  1. OK. If you don't have the original wheels, then we need to find out what kind of brakes your car has. If it had 16" wheels when it left the factory then it would have had the "small" brakes (sliding calipers). If it had 17"s then it could have had either "big" (UK spec - fixed calipers) or "small" brakes, because at some point 17" wheels and UK brakes became an option on JDM cars. Simplest way to tell is to look at the calipers and either post a pic here or try to see if it has sliding calipers or not. Visually the big and small brakes are very different, but I'm at a bit of a loss how to describe it on here. At a guess from the model year I would say that you have the small brakes, unless someone has done an upgrade since.
  2. If you have 17" wheels then possibly. If you have 16" wheels then no. I don't have the numbers handy but I could find out later if no one beats me to it.
  3. Don't know if this is relevant or not, but the NA exhaust is completely different from the UK spec TT, all apart from the back box which (apparently) has the same bart number. Not checked this myself on EPCD, rather was told by a Toyota parts dept.
  4. My car is totally bog-stock (apart from the wheels and my rather brilliant rear lights, but we won't go into that ). I don't even have it delimited yet...
  5. I take it the speed delimter has been removed? Only kidding. Not much more to add to lust's post, except to say that a big exhaust on an NA is supposed to sound wonderful, by all accounts.
  6. Sorry. I skim read the first post and though the noise was heard when the car was stationary.

    SZ v SZ-R

I think all SZ-Rs have VVTi engines, but I may be wrong.
  8. PN for an 05/1993 to 05/1996 SZ: 35000-1B240 PN for an 05/1993 to 05/1996 GZ, RZ or RZS: 35000-1B310 So they must be different somehow. For information, the post 05/1996 numbers are different again.
  9. Can't say I've ever noticed a pipe there, but then again I've never looked. I think the buzz was the charcoal canister purging.
  10. If they are different I would think it was only in ratios and strategy, unless they tried to save a few yen by putting less strong gears in the NA box. The actual operation seems the same between the two, with the possible exception of how and when the NA box kicks down - i.e. now always when you want it to, which can be a bit annoying in a car which doesn't do much below 4000RPM
  11. Should be able to tell from the parts CD for sure. As a guess I would say they are different. I think the NA's box operates a different shift strategy to the TT's, as well as having (possibly) different ratios.
  12. I can "click here to send you an e-mail" from the BBS but I can't actually see your address so that I can send a mail with attachments. If you PM me your address, I'll try to get the diagrams off tonight.
  13. Check out the wiring diagrams on MKIV.com. I have them saved at home. If you e-mail me your e-mail address, I'll try to remember to send you the relevant page ASAP.
  14. The dash dimmer works by using a fixed 12V feed, and earthing all the dash blubs through a wire which can be set at anywhere from 0V (full brightness) to just under 12V (lowest brighness). When I first fiddled with it I assumed that the earth would be fixed at 0V and the feed to the bulbs would be variable, so I ended up with my dimmer working in reverse. DOH! Maybe you have a fixed 12V going to the "earth" side of the dash bulbs. What was it you were trying to do?

UK: 16100-49845 J: 16100-49845 (49846 from June 1995 onwards) For the V-belt tensioner assembly there are a lot of different parts for different transmission types. The parts below are for a 6 speed manual twin turbo, May 1993 onwards: Absorber sub assembly: UK: 16602-46010 J: 16602-46010 Tensioner assembly: UK: 16620-46070 J: 16620-46070 Arm, belt tensioner: UK: 16622-46010 J: 16622-46010 Please double check these before you order anything. I am still recovering from a Burns Night party yesterday, and my typing may be a little bit off.
  16. Sounds like a job for Mr. Betts. Check out the TRL website for all your speed delimiter needs... http://www.trlperformance.com
  17. Ian, its not funny, mocking the afflicted.
  18. That doesn't make any sense at all does it? How can you have high revs at idle? What I meant to say was (i.e. stationary).
  19. Pete, The boost control valve used on the V8 Esprit is an off the shelf part (made by AC Delco I think). It measures about 30mm square and is a variable bleeder "T" with hose connections for pressure in and pressure out. It has an integral bleed off to atmosphere. It is controlled by a variable frequency signal from the ECU. I can get more info including a part number if it sounds like what you want.
  20. Could be rings. I think high revs at no load (i.e. at idle) is the worst case for getting them to seal, so if they are on the way out this would be the first time they would leak. Enough people on the BBS have had turbo seals go to give you an indicator of whether its that instead.
  21. Alex, Its pages 136 to 139 of the USA electric manual on MKIV.com. I am e-mailling them to you as I type this.
  22. 1 kPa = 0.01bar 0.79 kPa = 0.0079bar No idea what an hkPa is though.
  23. I wouldn't be overly concerned. Engines are tested to simulate nearly all (reasonable) types of use these days, and as far back as the Supra engine. Plus you are warming it up beforehand.
  24. There was a lengthy thread about this a while back. I was as gobsmacked as you, Steve. I don't know about other Toyota engines, but apparently some guy in the states took one apart and deduced that it was non-interference.
  25. Hi and welcome to the board. Ummmm.... I might be speaking out of turn here but the TSW site does not list a wheel suitable for the MKIII Supra, let alone a MKIV. Just out of interest, how wide are your rear wheels? The tyres should be 255x40 on 17" rims at the rear.
