  2. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?165183-Garrett-4088-turbo-failures-the-full-story&highlight=garrett+4088
  3. Garrett GT4088 http://i322.photobucket.com/albums/nn439/vanssk8ter360/Garrettturbo.jpg there is a post on here about that turbo the daf one that they fail
  4. where are these threads? i know there were problems years ago but where are the threads with problems now since the manifolds have changed? how far back was the last major problem with them where it apparently destroyed the engine?
  5. i would be worried myself now. hope they dont mess things up for you
  6. you will always get people say 10k min for single and have bad things said about t61's or going single cheap even tho the people that do use them have had no real issues lately or none really mentioned in other threads. if it was me and i wanted big power 600+ then i would go the expensive route but if i wanted single and only running around 500bhp i would go with a cheaper kit or a nice kit but with a cheaper turbo. i couldnt justify spending 10k plus for an extra 100bhp i would want more but with more i would go the expensive route with a standalone
  7. that looks nice mate, not sure about the front because cant see it properly but looks nice and clean is the front a trial?
  8. lol how friendly are they i really shouldnt post after a few beers lol
  9. i think its usually 2 or 3 runs on a dyno , i had 3 with my golf but i think dynodaze do 2 runs
  10. true didnt think of that lol hopefully i get it sorted first tho
  11. i guess it depends who it is lol doesnt bother me tho, been crap weather today but im hoping i can get to the bottom of this rubber smell so i can get on the dyno too. i wanted to see what power its running at the moment before going single so this would be ideal
  12. thanks chris ill post back tomorrow hopefully i find it the car had new antifreeze in but my aircon rad is damaged but that shouldnt give off a rubbery smell should it.
  13. its baffled me lol, yeah mate my tryes are fine and not rubbing anywhere there is plenty of room and yes mate only when going along, cant seem to get it to do it while stationary. ill remove the diffuser tomorrow and try again but i really cant see it being the diffuser because it cant smell like rubber surely but atleast it will rule that out too i should have some spare time tomorrow to go over it properly
  14. didnt think so , any ideas what to check next mate im running out of ideas
  15. would it make a difference that the car was revved in park rather than being driven under load to see if the belt was slipping?
  16. do what everyone else does and pay for insurance properly but you can always add your dad as a named driver so he can drive it and also should lower the price
  17. today i lifted the bonnet and revved all the way to redline slowly and even tried quickly and all sorts and no burning smell at all. had the old people come out looking getting ready to complain but they dont know me so they didnt lol. even tho im nice to old people anyway im baffled even if carbon does burn i couldnt see it smelling like rubber ??? ive sanded this stuff with a air d.a and it didnt smell at all like rubber, the resin doesnt smell anything like it,
  18. checked the lead and its fine, clueless on this one unless its what i thought and its the auxbelt slipping but how would i know for sure? without revving the shit out of it with the bonnet open, im in an area where they will all moan and complain lol i now live in farmland this is the belt i ordered http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350587553982?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 brand new i checked the routing and its fine
  19. lol that me me lol i marked the crank pulley and it was in the same position afterwards so even tho the crank pulley was second hand it should be good unless it landed back in the same position which i guess could happen, i marked it gently with a screwdriver, kindof cleaned the area to use as a mark but ill get tip-ex to be sure. ill check the 02 sensor lead today mate thanks
