  1. Considering the getrag still make bulletproof gearboxes for BMW's it seems like a good option to get a decent conversion plate and run one of those. Was hoping a reputable brand would of picked this up by now, as we just have some dodgy eastern Europeans drifters producing them, which is a bit hit and miss from my experiences.
  2. Might as well check the crank angle sensor whilst you are down there as well. Had a very similar issue after putting together a 1JZ and turned out to be the crank sensor wiring was frayed.
  3. Car looks stunning dude, especially in those pro photos!
  4. Right but if you give people the choice like they have now, you end up with situations like this. If the road is classed as public during tourist sessions then you can't expect people to wear safety gear even if it is the wiser choice and you can't point the finger of them being fools. Driving to morrisons could involve a massive accident, it only takes one idiot/mistake. Sure the chance is higher on the ring, but if regulations don't dictate otherwise then it will keep happening regardless of people being foolish or not. That is the root of the safety issue in my opinion
  5. It's a public road when anyone is on. Rules and regulations apply from the road. And you were the one quoting heads exploding at 15mph. I agree with the safety concerns, but in my view you either make the ring not open as public road, or you do and don't get anal about safety.
  6. "Careful dear, don't forget your 6 point harness and full roll cage. Driving to Morrisons can be dangerous!"
  7. I agree At the end of the day those people are making their own decision to drive on the ring. Whilst being a public road it certainly isn't just a pop down the shops. Given the history of the track, you would have to be seriously ignorant not to realize that the worst could happen on that track regardless if you are a regular person or niki lauda. Obviously tragedies like this happen and it's not nice, but thats the risk you take. No one is forcing them any of the involved parties to be there at the end of the day, everyone is choosing to be there and must accept the risks in turn. If the ring is to be open to the public as a public road then enforcing hardcore safety policies will kill off the participation of most drivers and I don't believe should be enforced. That level of safety should be reserved for those competing in races. That said, Reactive driving to situations that only become apparent as you turn a corner at silly speeds is inviting accidents to happen and is a huge gamble for most drivers. I do believe increasing awareness of track dangers via electronic flagging systems should be improved as a precaution.
  8. put some effort it in at least. how about some photos for a start?
  9. Interested in just the EDFC if you consider splitting.
  10. Steering cowl NA radiator with auto oil cooler. Oem or aftermarket, (looking for one that allows for normal size PS hoses to be attached so i can ditch ugly stock cooler) NA fan shroud (no broken clips etc) Battery Tray + Holder Stock airbox lower and upper intake plastics Rear drop links powersteering pump rebuild kit Front wheel arches
  11. You would be mad to swap a UK TT6 for a scooby
  12. I wonder how many more attacks it will take before Germany finally pulls their socks up
  13. Heaven forbid anyone causes you distress over the internet
  14. What machine is he using, you might have the awnser so many people are looking for !!
  15. Honestly thought the wheels wouldn't look great this color but they do. Well done man looks awesome
  16. Short answer, no easy way to get it working, adapters don't seem to work. Slightly longer answer, allegedly only some readers can do it, and are either really expensive for the average person or are in japan and in Japanese. There was a thread a while ago on the canadian supra forums where some guy was developing and selling an ODB1 reader, but even when he got it working it was very limited with what it was able to report on. Both diagnostic ports on a Jspec NA are ODB1. We will have to settle with the good old paperclip diagnostics
  17. must be that time of the week again. deja vu
  18. TT & NA prefacelift are the same. And yes there are only two, one for each bracket.
  19. If you want genuine toyota then whifbitz or toyota themselves. If you want a pattern part then RockAuto US has them for good prices.
  20. You can only drive yours on the track however? Controlling 700hp on a crappy b-road with traffic compared to a prepped track is probably a little harder, or at least requires more concentration/discipline
  21. If you are building the car so you can show off at static car shows and down the pub then yeah go 1000hp. If you actually want a satisfying road experience on UK roads then get a responsive turbo that will get you there quickly, rather than blowing the tyres off for the first 4 gears. Response > Total Power
  22. Upload to an image hosting site like Imgur if you can't figure out how to use the forum image host. Also that ECU part number was only used on j-spec non turbo prefacelift & facelift models. So it should be working with MAP sensor and OBDI, only the US spec NA supra's come with the other setup. If we are assuming that the second ECU is in working condition then I can't really think of why diagnostic port would not be working, unless you have a dodgy earth somewhere. As for idle rev jumping I would check over TPS/IACV with a multimeter as specified in repair manual. Follow this by checking for vacuum leaks and correct VSV operations (also specified in repair manual). Or if easier, find someone with a known working ECU, hot swap them over and see if you still have issues.
