My name is luke and i come from A.F.R tuning , please pm me and i can sort this problem for you ! It is nothing you are doing wrong ,but a glitch in the base config map file. sorting can be as easy as loading the file i send you ..i have raised this issue with link uk and had little joy . Any way pm me chap and we can get you passed your invisable limiter .. regards luke//

I take your point jamie but like said why risk this? I may be a bit of a geek (handsome one at that) when it comes to this sort of thing but voltage ,resistance, ohms, ecus is my thing. You may say yours is ok but what you cant see is ryans battery adder table to see what sort of voltage correction level he is using?? Your car is mental mate and in putting a patch loom in it you have just introduced another 34 odd ways for the car to go wrong ... Im not being a pompus prick but mearly trying to share my findings over my endless years fighting with cars for power lol

Very good read, and perfectly true, as i stated in one of my earlier posts all the boards are the same. There are a couple of things that confused me about mark c 's post but ill call life in the morning before raising a question. Ps. dudes car is on the full f88 so we have sequential spark and 12 injector fueling.....As i stated before with cars as special as jamie p's and dudes etc out there WHY in gods name leave the std car loom to chance and introduce another problem point with a patch loom ..??? Ill speak with life in the moring and re post .. regards luke

Due to the fact i am a life dealer and have been mapping them for the last four years i convinced dude the life ecu was the way to go ... This is due to the amount of functions etc dude will be running. At the mo his car is running on a f con and std loom. This in my mind is giving a element of risk to running a high power car ..A std loom is an old item now with the potential to have varing resistances and voltage. This as we all no can cause major problems. It is not just about fitting a good ecu but making sure the wiring etc is up to the job as well. We all happy to fit a plug and play or ecu with adaptor loom with no thought to the integrety of the wireing or brittle old connectors that are needed to transmit the correct signal at the right time. We have had dudes car measured up for a loom witch will be made to military spec.this is with stainless high force terminals and silver wire.. The life ecu we are putting on dudes car is the top f88 as the f88 rs will not perform all the functions required.. I have seen references to life and syvecs and would just like to clarify that life racing sell the ecus to syvecs.. Life build the boards and supply the softwere and ecu without case. The syvecs is a cut down version of the f88 in firmwere and function eaven tho at a glance looks the same .. I was having a chat with mark and pat at life and just to explain the price difference is easy. Syvecs purchase 60 + units at a time without cases . No question they are both amazing ecus but why settle for the cut down version when you can have the best .. My main point as with any car and ecu set up is why spend all the money on your pride and joy making it 1000 bhp with everything you have ever wanted and leave the 12 odd year old loom to chance??? we can all just put plugs together but as for thinking about voltage drop and signal interferance well it is never given a thought.. Life are emailing me the difference between ecus as at face value there looks like none but the firware is quite different .. Apologise for my spelling you will get used to this lol ...

I agree that is why Matt gets that task lol:)

yes using the anolog output mate.

Crawley mate and nothing exciting for day to day but for fun dare i say the word on this forum lol an escoz race car i built for a friend 630 hp etc ..

still a topic with a good point to make no matter how old ?? This is a reference site after all

Its not about how well equiped the dyno is mate.. We have a Dyno Dynamics 450 and it has a recomended test speed as does every dyno. It is better to measure power at a slower speed for many reasons . Another factor is what type of dyno ie. braked or inertia. Most rollers as in the cylinder itself are only rated to 150 mph ..

Hi there as you all no new to the forum, Just wanted to get a feel of peeps views on stand alone ecu's and if any of you have gone for custom looms yet.. Im asking this as on dudes car now we are having a militery spec management loom made to go with the life ecu. I pushed dude towards this option as the little faults and connectors failing on the stock loom were getting silly for a car of this spec. One of the most common causes of problems on any race/road car is voltage drop. regards luke :

I wouldnt agree with you on this mate. A std ecu has a generic file on it which can not possibly from factory give every engine the same optimisation. Eaven tho every engine is built to the same spec on the bench they will never be optimised on the same map .. This said you could not gain the same results fitting a piggy back as you could a full stand alone. I have always said a stand alone ecu mod is a safe and sensible way to start you project or built ..

The fic deal will be put up in stages through the year dude .. Thanks for all the welcomes guys . Im working on a life racing ecu deal as well. ( this will include a proper loom not just a interface to std wiring) .. regards luke

thanks guys, i have known mat and john for some time now. Ill give you some specs etc on the life ecus on another thread.

thanks:)
