How long has it been? Mine was off the road for five years. It's an amazing feeling when its back driving.
-
Dash looks awesome buddy!
-
Yeah good advice there from Style there. A rebuild will always be nice. But lots of people run the GTE or GE engine at 600 without a rebuild. Some need a rebuild without going single!
-
Who fitted the ecu?
-
I take my turbo feed from an oil filter plate. Not sure what flow the vvti needs. But surely be able to do the same thing?
-
Stock vvti engine will be weak. Cheapest way would be to buy a non vvti GE engine and swap the vvti onto it. Fast spoiling 600hp all day long! What ecu did they have? I think that can make a huge difference. My syvecs has pulled the odd error code which other ecus might have missed and then boom!

I like the car. Think it's cool a Supra got onto TV for any reason. I do worry about the kit fitment. As I got my bumper from the same manufacturer and bumper needed work. I just hope without wrap guys dont have too many problems to paint. I think playing down the Supra is to build a contrast when it's done. Can see why people got a bit upset by it. It's all a bit of fun.

David. Now the happy and lucky owner of a 600hp car. I can now say that I no longer wish for more power but more speed. Traction is an issue. Want lower down power. It's all in the collectors interest for rises andni think it's due to that these cars are shooting up in value.
-
Yeah mate, i my R154 died i'm screwed. And wouldnt replace but upgrade. The market seems to be driven by collectors and that isnt only affecting the totally standard ones. So I think if the purists still have no impact on value. Then the reliability will be the main factor. I would love certain modifications to add real value. This would be one of the top ones for sure.

The tremec is so heavily supported. It would just make sense to go down that road. Due to the continuous support of the T56 I believe it will soon add the same value a v160 would. People will just call it another variant of the bullet proof 6speed TT.
-
The hardest part is faffing with the power steering res. Dont buy any fittings until you mock up the manifold and see if you need a 90 or 45 degree fitting. The TT uses a 45 degree but you may need a more expensive 90 degree one. You'll also need to move your battery. Dont forget your IACV if you arent using an ECU that can delete it. I can also highly advise on spending out on a decent throttle body. Whifbitz put an electronic one on mine in the end. Harness cover also needs to be removed for a lot of it and injector clips may need wires extending. You'll find all this out on the mock up though I'm sure. Not auto related. But hope it helps

Your compression ratio in my opinion has zero to do with any of your issues. Put the forum down... go find your boost leak mate! Less pondering more pipe checking!
-
You've posted you have a power issue. How much time have you spent looking for pipe issues?
-
Sounds like you have a boost leak. Zero boost would sound like a drop in power. Rather than a compression issue. Check all your intercooler couples and small vacuum hosing.

I still dont really understand what you're saying. Not sure if you're just frustrated or trying to explain yourself. But I'm finding a lot of your posts quite confusing I'm afraid. Make a small list of your issues and approach two options. 1. Take it back and resolve the issue with Craig. 2. Take it somewhere else and let them review it with your list. Stabs in the dark as Adam puts it, achieve nothing for you and speculation from others or yourself mate wont fix anything. Its guess work. Forum tuning is sadly unable to help. They are your only two options as I see it. I can recommend Whifbitz.

