MR2 is fine for daily use, I lived with one as my only car for a few years and had no issues at all. You can fit suitcases in the back, there is storage in the front, behind the seats and the boot is a sensible size - designed to fit 2 bags of golf clubs if that helps give you an idea of size.
The Supra wins for visits to IKEA and other flat pack emporiums but the depth of the MR2 boot makes it more useful for shopping and things. When I got the Supra I missed the handy boot of the MR2, obviously we have the back seats but it's not quite the same.
Plenty of us have managed weekends at JAE with crates of beer, cool boxes, tents, clothes, washing equipment and so on... if you are good at Tetris an MR2 can be very practical indeed
