  1. Thanks listy, I'll give that a try. I was trying to avoid the door latches as I had a nightmare with them after rebuilding the car originally. If anyone else has any ideas or has done it the more options the better....
  2. Can anyone shed some light on how it's possible? I want to put some led lighting in the rear of the car to light up my back seat install. Preferably I'd like it to work along side the dome light in the front so turn that on and the rear lights up too, open the doors and it lights up. So far I've found that the light has 2 constant lives and an earth running to it, the door switch seems to work by shutting the earth off when the doors are closed thus breaking the circuit. I've tried to tap into the lives but seem to lose the earth when I do so. Has anyone done it and can you explain how? or at least explain just how the light operates?
  3. Cheers Steve, Received mine today. I've not been on since before christmas and forgot all about this!
  4. At the moment I don't have a cage, as the car is a daily but used on the track when I get chance. I've always seen it as the cons outweigh the pro's, like not wearing a helmet on the road and should something happen its something else to bang my head on..... but as they say no sense, no feeling Again it's pros and cons really, as you have said which is a very good point. No you don't really want to be strapped in tight with a caved in roof but, then again should something happen... again... I don't really want to smash my helmet against anything in close proximity like windows and steering wheels as you get quite a headache
  5. That was quick Jamesy! As I said I'm planning on doing a small audio build to replace the back seat, but also when I looked at the rear belt points they do look a bit more than 45 degrees. As I've already lost one supra to the track and plan to do more track days I'd rather stay within the limits of what is known to be 'safe'. I did think about this, maybe it's just me but it screams 'your gunna regret this'
  6. Ok Guys n girls, Before the car goes in for painting I'm thinking of fitting a harness bar. Now my question is does anyone use one? (that isn't part of a roll cage) and where have you fit it? Now I'm not going to be having a back seat as I'm planning a small audio install in it's place and obviously shoulder straps should be fit between 0 and 45 degrees downwards angle to the eyelets in the seat. I have used the old bolt in / weld in eyelets with harnesses in the past on other cars but I feel that due to the shape of the rear that I wouldn't be able to fit these in line. So what can people suggest? And also does any one make one specifically for the supra?
  7. I've bought from them in october: Blitz skirts: OK fitment but needed some fine tuning over the door step as it was a bit thick and the vent section was a bit off. TRD Half carbon spoiler: Straight fit no problems Trail Rear: (this was made upon order from the new mold as they were out of stock) Worse fitting panel I've even seen (and I sell classic car panels) Bolt holes don't line up, edges are all over the place thickness wise, random lumps of gel coat that needed sanding down, lines for the back lights don't match up with the car and was damaged in transit or I hope it was. Workable but shouldn't need this much work...
  8. I had 4 points in my mini and loved them. I never found them a chore to put on and eventually got to the point of being able to fasten them with one hand. Supra will have them when it's rebuilt. I've always felt more secure in them and they are great for when you have to 'help' a lady into them Only down point I found was when you jump in in a hurry and get the buckle up your arse
  9. You can give me quote if you want Rob cash in hand job It's a long way to bring it though lol
  10. Thought a little update was in order as this thread is slipping away. I'm currently on with test fitting all the panels (the car looks like a patch work quilt) So far we have the new bumper from Mr.T on with the MVP lip: TRD half carbon spoiler and the trail rear. The trail rear came from knight racer and is going to take hours of messing around with filler and fibreglass to get it how I want. Also test fitted my blitz skirts which I've got to start hacking as I'm doing a little 'custom work' with them So work is slow as it's pretty much all done on my own, I've also do the bonnet to cut holes in for the aerocatches. Then It's time for glass out and find someone to paint it for me!