I don't really understand the issue. Adam's the only one who's admitted having no idea about GE engines. Hes also right. You risk power without changing the headgasket. Its been done but it's much higher risk. Everyone can wave the GTE flag but I dont really understand the issue. My NAt setup of 600hp has taught me only go the GTE route if you haven't got an NA. Otherwise you save money. But if I was going to do another project car. I'd make my life easier and go GTE in the first place and only due to components being cheaper and the setup being more ideal for 600hp. 25% power loss, Herb do you have a dyno curve to show this? I know you lose a bit of response but after my first NAt install when I got used to the power my perception changed and it felt slower not long after. Which is why everyone chases power. You've gone from 220hp to 400hp yet you're saying a drop in horsepower 25%. Before we all give you a shoulder to cry on mate is that a made up number or do you have a dyno showing rpm and hp rating. Where is your data. I fitted a TT gasket. Hardly noticed a difference. I have same compression as you. Ster clear of a GTE engine. Your need new harnesses. Ancillary components. Turbo manifolds. It's not just swap the long block. Its mega bucks. And they have a compression ratio even lower! Though a smaller turbo makes up for the difference. The compression ratio you have will be BETTER than a single turbo TT setup (typically unless they do a high compression engine build). So I dont understand your warning here mate? I dont get what you think you've screwed up? Does the car just feel delayed? A pump injectors and remap wont fix your problem. Itll only give you more power and not power low down. Thatll be fue to the tune itself. More fuel wont fix that IF its the problem. The parts you say you need dont give lower down response. The tune would be the important factor buddy.

Style is right Making a change for performance and not monitoring the output is dangerous and can blow your engine. I wouldnt have changed anything personally without speaking to Craig. Its madness mate to take anyone's advice on here or even discussing it further without speaking to Craig and going over the situation. All speculation or fiddling does it delay resolution to your situation.

A BOV is a dump valve herbie. Have a gander on YouTube for the explanation of both. It will help you understand the requirement for the ports. You need clearer photos of your wastegate. This is why I relocated my wastegate into the engine bay, as photos/issues are a pain with it under the car. Your photo sadly doesnt indicate make model or clear definition on any further available ports.

I've never seen a car with so many odd coloured panels still look so clean. Great price for a Supra in current market. I'd definitely get an MOT. Cheap 50 quid if the car sells buddy. GLWS

It uses the meduza kit. I enjoyed fitting their gt300 front bumper when I done my wide arch. Car looks cool. Thanks for uploading to share!

Have you spoken to Rocket Dog. If you've had a change since the visit then it's impossible to connect the two in my opinion. A recent change losing power couldn't be blamed on something done before there was an issue. I'd speak to him. I've never seen someone black off using a knot. That doesnt seem like a method to blank off

Really interesting. I have an OCDworks T51R modded turbo, their 6251R. So there's no friggin way anyone's not going to hear mine I wonder what a T51R mod would sound like on a log manifold.

Unless you're going for 1000hp or money isnt an option I dont see the value in spending the earth on a manifold. Admittedly I modified mine so it needed a skim on the flange. I rotated my wastegate outlet so it sat next to the turbo. Then I cleaned up any internal welds and smoothed inside best I could. I manufactured an adaptor for the 4bolt to vband allowing me to run a 60mm turbo smart wastegate. I opened up the bore size to match the 60mm wastegate entry point. Whifbitz words were I had rock solid boost control which he was surprised at being a low end manifold. I braced it and one I did have a small crack which was easily welded. Distortion caused the crack from the huge rotation on the WG outlet tubes I believe. I run 22psi on a 62mm turbo with no problems. The manifold cost me less than a tyre and yes I see value in thick wall and thick flange manifolds but I can repair mine and save myself hundreds if not thousands on a manifold and I'm not limited to horsepower (currently). 500ish is the log manifolds limit. I see 603hp and ran 417hp for 4 years without any issue. I cant recall my EGT when at 417hp as my gauge is disconnected but I remember them being sensible and i only had a piggy back ECU then. Style im surprised you blame the manifold for lack of turbo noise. I've never heard that before! But it would make sense. Yes maybe top end manifolds have improved flow. But on a road car in a non race situation is it really going to be that critical. Personally I couldn't afford to invest in the manifold because that money to me, didnt warrant enough of an improvement (to myself anyway). My advice to anyone buying new. Is you will pay a lot of money for a pretty looking manifold. But prioritise what's important. If you CAN afford to. Get the best. A repair would be a ball ache. But it could happen on any manifold to be fair. But many cheap manifolds haven't failed. So it's your choice. I'd stick with tubular if you're making the kit yourself though. Go for log for a purchased full kit or for spool. Not just for cost. Personally.
