i believe the clusters new from toyota are about 90 a pair, youve got one on your car allready, so were talkin 270 for the other 3 pairs if you go to yota!!!!! then if you want the proper silvervision bulbs that are silver till they light up, theyre about 20 a pair!!! so 300 plus quid!!! best thing to do is scour the scrappies, theres loads of rear damaged supes out there, n if the clusters damaged the scrappy'll probly give you it, n its only the clear lense you need, so it dosent matter how knackered the cluster is! an easyer route is to get another pair of clusters then you can have clear red red clear clusters, thats what im doing but with facelift lenses, theyre much nicer, but alot more expensive, infact the jap pre facelift might have gone up in price recently as well, general rule of thumb, you'd have to be daft to buy the clusters new, but it isnt an easy task finding them scrap either coz everyone wants em. keep an eye on the soon to be started dude thread for my modded rear clusters, theyre gonna look way better than dudes all clear ones, (assuming he dosent sabotage them!!! )

oxygene, you need 2 sets of UK pre facelift and 2 sets of jap pre facelift, some glue, coloured bulbs and at least 20 quid to get your wife/GF out of the house for a couple of hours while you ruin her oven and make the house smell like a glue factory!!! (you need the UKs coz the 2 middle lenses are a wee bit bigger than the outside ones), so 4 UK or 4 jap wont do. Thats why you cant go facelift clear, which would look the dogs, coz theres no UK facelifts,

In 10 years time the manual box as we know it will be history
albundy68 replied to Chris Wilson's topic in mkiv Technical
wonder what the costs would be to convert a supra box, any thoughts chris??? im thinking not cheap, initially at least... -
you just need to hook the wires up, to piggy back off the sidelights, then a switch in the stobe wiring would stop them from comming on everytime you put yer sides on, as in switch off, you could still have your sides on, switch on, you could have sides and strobes on, - but then you couldnt have the strobes on without the sidelights... and that'd solve the powering issues, but yeah youre still gonna need to drill to get the strobes in the headlight, anyhow if you work it out, do tell, cant beat a bit of high speed driving with the blue lights blazing, (on a private road, of course!!!)
-
impersonating a police officer!!! - i like it!!! got the sidelights in the UK headlights working no problem on my facelift car just by hooking them up to the lower sidelights so both pairs come on at once, but i guess youre gonna need switch else you'd 'ahem' strobe, everytime you have your sidelights on, then as long as they run on the same voltage it ought to work i would have thought???

none taken at all fella, maybe im spending too much time locked in a room with 'my precious' ...i mean my rear clusters. i'd be interested in a group buy as long as they werent astronomically priced, n since they need you to either send them a pair of clusters, or buy a new set im guessin they aint gonna be cheap, bet they look class though! if i ever get a digi cam ill do a pic of my modded facelift clusters, they look pretty good, and'll look better when i get the surrounds spreyed to match the car colour.

wasnt the whole top gear/fifth gear brake up coz clarkson wanted to go more racey and quinton wanted more of a 'what car' serious type prog, top gears quality entertainment, if you want to hear about the new focus, buy 'what car' or summit, coz faced with the choice of watching a lambo or a focus zooming round a track on a sunday night i know what i, (and prob 99% of top gear fans) would go for!!! - and the supes definately 'SUB ZERO!!!'
-
didnt say it couldnt be done, i said you need to bend the LED 90 degrees from its mounting, these guys obviously have come up with a way, but it aint as simple as fitting the LED bulbs chris was on about, if only it was...
-
wonder where the supe would go on thge cool wall??? they were dissing the mkvi celica the other week, did anyone catch that??? (not on the cool wall, on one of the reviews, think it was that new mazda)

dunno, my broker was of the oppinoin that if an ins comp has payed out on a car for its full value, they consider it to be worth much less, which in my case is a bit shocking because the damage was basically front/rear bumpers!!! if they wanted to write it off give me full value then let me buy it back, i wasnt gonna complaine, but if because i dint fight them on it n let them write it off when there was nothing wrong with it theyre gonna be able to sting me with insurance for the rest of my life, then i might have made a mistake... time will tell i guess... n yeah its all from my incident nearly a bloody year ago, been faffin with insurance company, an waiting for my TRD widearch kit to arrive - watch out for a 'dude loosing his widearch fitting virginity' thread early in the new year! - with graffic full frontal close up pictures!!!
-
trust me, cant be done without getting the LEDs that are on chris's site streeeeeetching them out and bending them 90 degrees, i looked long and hard into it, coz ive been trying to put together the first set of clear facelift clusters, - but unfortunately its impossible, - and not coz of bulb availability, though thats not great, its all to do with the fact that your 2 centre lenses are slightly larger than the 2 outside ones in the cluster... oh i could bore you for hours with useless cluster related info...

