  1. ha ha ha, you know i did wonder "why is he being nice and helpful?"
  2. cheers for this, its quite intimidating to ask a relatively basic question on here sometimes! just trying to take in as much as possible before buying mine.
  3. cheers martin, you replied as i was typing my reply! you say it may reduce the life of the box? is this a common side effect? or only occurs after a long time or on big power cars?
  4. Cheers Barry, not actually owning a supe yet, im still trying to take as much in as possible, care to explain what you mean by MANU mode? Cheers
  5. Martin, I take it from your answer to 4 that there ARE side effects on an auto car? care to enlighten me?
  6. Power engineering in Uxbridge or Jamsport in Northampton they are the closest well established road operators i can think of. Both are mainnly ford specialists but PE have a fair amount of jap car work under their belts now.
  7. for a headunit and changer you can pay anywhere from around £250 - £500+, varies noramlly down to the quality of the head unit and the features it has. Each manufacturer tends to produce 2 or 3 changers that the entire range uses. Might be worth trying to replace the leads on the existing items if the genuine CD doesnt solve it, these tend to be pricey and im assuming hard to locate if its Jap equipment.
  8. is the changer from the UK? is the headunit from the UK? now im not 100% but seem to recall that a Jap headunit uses a different FM range to a UK headunit, so im thinking if the changer is a Jap item then the modulator will put out a signal in the Jap range rather than the UK range? Trying a real CD sounds the best option though to start.
  9. most ive seen were on http://www.turboimports.com/
  10. LOLOLOL Its true though, ive seen loads of clips and hype about 9 second cars etc with 150+ terminals, am i right in thinking these are not as common as its made out to be?
  11. Where bouts are you based? Coming from the "Hot Hatch" generation, ive got a lot of mates who have had stupid amounts of Body work done, there are several highly reputable places I can recommend (Herts/Berkshire/Surrey/Northamptonshire) depending where you are based. At a guess though, if your going for a basic spray in the same colour anywhere from 1K - 1.5K Different colour? then its gonna go up depending what paint u use (standox and chromaflair are £300+ per litre!!)
  12. Sorry! just read my post and ive missed loads i wantred to ask! I really want to get an idea of running costs, what goes wrong, how much are services etc etc... Also after the standard mod of exhaust, filter whats the next logical step? If im buying from japan is it best to go for standard? or are the modded ones that come over ok? again... thanks Dave
  13. Hello all ! My first post here, thought id sign up as everyone ive spoken to recomends this place! I want a supra! lol Im pretty sure ive made my mind up as to what model to buy but want some more advice first... Ive spent some time now looking into it and have had reasonable quotes for both UK and Jspec cars (£1500 and £1900 respectively) so that means im not limited there.... UK spec seems tempting a) cos of toys, b) cos of more power c)cheaper insurance but... ive heard that the majority of tuning parts are designed for Jspec (only some are limited to Jspec though) is this correct? Im not fussed about having it serviced at a main dealer so that doesnt bother me. Also if i go for a GZ then is interior spec pretty much that of UK? Someone also told me prices vary greatly down to colour aswell? any truth to this? I intend to make a trip down to JIC soon to have a look at some, and ive been recommended New Era Imports in cantebury, has anyone ever dealt with them? The idea of importing my own (well through a company) is appealing but it does seem more sense to get one thats been owned in the uk for a while? Have i got things right?!!? All advice greatly appreciated
