    painting rims

Roy, i guess if someones going to paint the rims they will need them for a few days at least. Pic below is how mine turned out after Kevin Huntley polished the rims and painted the centres. Can't remeber how much the exact cost for the centres were but it was less than half of what Pristine wanted. The overnight delivery for the wheels (if you can be without them) wasn't expensive either.
  2. Welcome to the board Matt, travel around Oxford most days so might see you around:thumbs:
  3. If you take the ariel motor cover off you will see if the toothed belt is snapped that connects the ariel to the motor. If its broke a replacement is £27 from toyota, feed it back in and bingo!!!! Did mine a month or so ago, as i had the same problem.
  4. Charlie hasn't got this kit but a similar set up based around an Sp64 turbo. leon installed it a little while ago and is trying to sort out a drive so i can see whether i could live with it day in day out. He assures me that its a great daily driver, but we'll see. i don't know when your planning this but if i get to drive it beforehand ill post my thoughts.
  5. Have a look at the Induction Motorsport kit, has a cast manifold. http://www.inductionmotorsports.com/index.html?manifold.html In the process of doing the same, not sure until i drive charlies to see how the power comes in for daily driving though.
  6. Ive had 4 lousy starts since changing from HKS plugs to NGK, 8 months or so ago. Havn't had the clanking noises you describe but definatley it idled roughly before dying and was difficult to start until 3rd attempt. Don't really understand why this happens because i use it almost everyday. Might change back after reading your post.

    Next mod.

Yep, same here, just coming up to 30K with same cams/stock ecu, but probably smaller hybrids, no problems at all:thumbs:
  8. I am about to reseal mine and was worried about bonding the glass back without some fresh sealant. Bloke at a local windscreen fitting company gave me a tube of black "Texflex" sealant which they use for bonding the glass back. Maybe call a few local companies in your area and see if they can hook you up with some.

  10. Oh and black on the calipers BTW, 40% cant be wrong.
  11. Old coyote's back, hows things Mid
  12. I was at leons on Monday and he has a nice shiney set of stage 3's up there. He estimated 90bhp over stock and £2000 fitted. give him a bell on 01908 367100 for just the turbo price and get your guys to bolt them on. There is a rumour that some companies are using 2nd hand parts to rebuild the turbos, leons guy 100% guarantees new internals. edited: Didn't mean that to sound like only leon uses new internals, most companies do, just that a few are using second hand parts. Just make sure you check with Turbo Dynamics that they are using new parts.

    best tyres?

PM Ibrar Jabbar on the proxes, very good prices.
  14. Has anyone tried stiffer actuator springs or knows anywhere to get them from?
  15. This may sound gei, but i used various sizes of womens make up brushes. The bristles are incredibly fine and soft and none fell out during the whole process. Just remember "do not" ask her before you borrow and throw away all evidence after.
  16. ive driven my g/f company 318 which got a fairly reasonable write up for handling. Still feels very tall and wallowy compared to the supe and the effort required to overtake is full WOT just to do one car. Suddenly racing against anything becomes neck and neck.
  17. I used the foliatac stuff a few weeks back. Mixing in 2 halves does work well, it would be impossible to do all 4 without the paint hardening. For sanding i used one of those copy "proline" dremmel tools from B+Q. £15 for the tool and a shed load of various detail grinding attachments, variable 27000rpm motor aswell. Obviously not as good as bead blasting but way quicker than sanding. Almost changed my mind half way through and tried to sand then polish the rears to chrome like "pooshda" did on supraforums. A very effective tool, mine came up with almost no imperfections after applying the paint. The kit btw does not come with a paintbrush and because the paint is very sticky it will yank the hairs out of a cheap brush, so go for a good one.
  18. Sounds like theres a gap in the market for plastic FMIC's to fill that pesky gap.

maybe i should get this checked out then, definatley let slip, most unexpected.

It does cut in normally, i think there might have been something on the road, its usually very good.

Usually 15% in dry wheather or light wetness. Had it on wet setting the other day during normal rain, suprisingly enough i span the wheels in 1st, 2nd and 3rd... the 3rd gear spin was about 65mph, luckily on a dual carrigeway, unluckily in heavy traffic, just seemed to go pearshaped.

    phew ...

Good news Roy!!, youve spent so much time and money on that car just to let it go.
  23. Full assembly was quoted at something daft like £150 + vat from my local toyota. I replaced mine recently, its a good idea to test it out prior to reinstalling the whole thing in place again. Lay the assembly in the boot and test from the drivers seat so you can see whats going on and turn the radio off if it extends too far. Sorry if this seems obvious.