the problem is the mountings for the bulbs in the rear lights, the bulbs are mounted vertically, like they would be in say, a table lamp. Then the light is focused from the bulb using a reflective surround behind the bulb. Not like in many cars where the bulbs are horizontally mounted with their tops facing out of the rear of the car, (like if you glued your table lamp to a wall) so... you can get LED lights that fit the mountings but they'll be pointing in the wrong direction, and LEDs need to be pointing in the direction that theyre gonna be used, (not like the bulbs). so... you need a led light with a 90 degree bend between the part that mounts and the part that shines. and i need to get a life and stop playing with my 3 sets of rear light clusters!!! (my supes been at dudes for far too long...) (oh n the bulbs chris is on about will be facing up not out so wont work properly, - thats what i was getting at above...)
-
- obviously after theyve fixed the damage, ive just been speaking to my broker and cars that have allready been payed out on are a b*tch to insure as theyre v difficult to value... anyone experienced this???
-
dont waste yer money on 6 pots ste, read this, http://mkiv.com/tmp/pulp_friction/ then get UK brakes, and invest the change in RLTC, - its a life saver!
-
didnt the garage do a service on the car before you got it? bloody typical, n yup as above top up the fluid, it might just be that when youre flying about the levels are creaping down, causing the alarm bells to ring, does the light(s) stay on permanently or are they just on when hammering the brakes??? top her up n if its not sorted have a good look at the pads, if theyre ok, then you can get worried!!!
-
the mirror is still attached to the door, i bought it coz i thought i needed a new one but it turns out mine was ok, i havent had a good look inside the door at how its fixed in etc, but i assume its all working, there certainly dosent look to be anything wrong, i was under the impression that all j spec mirrors were foldy in though, and all UK were heated, i'd best double check it is a motor'd foldy one though, because ive never had it on my car, does that mean that theres supes out there with mirrors that dont have a motorised fold or a heater in them??? - boring!!!
-
i got a spare foldy motor mirror for drivers side, if your car isnt gunmetal grey it'll need a sprey, or maybe you could just use the internals, pm me an offer if you want it.

HELP!!! Any Facelift Supe owners out there???
albundy68 replied to albundy68's topic in mkiv Technical
cheers fellas! the parts numbers on the ones they sent me were 14-680, so i reccon 14-185 will be the code i need, ive just called the guy i deal with at toyota and he's not in today, when ive talked to him ill let you know the price, the ones ive got (pre facelift), were 33.50 each plus VAT, absolute bargain!!! hope the facelift ones arent loads more! oh n monkey, dont worry about the key hole its the same on all of them, (ive got 2 pairs pre facelift n a pair post facelift that're broken), the only issue is the fittings for the bulb holders, theyre different on the UK spec, at least (possibly all pre facelift) rear clusters. -
Can someone (with a facelift mkiv) be really nice and have a look at their rear light clusters (with the grey surround), and tell me the part numbers for them, the number is on the bottom right of the clear plastic cover i think, n i need both sides. dispite stressing to my toyota dealer that i needed the facelift clusters, they went n got me the pre facelift, im not shure i trust them to get the right part numbers 'all by themselves' lol (cant check mine coz the plastic covers on both mine are smashed, doh!)
-
still, £75 or remove a piece of amber plastic from your allready clear lenses? i know which i'd go for! is it titanmotorsports that do em for £75 a pair?
-
you got a good deal there fella, the RRP on glas headlights is around £240 each! that is with all the bulbs n stuff though,
-
reccon your toyota dealers wrong Rahul, (it happens, trust me!!!) supras have never had indicators in their headlights, the lights youre thinking of are deffinately sidelights, theyre in there coz the pre facelift UK supes didnt have sidelights incorporated into their front indicators like the facelifts, so you could end up with 4 sidelights if you wanted, if not, just dont hook them up. £250 was that for each glass headlight without bulbs or for both???
-
clear with amber insert indicators were on all facelift supes. Ive had mine out to take a look, if anyone works out a way to remove the amber bit i'd like to know about it. Problem with buying a new set of clears is they cost £100+ expensive when the facelift ones are allmost clear anyway. Carefull with buying bulbs for imports as well, cant speak for all jap supes, but mine uses different bulb fittings for all indicators, making the aquisition of sliver(with yellow flash) bulbs a bit of a nightmare!

theres a few threds on this if you do a search, if its not all coming out, why not try filling it with water running the engine to circulate, and flushing again, and again... till it gets nice and clean, think the mkiv.com thing on flushing uses a special unit that forces water through the system, much easyer, but cant say ive heard of anyone using one over here... i havent done mine yet, but need to do it soon, so if anyones done it n has any further tips, i'd like to hear them as well as swamp.
