  1. Congrats Randy, good time for concrete aswell.
  2. Jeez, i hope that 2nd turbo that you replaced really was knackered. Makes you think
  3. Leon was fairly confident that with the current set up it could be done for £3600 plus vat. He has just installed the very same turbo on someone elses with a similar set up a few months ago. The turbo is from Leons own secret source so i don't know exactly what it compares to but he estimated 500bhp at 1.0 bar. So im guessing it could be similar to a sp61. Air intake is in the kit i think. Can you explain a bit more about ECU,mapping and heat sheilding requirements. This all happened a few months ago so i wasn't keen to post until i had the cash to do the work, if the goal posts move ill have to rethink.
  4. Leon has tracked down my boost problem to the turbo's. It boosts up to 1.0 bar, and holds fine, but won't go up to the 1.4 when the controller is set to it. All other checks came up fine (compression, vsv's, acuators etc). Its either a crack in the 2nd turbo housing or more likely the turbo blades have been built slightly too small. The choices are, take the turbos off and rebuild them with bigger blades etc (Leon estimates they are stage 2). This may end up being £2200. Go to new stage 3's £2400 Or small single SP61 or similar,£3600 Rebuild seems a waste of time id rather go small single. Ignoring the mods that will need to be removed Leon thinks the current set up will support a small single. Forged pistons, 256/264 cams and gears, VPC, boost controller, s type intercooler, twin power delivery, ssqv, no cats, dragger, fcd, mhg, timer,. Bit worrid about the s type intercooler as its only rated to 450bhp iirc. Any opinions, will be doing this in January.
  5. If the labour rate per hour is £80 odd quid then i guess with the parts £130 is going to be about right for toyota. i doubt it will take the full hour but they always allow that as a minimum job time. if it takes 45 minutes it will allow the spanner monkey 15 minutes to hoon your car around town and do a few dougnuts in tesco's carpark. All part of an "A service" apparantly;)
  6. Having rung around a few of them a year back to try and sort something out it appeared that £80 plus Vat was the norm.
  7. The toyota franchise near me charges £80 plus vat for 1 hours labour. Not worth it IMO to get a toyota stamp in the service book. Id rather have a specialists stamp and pay £40 plus vat.
  8. Its weird how they feel so good after a service. I partly put that down to the D reg fiat panda that they lend you for the day, christ a pair of 1970's metal rollerskates with the red straps feels good compared to some of the crappy loan cars.
  9. A bit of play is fine. Not checked whether mine are 1cm or less yet, but theyve been the same for 18 months, no probs. Also its been in and out of JPS loads and Leons never mentioned it once.
  10. Yep, just Pm'd CJ and his is coming end of October. The red mkiv might have been mine, though mines a UK spec so maybe theres another red about Witney. There was a post in "gatherings and meetings" about getting a few locals to hoon about Oxford for a bit. involved Pulse from Aylesbury and MFS from Bicester, maybe we'll sort it out soon.
  11. Thread Hijack, TLicence, i noticed that your in Witney, is that Witney in Oxon? My main work branch is in Witney so im there most of the time. Looked at your profile but no car specs, only ever seen 2 down there, both j specs black and silver. Ill keep a look out.

    2835's

Leon has just installed his old 2835's on another customers car. He believes with the current set up it should be good for around 650bhp. With all the other mods required you might be looking at the thick end of £20k.
  13. The demonstration of the jammer showed it works but the parting comment was "if you get caught with one, you will need to prove to the court why youve got it". As the units are sold as garage door opening mechanism of some sort on the packaging, I assume you would need to buy an electronic garage door aswell? Or would this not be proof enough???
  14. Thats some Top Perving Bobbeh, by the looks of it thats no zoom shot, must be inches away.
  15. The commentator guy was mentioning about 4.5 to 5 psi for the dragster tyres.
  16. Please explain!!! any driving below 100 is seriously frowned upon.
  17. Really enjoyed today, another good turnout. I think the small parking area thing may be a joke by all the organisers behind our back. Lets see how many supras can fit into the smallest area. Took loads of video, not digital stuff though so i can;t download. Left the g/f with the camera and told her to get snapping. After 4 hours she had only remebered to take 1, at least she pointed at the right cars though.
  18. Can't believe i missed this thread, im only 6 miles from Bicester and i was doing sod all on that day. Give us a shout next time, ill help swell the numbers by 1.
  19. I totally agree, leon has always sorted things by doing the obvious first then working down the chain. Just thought id run this by you guys, apart from anything else it helps me to understand a bit more.
  20. I was told this week there about £800 each(on an exchange basis) from Toyota, this could vary abit of course. For that price your probably not too far away from getting hybrids. If you can source a second hand set you would imagine they would be less than this but TBH its waiting for a set to come up. Try JPS, Option etc to see if someones upgraded recently and left their old set. I don't know whether id trust a 2nd hand set without having them reconditioned, thats only my opinion. Ive remember hearing the figure £500 for reconditioning turbos and cant for the life of me remember whether thats each or both. Maybe someone will clarify that bit, alternatively just ask the garages when you call.
  21. I think ill give him a bell just to ask about the hose bypassing the vsv. Cheers for all you help anyway dude.
  22. Well he wants to check the actuator on the wastegate. if i remember rightly (and bear in mind i probably dont, loads of info was flying around on Monday). The check involves, i think, making sure the rod is moving in or out. Checking also for any other cracks or any sticking valves within the system, etc. He does believe that turbo 2 is working, but possibly that it could be on the way out. Ive had no "death whine" noises to speak of though. These next checks could end up being pretty lengthy on labour costs and could even end up with second turbo replacement. I do trust Leon and have used JPS for everything since last year. Just like to get peoples opinion and arm myself with info. If theres anything else that could be checked before removing all the turbo workings id like to run it by him, at least to eliminate it.
  23. Dude, Leon is doing it already, the first checks were done at JPS on Monday to eliminate the easy stuff. The cars booked in again in September to continue the fault finding. Im just one of those people who feel that part of owning a car like this is too understand more as you go along. At least as i slowly grasp how it all works ill understand how to sort these things out myself or at least know the possible causes. Ive been reading the tech articles on MKIV this eveningn and coupled with your posts its making loads more sense.
  24. Strange thing is i still get boost at 2500 and 4000. Im getting confused as to what my set up is now.
  25. Ive just noticed the pipe set up from wipeouts thread and the picture shows the two pipes connected above the vsv. My set up is also similar but the red line that ive drawn on is to illustrate that my pipe goes direct with no connection. This was also the same pipe that blew off a few weeks back. Im sure im not running a parallel set up. Any ideas guys?