  11. Front crank seal is T90311-46011 as I've got one waiting to go in
  12. Cheers guys, There's a lot of work but that's my fault Body work is slow but it will be twice the supra it was before
  13. Well I thought I would start a build thread as I'm now doing a full rebuild after my off at Castle Combe. So I guess the best place to start would be the beginning.. I bought my supra from an importers 12 months ago, J-spec import already with some bits an pieces on there including a blitz sus filter, HKS fmic, Zeal coilovers, BBS Alloys, Bomex Front, side skirts and Failside spats. It didn't take long before I started to do a few bits on her (4 hours actually), I fitted some nice JBL's in the front door panels, some cheap (well in comparison to what's on the market) mid's in the rear. HKS SSQV blow off, and an alpine head unit. As time went by and I survived the snow and ice a few more bits were done, Tyres, all fluids and filters changed. Touched up a few stone chips and had the bomex front repaired a couple of times Then next logical step was to head for BPU... So changed plugs, Japspeed double decat and HKS fcd as well as a cheap boost gauge were fitted. While on the task I also did the brake/fog light mod. So as I've always been in to track days with the mini I decided it was going to be the supra's turn, First Outing PPC at Mallory Park: Now that is a fun little track!! After that I realised the clock was heading up for the 100,000km mark so I ordered from Paul a gates uprated belt (thinking of the future here), fan belt, Pulley's and ordered the rest of the bits from toyota. I also got myself some HKS adjustable cam gears (again thinking of the future). While I was at that I also painted the fan, (its the small things that count) So with all that done, I thought I would try my first chav show which was ultimate street car... Also had a few mates that were going but dropped out last minute. I spent the saturday on the strip (in between showers) and got a best run of 13.6 could have done better but the lack of traction was terrible. A few pics racing my mate in his vRS I also met Rob and finally saw his golden beast in person One day.... One day. Not much really happened with the car progress wise as I was saving up for a respray and new body kit, but I went on a track day down at castle combe when this happened: So that was on the saturday on monday I had to do the 500 mile round trip in my wagon to go and pick her up from combe which was kindly dry stored for me! I got her home and stated stripping, It turns out that not only was the rear quarter un-savable but the rear panel was bent as well as the boot floor. So that was it, Engine out and rip the thing apart: Luckily Keron just happened to have a rolling facelift shell that hadn't been smacked that he wanted rid of...... Cue the next part of the saga............ Which I'm going to make you wait for but I will show you, the new shell. More progress has been made, and the body work is about 50% done..... more to come, Also I can't upload any more picture to this post!
  14. Cheers, but it happens. It's the risk you take with track days and pushing yourself and a car to the limits. I think I was around the 1.28 mark before my off, My mate was timing me from the side lines but I can't remember much of the day after coming off. I just remember him being stood there with a pint for me as I came out the med bay and him saying it reached 2.30 and I knew you weren't coming back round, So I went to the bar for you! Like I say I think it's suited more to smaller cars, I've done Combe countless times in my old mini and had some really good runs.
  15. This! Castle Combe is a good circuit for smaller cars in my opinion. Mind you I'm biased my last outing there ended up in a reshell. Well back off the the workshop I go...
  16. Apparently reception can be a bit hit or miss with the stubby's so I think most people who do listen to the radio buy the amp also which boosts the signal
  17. This is something I've been talking about with a few people, It's possible although the fabrication work would be a nightmare. Custom floors, subframes, bulkheads, steering rack, pedal boxes, prop shaft, the list goes on. I have a spare mini shell sat waiting to be started on....
  18. Quarter light windows. I've had the same problem, although I was also getting a damp seat belt and carpet behind the front seat. I remember looking through old threads and finding that the most common problem was with the quarter light windows not sealing, and so when I stripped mine down I found water had also been collecting under the rear bench.
  19. This makes me feel so much better about my current situation!
  20. 'A recent thread'?? well I'm currently out of action for the moment but you can put me down. I don't mind travelling for them either as long as I can get a lift back home if I stuff it
  21. Yep, I have the facilities to do anything from an engine rebuild to a nut and bolt restoration although I'll be looking for a professional spray job. Haha I do like my cars to look nice, I just prefer to put them through their paces on a track and not someone's living room window lol
  22. Well lowering the value of mine isn't much of an issue, I don't plan on selling up and if I eventually did, judging from the last few months I'd be better breaking anyway (not that I am) I'm going to give it a really good check over in the next week and plan my attack from there meanwhile I'll make a note shells for sale
  23. Just searched and it looks perfect apart from it's already gone
  24. I couldn't honestly tell you, It just one of those things that hasn't crossed my mind. I've been doing track days for years and just never had it. I will have in the future though! Never been a fan of anything without a roof, But If I see a decent shell I think that's the best option.
