  1. Thanks Lee, can see a few more in the background
  2. Indeed that is the biggest problem right now but things are starting to happen and there are various places starting to reproduce most of the common parts.
  3. Hey guys, I use to be around here for the tech stuff as I 2j swapped a load of cars, am an engine builder and work with the r154 and v160 transmissions (never owned a mkiv ). A lot of my customers are telling me I should get back on here as there is a need for v160/1 repairs? Iv been stripping and rebuilding these boxs for around 8 years now, it was quite a surprise to me when I recently spoke to one of the traders on here and they said “no one in the U.K. specialise in these gearbox’s”. So obviously I know there are trading rules here, if you guys think there is enough demand and it’s ok with the club then I will look at becoming a trader. Many thanks Paul
  4. IV vented into the exhaust tail pipe before at 45degs, had gains of 5-10hp. Venting it into the intake system is not ideal, oil vapour lowers the octane rating of the fuel once in combustion chamber. Ok on a low spec car but big power it's a no no.
  5. Big case conversions normally work out £500-600 iirc.
  6. How much? Have to change the prop and shafts with them don't you? It's a customers car, I don't think he's going to budget for a big case, though he'll have to if he keeps blowing small case lol
  7. Ash rang you on my behalf lol. I have an originally auto 6spd manual here, with a blown diff. I want to know if the a02b is the correct replacement as if found one.
  8. As above really, what's a small 6spd diff worth?
  9. SRD? where do i find these? UK states? Has any one tried the GSC cams?
  10. Will be doing an engine refresh over the next month or two, currently running a gt35/86 at 675hp on totally stock engine. Bottom end is sorted, going forged .5 over size, rods, bolts bla bla bla The head, will have full Supertech valve train..... but im unsure what cams to go for, was initially thinking HKS 264 but im not sure theyl be too tame! But saying that im not really looking for any more top end power, just want to make it more lively. Iv found so many options out there and im guessing there are more than that too..... I did have a search but my search skills are prety weak!
  11. Had a good day! Used 8 tyres and only went on track 4-5 times! Thanks for having me guys
  12. Got another one of these for sale, with no harness but with both map and air temp sensors. Open to offers.
  13. No stronger really, as it's shock loading that brakes the washer. Even the uprated washers still can't take a hole load of abuse. The stock ones are too tough and this makes them brittle, uprated washers are not so brittle but wear out faster due to the properties.
  14. It's not the power which kills them, it's torque and how you use it. I.e road 800hp no probs, drag and drift you could smash a thrust washer with only 300hp. Iv smashed 4 washers, broken various hubs, rings, selectors and even totally shredded 2nd gear off of the shaft with less than 650hp, but that's drift with loads of traction.
  15. There are pics of the 350z pump fitted in my project thread. For elec systems iv done, the pumps have all had pressure releaf built in. I think if your doing it for power gains your pissing in the wind, not only does an elec pump draw more current probs about the same as a belt driven pump but also any elec pumps iv ever seen are over double the weight. If you want to save power, fit a bigger pulley to the pump, this will slow it down a tad and the effort needed to turn it is less. This is great for track driving as the fluid does not get as hot, the pressure is still regulated by the releaf valve, any thing over about 2krpm the releaf valve is working, so waisted energy above that rpm.
  16. Cheers guys, but I shaved a bit off of the starter, it's fine now
  17. Iv done a few conversions, no ecu or complicated stuff needed, just a 12v hydraulic pump with a pressure releaf valve, which switches on with ignition. Was going to do this on mine as I was fed up of the thing spitting belts off a craping pumps! But in the end I made a 350z pump fit the JZ, not had a problem since. Iv also fitted a 200sz s14 PS pump to another JZ and that also sorted all his problems.
  18. Hi guys, Just doing my 5spd to 6 speed conversion, the ACT flywheel is touching the starter (1jz/r154 starter), iv looked and see the v160 motor is actully differant! Any one shaved the bit off of the starter which it hits? Any one got a v160 starter for sale?
  19. Iv removed a few but never got them off with out a puller.
  20. Lol, your free to come down and have a look, iv got normally 10-20 prety epic cars at my unit, obv not going to put location on here but pm me if you wish. I often see 3 differant supras on my way to and from work, any one on here? On the a41 heading out of aylesbury to bicester.
  21. All the r154 gearboxes I used and broke I rebuilt and sold on, appart from one which was totally mashed and got used for parts.
  22. Sorry I don't know what you mean by the last sentence?
  23. Polo
