This looks just like the ones I purchased from eBay. Galvanic corrosion can happen to alloy and usually caused by high amount of salt. You probably get a lot more salt on the Scottish roads

An update on this. The ebay seller (surrey vinylwraps) has messaged me to say I should not have purchased these if I am so picky. I suggested that they refund half the cost as the front units are in good shape. There was no response from the seller and now that 10 days have passed I have escalated the case to ebay and they will make a judgement on this. Does anybody have a decent set of rear adjustable coiloversfor sale?

Thanks for the reply. These are not HSDs, they are Tein Comfort Sport. The new version is steel, but they used to use anodized alloy. They are very light in weight. Apparently galvanic corrosion in alloy usually occurs where there is salt water and steel in contact with the alloy that causes electrolysis. This turns the alloy into aluminium oxide.

Good evening all, having decided to go for a set of HSD coilovers, I was tempted by some used Tein CS alloy bodied ones from ebay. The fronts are in great condition and they all have good damping and no leaks. I am now in a dispute with the seller due to the condition of the rears being riddled with galvanic alloy corrosion. I have removed the powdered aluminium oxide to see what is left. Not being a metal expert, I am not sure if the corrosion will have rendered these units unuseable, or if they are thick enough to cope with losing around 0.5mm of their thickness in places. Pictures attached for those who are intersested and coments welcome from those with an unhealthy interest in metallurgy. Of course you are also entitled to mock me for trusting an ebay seller;

I got mine off ebay and it went in with no problems. I think it was this type and I do not fancy pulling the dash off to check on such a horrible evening http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-T5-286-1-2w-White-Dashboard-LED-wedge-bulbs-UK-/220824792872?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item336a2eef28

I have just had the Supra M.o.Td at the local Ford dealer in Lutterworth. They are currently doing a special price of £35 English pounds. I was awaiting a phone call yesterday and expecting a large and scary list of reasons for failure. To my delight and amazement, it sailed through with only one advisory for light misting of nearside rear damper. Suffice to say, I am feeling rather smug at the moment and felt compelled to share my warmth with fellow Supra minded folk.

1_nil to me, I think.

No, the ones that sit behind the discs.http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=supra+brake+back+plate&hl=en&client=safari&tbo=d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=dUbiT4GDIbGY1AXCs6zFAw&ved=0CE0Q_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i|53;d|Y5jvieyNKztKpM:

have a look at the back plates. They bend quite easily and could be fouling on the disc.

I think he means adjustable coilovers

I have seen a Bilstein coilovers sleeve on eBay that converts the damper to adjustable coilovers. you would need new springs but the sleeves are around £60 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COILOVER-CONVERSION-KIT-FOR-BILSTEIN-INSERTS-/260891894733?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cbe5e63cd#ht_500wt_689

Sorry chaps, I had not spotted the plus vat. I hate it when sellers slap vat on at the checkout but conveniently ignore it on their price list. I was thinking about buying a set of these as the price looked good. Not now though.

I am not complaining about £130 a corner for the new BCs, it's the price of second hand units that I find disproportionately high.
-
Best price I have found on BCs. http://www.futuremotorsports.com/SUSPENSION-copy-9482/ I can't understand why used suspension is so highly priced.

from wiki answers; The definition loosely refers to a large portion of the underclass of a country or a person in any social class who lives "on the cheap." The term is also considered to have a racist meaning, and it is considered derogatory and offensive. It's also frequently used as an adjective but also sometimes used as a verb, synonymous with "steal." This term is used in the fringes of Greater London and particularly in the region of West London where large numbers of gypsies have settled over the decades. It is used as a descriptions of those people and their class. It is similar to the American term "white trash." Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_pikey_mean#ixzz1uUuAstee I must admit to not being a great supporter of the travelling community. The term traveller is a nonsense. The village where I live has recently been overwhelmed by one of the largest privately owned traveller sites in the district. We now have piles of fast food detritus littering the hedgerows, increased local crime rates and a village school that has to open its doors to any number of traveller children whenever they choose to turn up. The scholl was closed to local children as it was "full" I just wish that they would travel and not be here. They want to settle in nice areas without paying for building land or planning permission. It makes me rather angry. We just want these people to be treated equally. I cannot live in green belt and claim that I am a victim of racism....

Nice work, sir.

The only downside was being patient while the holders were shipped from Hong Kong, but they are really good quality and only took a couple of hours to do the job. You should be able to see in the first picture where I cut out elongated slots for the T20 holders to fit. The smaller T10s went straight in with no mods.
