won't be so much of an embarrassment
  5. Yes mate everything will be fully tucked and I have a few tricks that should make it stand out. I might even skin the entire bay in real carbon fibre instead of painting Dunno yet, I'll see how I feel
  6. Nothing, but members get awarded with reputation points for every joke they can make of it. Like anything else, it's just a thought in someone's head at the end of the day. Thats all it is, what does that matter to anything! If YOU like some thing, do it!
  7. Lol thats rare for me I'm on my phone nowadays Hey two great answers, let us know how you get on
  8. Dont rip anything else out!! It's dead easy just simply pull back the passenger footwell carpet, unscrew the ecu plastic kick guard then unplug the ecu. There is 2 connectors one of which pulls out the other has a 10mm bolt in the middle. Also follow the loom down the firewall as there is about 3-4 more small connectors down that area. You should be able to see quite clearly everything by laying in the footwell. Once this is all unplugged start pulling the loom out from the bulkhead wiggling it as you go. Dont force any thing just take your time. Luckily mine came out within 30 seconds, it might help taping a bag around the connectors from inside the car so nothing gets caught.
  9. Thanks guys, I really appreciate the nice comments. Will try get some more pictures soon when it's in primer

    Neons.

    White is a nice colour.
  11. What an awesome build! This is shaping up to be one of my favourite cars of the forum. Nice attention to detail keep it up mate
  12. Neutral and park dont count as gears Unless your mistaking it for a V160/1
  13. Ok I have some more progress of the engine bay smoothing and its getting there, slowly.... Ive already put more than 100 hours work into this bay and there's still ALOT more to do!! It just seems at the moment its just never gunno end but the final outcome is pushing me to do more and more, so I hope to have it in paint by January if I get the time.
  14. Wow he does work fast! Not long now I suspect for the top coat it's gunno look awesome mate.
  15. Does this mean mines getting done next? :ecstatic: Great work btw, looks very tidy and stock looking
  16. Lol. Nice purchase! Very cheap indeed look forward to updates.
  17. These cars make power so early! Congrats mate.
  18. I'll see Thanks Cheers mate. Nice but too silvery for my liking, but thanks If I done that I would have in the back of my mind that the car isn't finished, besides black hides alot of things and the extent im going to with the smoothing I want it to be perfectly visible
  19. Thanks Graham I appreciate it! The thing is once the bay is sprayed with the engine back in it won't be as easy to respray as it would be now. I dont know I really like it, ill maybe get it done again in the same colour so it's perfect again then take it for detailing.
  20. Thats not a bad colour, but I just couldn't bring myself to say it's a bmw colour if someone asked Im not really bothered what the jealous people think as I know it's a nice colour and constantly getting told this but what concerns me is that it's water based. Now I'm not 100 percent sure but I dont think it's as tough as a regular solvent based paint as I seem to be getting alot of stone chips and it doesn't feel like that hard shell you get with other paints. It's probably just me but if this was available in a solvent then I would re do it in that.
  21. Ive decided as the engine bay needs spraying anyway I might as well do the whole car again. Its staying Grey as my interior is black and grey but im thinking something with more character such as Grigio Silverstone which is slightly darker. What do you guys think?
