Cool, thanks guys. Sorry for the silly question, I just don't (yet) have a bike to test it out!
-
I know this is probably a bit of a long shot, but does anyone know of a bike rack that will fit in the back of a Supra without fouling on the spoiler? I'm thinking of getting back into mountain biking, but the inability to drive the bike around could be a bit of a pain. As an alternative, has anyone successfully put a bike in a Supra?

Spotted you as I came off the A404, just past the petrol station. Don't think you saw me though. Looked like a lovely example!

for sale 94 white Manual NA with loads of tax and MOT
benedwards64 replied to pistol pete's topic in Supra Classifieds
I'll happily give testament to how clean this car is. I looked at quite a few when I was buying, and none came close to how good Pete's is. I know that this is a regrettable sale, but it would make an outstanding purchase for someone. If I hadn't already bought one I'd have your arm off mate! GLWTS -
No worries mate

Guildford Tyre Co were always good when I lived down that way

Ah, no. Same industry by the sounds of things, but different place!

I got all excited then, before realising you're in Wiltshire. I work in Thames Valley Park in Buckinghamshire and my Supra is Silver

The thing that disappointed me about the 1M is that it produces almost exactly the same power as the NA engine in a Z4M, despite being an almost identical engine with 2 turbos strapped to it. That, if nothing else, shows that BMW have de-tuned it to avoid it competing with the M3. Still, potential for a remap...

Newbie, not to Toyota, but looking for a Supra
benedwards64 replied to benedwards64's topic in New Members
Well, I'm really starting to make progress now. The car is still running like a dream after the service! I'll have a brand new set of Bilstein shocks and CW springs on order tomorrow, then she'll be going in for quite a lot of work: Fit new suspension parts Find/fix all those other lovely suspension clunks Sort out the weird vibration that I'm getting from the clutch/flywheel area Replace clutch (doesn't really need doing, but it seems prudent while the gearbox is off) This little lot will probably cost almost as much as I bought the car for, but I'm happy to do it. I've learnt from bitter (and expensive) experience with previous cars that it's worth doing it properly the first time round! This should (fingers crossed!) be all for the time being, so it'll all be tip-top in time for JAE. Can't wait -
It's all down to personal preference really - I joined both when I got my MR2, but over time I stayed with IMOC. They'll both be a good resource, I just tend to recommend IMOC as that's where I've always gone
-
Nice! Got a big soft spot for MR2s, I had my Mk1 for over 18 months. Head over to the IMOC forum for info/advice etc, they're a good bunch

I work in sales for an IT reseller and have done for a couple of years now. It was a grad scheme so the basic is pretty low, but in my second year I took home a decent wage for someone my age (24) and it's looking good for the next year too. It's not necessarily the safest job to go into - attrition rates in the first year are very high, either people consistently fail to hit targets or find that sales isn't for them. You need to be very honest with yourself here - I'm assuming a lot of your job will be telephone-based, with face-to-face meetings as well? Consider how much you actually like talking to people on the phone, how good at it you are, and how well you come across to other people. If you're cold-calling, chances are you'll be speaking to people who get 10-15 calls a day and you really have to make yourself stand out to make any progress. You need to be thick-skinned, to - people often won't want to talk to you, but you need to win them round. I'm lucky where I am, because the customers I obtain via cold-calling I get to keep, so 2 years in my role is about 90% account management and 10% cold-calling. I had dabbled a bit in domestic sales a few years perviously, but otherwise this was my first taste of it. I don't want to put you off, mind. Sales can be a very rewarding (not to mention lucrative) career. If you're not hitting targets you want to be with a company that works with you to resolve any issues, rather than just stack the pressure on. As long as you're open, personable and articulate (you write very well, which puts you head and shoulders above about 90% of the population already!) you should be OK - you just need to be willing to get out of your comfort zone and push yourself a bit. It sounds like this is the sort of challenge you're after anyway, so I'd say go for it. Don't be put of by selling a service, either - companies are constantly reviewing service-providers so there's plenty of opportunity out there if your offering is up to scratch.

Red Supra driving into Henley this evening

Was driving the GF's car, a silver porker 996 cab -
About 6.30ish. I was in the girlfriend's car so you wouldn't have clocked me. Very tasty-looking car
-
It's only slight on mine, and seems to get better (although not disappear completely) when everything's nice and warm.
-
Thanks Marc - yes, should have said it's an NA. So, gearbox off job by the sounds of things - it's probably worth changing the clutch while I'm at it...

Hi everyone, Bit of a funny one here. I've just done a full service on my supra and the engine is running beautifully, not misfiring or anything. However, I seem to have a bit of a vibration as if something is out of balance. This is most noticeable between 3k-5k rpm. It occurs whether the car is stationary or moving, both in and out of gear, so nothing to do with the diff or prop-shaft. Having spoken to a couple of people we're thinking that the clutch-plates or flywheel could be out of balance - the clutch does feel like it's seen better days, but doesn't slip at all. Is there anything else I should be checking? Many thanks in advance

Thanks for the welcome everyone Well I've had a pretty constructive weekend on the car - with the help of Pete Mason the cam-cover gaskets, oil, filter, leads, plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm have all been replaced. It's running a million times better now; god only knows how long the previous plugs were in there but it was barely firing at all on cylinder 6 - I would think the car was around 70-80bhp down on what it should be. Still, running like a dream now Next job, suspension... -
My first car was a 1.0l Citroen AX, and it was pretty spot on for what I needed. They're less popular than 106s and Saxos so insurance should be more friendly. Bit out of left field perhaps, but why not go for a classic? Pre-'72 Mini, Morris Minor, Beetle, MG Midget etc - they'll be tax exempt and insurance should be pretty low, especially if you can get a classic policy. A few people at my college had old Beetles and Mrrris Minors, and their insurance was a lot less than anyone else's.

I think it varies from car to car to be honest. A little while ago I had an MG ZS180 (the V6 model). the airbox on this is identical to that on the 1800 K-series, and as a result is severely restrictive. I've run various N/A and turbo cars, and I can safely say that this is the only occasion when fitting a good-quality aftermarket filter has made a noticeable difference to anything other than noise. If the stock setup on the Supra is as good as everyone says it is, then you're probably best staying put. Rolling Road results may favour the cone filter, but real-world scenarios (hot/cold days, traffic etc) will probably mean the cold-air ducted standard filter is more consistent. As for induction roar, this is more personal preference really. Personally I rather enjoy it Must be a hooligan, clearly

Do these lower the ride height at all? Also (sorry, newbie) I assume they'll fit a '95 NA?
