  1. The BMW forum were not surprised at the experience put it that way!
  2. Just an update to say what happened at BMW! I bought the car with an oil leak that I'd noticed, and after doing research I gambled that it was the seals on the intercooler hoses, that are known to perish. I managed to negotiate a sizeable amount off because of finding it, and took it to bmw thinking they could plug it in and tell me anything that was wrong, and also be able to give me the full picture on the oil leak, seeing as they would know it inside out. Dealer said that it needed new rear H arms due to split bushings, and a new lower turbo due to the seals leaking. Obviously I was gutted, £1600 for H arms and £2858 for the turbo replacement. I started thinking about where to get a new turbo and contacted eurocar parts, and thought about having it refurbed also. To help me understand what I would be working with I started asking more detailed questions on the codition of the turbo internals, to which they couldn't andwer, so wheeled out the senior technician who worked on the car to answer my questions. Turbo seals have gone he says, what about impeller shaft play I ask? Yes there's a lot of play in the shaft he says and goes on to describe what happens when it explodes. So I thank him for his time and take it to my normal friendly garage and I tell them BMW's findings with the agreement that they would do some stripping back and have a look at it and we would make a plan of attack from there. I phoned the next day for an update and spoke to the mechanic doing the work. He tells me the turbo is fine!, it's not what's leaking, there is no play in the impeller shaft, and that he found it had excessive crank case pressure and that a filter was missing that was letting oil get into the charge air system, and the seals on the intercooler hose were letting oil escape. He also said that nothing had been disturbed in a while, and that nobody had had anything off near the lower turbo to actually inspect it! How bad is that? I complained to BMW who offered to inspect again as a good will gesture, to which I told them I didn't want. To top it off my garage said the bushings on the rear H arms are fine also. All in the repairs cost under what I had off the car, so I'm happy about that, but what a brass neck by BMW!
  3. Have to say a bpu auto feels very much like both Still waiting on your reply on interiors:) Good find! Perhaps I assumed the optional upgrade came with a price. I still think it's the best autobox I've ever used. Even the 6 speed auto in the 535d isn't as enjoyable to use imo. (Might have something to do with nur spec r downshifts though )
  4. As far as I know, the euro spec/ uk spec are the same. Stand to be corrected though. I always heard the autobox was an optional "upgrade" and cost extra. Funny to think the less expensive 6 speed getrag would be so much more valuable in the future.
  5. My radio is the same as yours Rob, double din and cd changer in the boot. Silver 1995 with black leather. My old mkiii supra had a blue velvety headliner, seems Toyota were into it.
  6. +1 for black vinyl headliner. Always use v-power too, but that's more due to bpu
  7. Was the active spoiler or the car phone an option on the import?
  8. Didn't know the leather was different so what is better? You can add to the list Different 17" alloys Different camshafts Different waistgate Different Autobox (?) Rear fog light Resistor pack Different 80 litre fuel tank Passenger side airbag (was this available later on Jspec though) Different radiator (?) What about the drive shaft? I'm trying to think of things that weren't just available as upgrades like the uk brakes.
  9. I'll admit that the 3 spoke wheel looks better, but the optioned RZ-s , did that have the same spec leather etc as the UK? Or was that the GZ seats? (Genuinely don't know)
  10. I was the same, I wanted the black interior on black car too, but as you say, they just aren't about. I think I only ever seen it once. Ivory on red is a nice contrast For me though nothing beats the black leather interior on the uk spec
  11. I think you're right. I've seen white cars with ivory, but it could have been special order also.
  12. Stunning cars! Is the black car ivory or black leather inside? Way to go representing the Uk specs
  13. Not a bad price, and that's what they all look like once they have been on for a while. It's one of the most popular exhauststs for the supra, and sounds excellent. I reckon spending an hour with some autosol and that would come up great.
  14. That's a good increase It goes into BMW in the morning for a checkup, so I'll be able to know if there is anything needing attention.
  15. Looking good mate, I like black grill. Did you get them online? Took mine a good drive today and enjoying it also
  16. Cheers. It has its first appointment with BMW on Wednesday for a health check.
  17. Cheers I've seen you comment on them recently as I think there are a few looking at them at the moment. Seems to be a popular choice on the forum. (We should start an owners thread, as this forum prob has better response times than most) It's too early to say wether I'll get it remapped right away- it feels fast enough for a daily and if I want faster that's what I've got the supra for. I'd be more inclined to get it mapped for improved economy with a slight increase in hp. Bet I turn out to do the opposite. How long have you had yours James? Any issues? Think I'll replace the charge air hose on mine as it's pretty dirty and I've read it's a weak point. Just had a look at yours again. Very nice, I think the saloon looks better than the touring but I wanted an estate.
  18. 535d M sport E61 LCI Had it less than a day so still getting to know it. Feels like driving a tank, and it's also plesently quick
  19. That's a beast. Liked the lights out bit
  20. Jamesy, did the service and other work you had done improve your mpg around town?
  21. I'd be more confident of getting a BMW question answered on here, a lot of owners also have one.
  22. I usually just turn the ignition to "on" and keep pressing the arm/disarm button until I get a response. Then take key out and arm it then disarm it and that normally works. Takes a few tries. Also try pressing and holding.
  23. Gutted. Amazing in Aliens and true lies. Rip
