  1. Might as well ask for old times' sake: Gameboy Micro price?
  2. 2005 Best 'No Dictionary To Hand So I'm Gonna Guess' Award right there!
  3. Before I get anymore PMs, mine are now sold
  4. Is this the front one? The five bolts jobby?
  5. Tomorrow is Saturday, your Lottery numbers come up, you've won £7 million... so which car do you put a deposit down on first? Aston Martin DB9 for me. http://www.canadianautoreview.com/naias05-db9-front.jpg Rules: we're not constructing our dream garage line up here, you're only allowed one choice! I can think of 5 or 6 cars I'd eventually buy, but which one would you just have to get first?
  6. Someone just visited my place of work in a silver J spec - think it was a woman driver. Went round the roundabout twice so I'm assuming it's a visitor.
  7. I think it really depends on what you want - if you just want a straight video replacement just get a standard DVD recorder without a hard disk. If you're more likely to want to do editing (for example, recording a whole series, taking out the advert breaks, and making it into a permanent disk, or if you're into camcording a lot and want to edit that) then a hard disk recorder would be better. There's also an element of future proofing too - I didn't get a hard disk recorder because I believe DVD recorders are just a stop-gap. I needed a video replacement as mine was knackered and I fully expect to buy a hard disk recorder in 5 years time or so as I think these are the future. All we'll use DVD recorders for is making permanent copies - RW disks will be dead. We'll just record straight onto the hard disk all the time and then only burn a DVD if you want to keep something for ever. So you can either pay a bit more now for a hard disk recorder (with a DVD recorder built in) that won't have a particularly big hard disk, or save some dosh and just get a DVD recorder now and then upgrade to a hard disk recorder in a few years when they'll be loads around at cheap prices with much more usefully sized hard disks. That's my plan. If you really just want to record stuff off the telly, watch it then delete it, just get a DVD recorder. Edit: Should point out that all my thinking is based on my research when I was buying about 8 months ago - prices and sizes of hard disk (and even DVD-RAM compatibility) may have changed substantially since then. CJ's link is worth a read - that's where I got most of my info from when I was buying. Just browse the forums.
  8. Ah right. Many thanks Mr B, I am off to bed now but will dabble some more tomorrow Edit: Okay, my work colleague (who I'm doing all this for) seems to now have access to his pics that I've stored on there so looks like it's all working. Excellent.

  10. Yes, here we go, I thought it did. 'A feature called 'Chaseplay' makes it possible to watch a recording in progress from the start of the recording' and it then goes on to describe watching the start of a recording while it's still recording the end. Mine's a Pioneer DV220 and it's -R (not +R). Personally I think DVD-RAM isn't worth the extra money. Panasonic are just about the only people who use it, and like I said if you've not got a DVD-RAM player elsewhere (and it's unlikely) you're stuck with watching the disc on the recorder. Mine does chapters automatically if I set it. It's got built in editing features and you can choose menu screens for permanent recordings but I think they're a waste of time - if you're serious about editing you might as well do it on the PC (damn site easier than using a remote control to edit something!)
  11. I'm gonna go downstairs and have a look at the manual now to find out
  12. Okay, I've got the pic in there, but what's the address to it?
  13. That seems to have worked. Blimey, you weren't joking about the original password - I had to dig it out from 5 years ago.
  14. I'm sure my Pioneer does that. Remember also that DVD-RAM isn't compatible with most players, so if you want to record and watch the disc on another player (one in the bedroom for example) you won't be able to.

I think it's a safe bet that we didn't all go to your school

I didn't understand that comment - are there other pictures of her somewhere?
  17. You're not that far away from Chris Wilson - when it comes to all things decatted he would be your best bet.

Fair point (and I didn't see that he was a special needs pupil I admit), but I just said she was pretty.
  19. Or just use a trustworthy garage...?
  20. What's with the dual front number plates?
