400 miles trip £100 of fuel... good mpg or not?
Marcus GTE replied to Supra N_A's topic in Supra Chat
Yeah, i had it on full blast on a run to loch lomond last week, i did about 50 miles and it used 1/4 of a tank. Pretty expensive to run! I just worked it out that the 1/4 tank of V-Power i replaced cost about £30 @ aprox £1.42ish p/l. A full fill up can cost £115ish (£113.60 @ £1.42 but it can fluctuate) for me depeding on how long the orange light has been on ( i thought the UK spec is 80 litres? you might get 70 in when the light comes on, but i thought the reserve was 10 litres?, dont have my manual handy) I normally get 320 miles to a full tank, so at say £113.60 a tank, £113.60 % 4= £28.40 and 80 miles per 1/4 tank, compared to 50 miles with the A/C on is a diffrence of 30 miles per 1/4 tank or 120 miles to a full tank. So going by that, if i had the A/C on full blast for the full duration of a tank id only get 200miles, so would cost (@35p per mile) £42 more to go the 320 miles id normaly go. dont know how to work out the respective mpg..... my.head.hurts. -
i dont know about all the sympoms your having and im no gearbox expert, but i remember my dads gear stick in his auto GS300 visibly shaking at around 35mph and i think having the wheels balanced solved it. You might have damaged a wheel/ lost a weight? just a suggestion, good luck with it

How much pressure is required to re gas the air con?
Marcus GTE replied to Dim Sum's topic in Supra Chat
Didnt see this thread so posted a solution here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?242433-air-conditioner-ac-system -
Did a search as driving around today in 27oC was pretty uncomfortable, so I went to halfords and got a can of ez chill. It was about £50 with the hose you need to conect the bottle but you get £10 cash back for returning the bottle (with receipt) The instructions are pretty easy, you re-fill the air con while the engine is running with the AC on full blast. Wait 3 min then attach the coupling on the hose to the low pressure coupling at the rear right (near passanger) of the engine bay. Press for 3 secs release, shake and repeat until the gauge is where you want it to be according to the instructions. I don't think it filled it fully, either that or I might have a leak, but it now blows cool air rather than warm air like before. Hope it helps anyone battling this 5 day heat wave!

I'm hoping You don't!, I've no tolerance for anymore heat on my face! Lol Sun wasn't even out that long!
-
My face is burnt! Geo, you must have the same panda eyes as me from wearing sun glasses! Looks like I missed the best part of the day! Some amount of smoke! Good effort Ross, you'll need 1 new wheel after that! Lol. You did well with no LSD

Yeah no problem, ill head over after work tomorrow morning (tiny chance that if we get a job before 10 I could be late but 90% won't happen) Wouldn't want you to feel the club has let you down after your mates bro is relying on you
-
Geo, I'm night shift tonight and tomorrow, it means I Finnish at 10am tomorrow and I'm back in tomorrow night. If you're struggling and it helps I could come down after work tomorrow (looking at 10.30am) and could stay till about 4pm. Also I just got new rear rubber so wouldn't Want to burn them. I know it's not ideal mate but if it helps you out I'll do it. Cheers Marcus

Congrats mate, bet you any money she has a wedding dress magazine by tomorrow!

I'd give him a phone and make an appointment as he is about a week behind the now. Car feels great. It was putting the power down in wet corners where I would have previously been too scared to do so. Not saying it makes you drive like a maniac, but this getting done combined with the new rear rubber makes a really big difference and it gives you more confidence

Ok so that's me home. Got away after 4.30 so after getting there at 9am I was there for 7 1/2 hours. It cost me £196 all in. Not really complaining, he only charged me 4 hours labour and they were on it for at least 5-6 hours. He also said to come back in a week to check everything had settled and was still as it should be (something about the type of suspension I have was the reason)- he isn't intending on charging me for this, so it's cracking service. There were a few issues with the way the car was set up when I brought it in; -seized bolts (took forever to get them off) - negative camber was too aggressive -car was crabbing as the alignment was out -Also the toe was in at the rear and out at the front Pretty shocking to find all this out. As promised, I'll put the figures up later on Car is so quiet now
-
Kenny was saying the camber and tracking were out by miles. He said there were 3 degrees of negative camber on the back, which he said was even more than you would want at knockhill. He assures me that the car will feel a lot better when I get it back so looks like it will have been worth my visit. This from a car that felt great on the rd to be honest, so for anyone reading, it's hard to tell of your wondering about yours. I'll put up before and after numbers if I get them

Haha yeah a ps3 would be great the now as my phone is at 31% I left the caffe after 12 and spent an hour in the garage reception and an hour in burger king for lunch. I don't mind though, cause every stop I make, I make a new friend.... Like this guy lol
-
Still here........ There were some seized bolts that they thankfully got loose without having to cut. Should be finnished within the hour, but expect the delay to push the price up a bit
-
Cool, looking forward to it, cheers for the recommendation. Think Raz was talking about him too at the meet I was at, at the start of the year I was talking to the owner of the caffe I'm in, turns out he had a shop round from me about 5 years ago so we recognised each other. He was saying Kenneth is known round here to be really good and prob gets good trade in his caffe from people waiting on cars!

Thought I'd revive this before the last post on it was over a year ago (just made it) After failing my mot last week on rear tyres, I noticed that they were really worn on the inside. I knew it was running some negative camber when I bought it but I diddnt think anything of it as the car handled really well. So anyway, I saw this thread and after ordering Goodyear eagle f1's off camskill to pas my mot, and them not being cheap rubber, I felt like it was worth going to visit Kenneth brown. So that's where I am now, waiting in a caffe in hulking ton (actually wrote hillington but that's what the iPhone changed it too lol, what a cool place hulking ton would be!) waiting on a phone call. Hopefully all will go well an he won't find any problems. I asked him for a balance of even tyre wear and grip and also for the before and after figures. I'll update later on when I know how it went.
