  1. Had a thought last night regarding induction kits. Recently I fitted an Apexi Induction filter to by NA. Problem is that it pulls in the air from basically inside the engine bay. My thinking is, is it possible to build an enclosure for the filter and run piping from the air con and fill the enclosure with nice ice cold air controlled from in the car. This way the filter will be drawing in nice cold air which I hear is much much better. Only problem is would the benefit be 0 because when the air con goes on you lose power but will it be made up by the increase of cold air being drawn in. Am I taking complete shit or does this sound half logical? I know I could just reroute the filter to draw air in from the outside but I figure the loss in an indirect air flow would reduce power as well and also I think the air con would be much colder than the outside air. David
  2. The band expander is only for the Jap headunit. If you are getting a new H/U then you don't need the expander.
  3. Isn't Nitrous like a no no with Insurers. Is it really worth going through with an install. Of course the answer is Yes!!! But seriously though have you looked into the Insurance stuff and if so let me know!!!!!!!! I have been told that you would definitly need a progressive controller but they are not cheap. I am sure your engine would be fine with just a 75bhp blad of the funny gas, depending on mileage of the car. Why don't you try going for a custom mapped ECU which would be cheaper and more reliable and insurance friendly. I'm sure you can squeeze a few extra horses out this way.
  4. As per the SZ in postion 4 of the photo. Looks like a throttle position sensor then!
  5. I know my descriprion is a bit vague, sorry about that Don't think its the traction control cos its not fitted to my SZ. Looks very similar to the idle speed controller and is just to the right hand side of it on the throttle body!
  6. Sorry I don't have a picture but I will try to explain. Next to the idle speed controller there is another bolt on thingy into the throttle body like the idle speed controller. Anyone know what this is? Ta David
  7. Mines also a 94 N/A but a manual. Mine did this but only when cold. I bought a can of Carb cleaner and sprayed it inside the throttle body. (Take black hose off and give it a damned good blast especially down the little hole on the right hand side. It would appear that my throttle body was full off cack because the last owner never really looked after the car.) When checking for fault codes on mine it did'nt come back with any. Check the connector on the Idle speed control aswell, it may have just come loose. After I fixed mine mine now runs too damned high (Circa 12-1300rpm when warm) I have adjusted the throttle cable adjust but no difference. Even treid retarding the dizzy but its retarded to the max. Hope this helps David
  8. Nathan Just clicked on your website and onto upgrades for NA Supra Engine: HKS Uprated camshafts and adjustable cam gears £780.00 ????????????????????
  9. Thanks Nathan I was just thinking of all the possiblilties of extra hp for my Supe. Glad someone told me that no cams will fit. Why not by the way, is that area completely different to the TT. I am seeing Leon tommorow and going to go through with him all possibilites of what I can and can't do. I guess I just want to be different and this is why I won't sell my NA and buy a TT. David
  10. Cheers for the info guys. I know an Induction kit and exhaust make sod all difference to performance. I only got them for the sound really. Supraforums does'nt seem to be working at the mo which is a pain. I was looking at 264 cams, but a lot of people say you don't really get much bhp for your £ with cam work. Is it worth just changing the pulleys? As for an lumpy idle I will be uprating the fuel pump, fitting bigger injectors and fitting and AFC so surely this will be able to map out the idle probs? I will be looking long term to go for a single turbo conversion on my NA. Why??? Cos I want to I have managed to source a 1.2HKS HG for £44 which is rather nice . What I want to do is source all the parts to make the internals strong, being a J-Spec I have no idea of the engines history so stripped down to the HG should give me the chance to inspect some vital parts for wear. Is it worth having the head ported and flowed as I am going to this much trouble. David
  11. Would I have any benefit from fitted the following to my SZ: HKS Cams HKS 1.2mm Headgasket Already fitted on my SZ are: HKS De-cat Apexi Induction Kit Thanks David
  12. I have seen these in Japan and I am going to ask if they can do a MPH version, would anyone be interersted? http://img34.ac.yahoo.co.jp/users/4/4/5/2/suna1106-img600x450-1053083334gn-2-01.jpg http://img34.ac.yahoo.co.jp/users/4/4/5/2/suna1106-img600x450-1053083342s11.jpg http://img34.ac.yahoo.co.jp/users/4/4/5/2/suna1106-img400x600-1053083349gn-2-03.jpg Being advertised at Y5500 which is roughly £28.80 David
  13. Did you manage to get the new figures from the readouts. I thought its best to have the front cat on and not the second. Or just bung both of them back on in the first place?
  14. Just get him to make sure the cats are warmed up properly.

    IAC Valve

At long long long last managed to get this sorted. I got bored yesterday and took the throttle body off my car. Bought a large can of carb and air intake cleaner and blasted the shit out of the throttle body. Put it all back together and fired it up. Idles a treat now.
  16. Can any one tell me what the what white fuse/relay is in the top left of this picture? Ta David http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/ecu_reset/ecu_reset.jpg

    Apexi Rsm

Does anyone have one fitted to a NA? I fitted my old one from my old celica but the speed is way out like at 30mph it reads 40kph. It should be reading closer to 50 if coming straight from the ECU (30mph=50kph'ish) What settings do you have setup? Thanks David
  18. 1) New boot rubbers from Toyota about £10 total. Bitch too change though. 2,3,4,5) Don't know 6) Toyota Stock pads are as good as any, at the end off the day you have a high performance car thats gonna need stopping so I would avoid using cheap pads. If you do use cheap pads then eventually you will need new discs. David
  19. Scott Its just the second cat that has been removed. Have'nt really much performance difference but does sound better. Fitting an Apexi Induction kit when it arrives from Japan soon and that should sound nice and hopefully kill some of the deadness below 5000rpm
  20. Only a HKS De-cat pipe but these problems were the same before it was fitted
  21. Answers above, ThunDeR would love a TT but I had my reasons for the N/A
  22. I'm not sure if I have a problem or not but..... I have a problem with the car not ticking over from cold which we still have'nt worked out the problem for that yet but I think its related somehow to my acceleration (Possible Problem). I have had the car at Leons and had my Cambelt cahnged and he checked the diagnostic codes.....none came back. My timing was way out anyway but Leon has had this all set up now but still has'nt cured cold tick over. Now down to my possible acceleration problem. Sometimes when I boot it it accelerates quite dull and other times it has a boost like kick at 5000rpm. I know its a N/A but I swear it should accelerate alot smoother and quicker than what it does. The things I think could be problem areas are: Temperature control sensor (Cold idle) Fuel Pump Fuel pump ECU? Questions on a postcard David
  23. ? Driver side window switch needed and heater contols. Ta David
  24. I ran a search duh and found an old thread on replacing the fuel filter!!! I have seen a mod on the US Supra site with the fuel pump mod turning it from a dual mode low/high to just a high constant. Is there anyone that has done this and is there any benefit on a NA? Cheers David
  25. Any nasty suprises when I do this. Do I need to depressure the fuel system so it does'nt act like a slit artery. Obvious thing I thought of 1) Do with bugger all petrol left in the tank. Its a NA by the way. What is all the talk about the fuel pump 12V fix and where is it. Ta David
