  1. The non JDM Supras, ie UK/ US/ Euro spec had to pass tougher emission regulations and got round them by fitting these models with an EGR valve. I believe it is maybe number 5 that the exhaust is re-circulated back into. The scoop collects air at speed and directs it to a snorkel that goes to cool the effected cylinder which is running hotter than the others due to hot exhaust gases being put back through it. I remember reading somewhere Toyota saying the cooling effect was worth 1hp. My understanding anyway.
  2. Was going to ask for the same info. So thanks for asking. Going to refurb mine though. Feel like doing it soon due to the info here.
  3. Door card, boot blind, wicker basket, right timberland boot. Wonder what's in that black bag...
  4. Need to do this soon too. Not looking forward to wrestling with it but unbolting the power steering fluid reservoir on the TT is meant to help. Did you do the spark plugs too?, if so what were the coil pack clips like?
  5. I'll settle for a private tour then a day. I'm an 86% purist so the majority of your exotic parts would be safe Applecross should be ok, just doing the first nightshift away from the baby so its still a bit early to tell her I'm going on a jolly with sleep deprivation still in the picture. I'd love to come and stretch the UK's legs. It's been up there before but I don't drive it anywhere near enough. 1 or two jobs need doing first though, but this is all off topic. Can't wait to see the blue beast up close In the sun soon!
  6. A peak into Aladdins cave! You should do a video of it and show off all your secret stuff Giving the SCS a miss this year, hoping to make an appearance at applecross. I'll need to start working on the wife soon
  7. Congratulations mate, she's lovely. Looking forward to seeing the new wheels on it.
  8. Think It's a UK spec, could have been made in 94 and registered later.
  9. Dayshift on the next one.
  10. This will be a cracker inside and out once it's done
  11. You can re gas the system yourself using a bottle of ez chill from halfords. The low pressure connector is a gray cap with L on it at the back of the engine bay. You would be better getting it done at a garage but I've done it a few times and one charge normally lasts the summer. You get £10 back on the bottle so keep the receipt if you go for it.
  12. Sorry won't make this after seeing how far away it is. First searched for crail raceway and said it was 20 min away, 2 hours is too far to be on standby. Have fun! Hope it stays sunny!
  13. looking good mate. Turns out my mot was up last month! So if I make it in the morning I'll be in the estate.
  14. When was your auxiliary belt (fan belt) last changed? If it's worn it could be slack and not spinning the pump pulley enough causing intermittent power loss? Belt is £25 from toyota and you can change it yourself, or have a mechanic do it. It's a 10 min job. I had a few of your symptoms along with a fast squeaking on idle. All of which disappeared after a new belt.
  15. Glad you pulled me up on that one! Loosing the plot already
  16. Put me down as a 50/50 for this if you don't mind. Wife is a week overdue, so not been able to commit to anything for a while. If I see you at 8 at xcape I see you, if not don't wait for me.
  17. I've no idea if it does, but I'd check to see if it contains asbestos first before removing it. Should be a sign if there is but off the top of my head I can't remember.
  18. My experience of the mkiii is mainly from my '92 UK spec NA auto I used to have. I loved it but it was down on power a bit. My uncle had a mkiii uk spec turbo auto when I was younger and there is definitely a difference. Mainly the turbo had a bit more of a slingshot effect out of the corners, which is to be expected. I had the head gasket problem on mine at about 120,000 miles, so be sure the work has been done as they all suffer the same fate. It would be exclusive, you don't see them anymore. Cool looking car too, especially with the jspec tail lights. They tend to go for hundreds though, not thousands. I got less than £500 for mine. Edit: mine was vandalised though and needed a windscreen.
  19. Gordy, the guys above have explained it's function well. It's used like that to clean and inspect it. If you have the auto spoiler button pressed down all the time, ie leave it in that on position, it will be in automatic mode. It is speed sensitive as stated and comes down at 55mph+ and will retract when you slow to below about 35mph (at a guess) the green light will be on when it's down and off when it's up. It's designed for crusing on the motorway, if you were doing those speeds on the twisties where it would activate you can press "auto off" to stop it coming down to protect it from scraping/ tearing. I leave mine on and have no problem.
  20. Welcome, get yourself along to the next meet, a few of the guys are new too and have just got Supras so you can get some first hand advice and a look at some up close. Everyone will be welcoming, just take the first step
