I believe the problems were with the nikasil engines fitted to the 325i and the 328i. The M3 uses a M derived engine which was completely different from the other engines of the range. The problem with the M3's is the Variable valve unit aka the VANOS unit which tends to fail and is quite expensive.

Why doesn't he just get a trickle charger they cost peanuts to run And if distance to a socket is a problem there are solar powered ones available. His excuse for selling sounds a little suspect to me. Make sure you check the VANOS unit as these are uneconomical to repair of replace as they are ludicrously expensive.

They are releasing a 1m which will be a m3 beater as it will be faster and about 10 grand cheaper

When I wrote off the saxo and rolled it onto the hard shoulder I got out and stood up the embankment behind my car. After watching police camera action, interceptors etc I know the dangers of sitting in your car waiting for assistance. But many people are ignorant to this, if you take a moment to think about the fact a few feet away cars are hurtling past at 70+ and could lose control at any moment you wouldn't hesitate to get as far away as you could.

Tried this now the alarm just keeps going off, however the siren under the bonnet only goes off when I touch it.

I disconnected the battery again and now the car has stopped alarming but it won't start anymore. When I turn the key in the ignition nothing happens, nothing at all it doesn't even attempt to turn over I just get dash lights. I also can here the fuel pump priming but when I attempt to turn it over I get a strange noise from the bonnet and nothing happens.

I turned off the horn as per instruction when disconnecting the battery and now its constantly alarming ..... and it won't re sync
