  4. This looks just like the ones I purchased from eBay. Galvanic corrosion can happen to alloy and usually caused by high amount of salt. You probably get a lot more salt on the Scottish roads
  5. An update on this. The ebay seller (surrey vinylwraps) has messaged me to say I should not have purchased these if I am so picky. I suggested that they refund half the cost as the front units are in good shape. There was no response from the seller and now that 10 days have passed I have escalated the case to ebay and they will make a judgement on this. Does anybody have a decent set of rear adjustable coiloversfor sale?
  6. Thanks for the reply. These are not HSDs, they are Tein Comfort Sport. The new version is steel, but they used to use anodized alloy. They are very light in weight. Apparently galvanic corrosion in alloy usually occurs where there is salt water and steel in contact with the alloy that causes electrolysis. This turns the alloy into aluminium oxide.
  7. Good evening all, having decided to go for a set of HSD coilovers, I was tempted by some used Tein CS alloy bodied ones from ebay. The fronts are in great condition and they all have good damping and no leaks. I am now in a dispute with the seller due to the condition of the rears being riddled with galvanic alloy corrosion. I have removed the powdered aluminium oxide to see what is left. Not being a metal expert, I am not sure if the corrosion will have rendered these units unuseable, or if they are thick enough to cope with losing around 0.5mm of their thickness in places. Pictures attached for those who are intersested and coments welcome from those with an unhealthy interest in metallurgy. Of course you are also entitled to mock me for trusting an ebay seller;
  8. I got mine off ebay and it went in with no problems. I think it was this type and I do not fancy pulling the dash off to check on such a horrible evening http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-T5-286-1-2w-White-Dashboard-LED-wedge-bulbs-UK-/220824792872?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item336a2eef28
  9. I have just had the Supra M.o.Td at the local Ford dealer in Lutterworth. They are currently doing a special price of £35 English pounds. I was awaiting a phone call yesterday and expecting a large and scary list of reasons for failure. To my delight and amazement, it sailed through with only one advisory for light misting of nearside rear damper. Suffice to say, I am feeling rather smug at the moment and felt compelled to share my warmth with fellow Supra minded folk.
  10. No, the ones that sit behind the discs.http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=supra+brake+back+plate&hl=en&client=safari&tbo=d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=dUbiT4GDIbGY1AXCs6zFAw&ved=0CE0Q_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i|53;d|Y5jvieyNKztKpM:
  11. have a look at the back plates. They bend quite easily and could be fouling on the disc.
  12. I think he means adjustable coilovers
  13. I have seen a Bilstein coilovers sleeve on eBay that converts the damper to adjustable coilovers. you would need new springs but the sleeves are around £60 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COILOVER-CONVERSION-KIT-FOR-BILSTEIN-INSERTS-/260891894733?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cbe5e63cd#ht_500wt_689
