  1. If you're going down the DIY route, buy decent LEDs, not sure on the size but for lamp replacemt applications in the dash some 5mm ones should do it. Osram and Phillips make decent ones that last. You'll likely need some resistors too. 0.5W should be high enough for the current and 850 to 1000 Ohms is usually sufficient. RS components beats Maplins hands down for price and range IMO Looks of the following characteristics: Radial leads (two legs at one end, they only work one way round) Light dispersal- usually in degrees, bigger is better for this Clear or frosted lens - clear gives a "bright spot" in the LED frosted disperses the light more but is often dimmer. Light output - Lumens or candella, depends how bright you want it, 120 is pretty dim - mobile key backlight sort of stuff.
  2. I've just fixed a mate's one, Glass, digitizer and LCD, as said about £50 parts. It's a pain the LCD is now bonded to the glass at least with the 3 it was just a £13 glass and digitizer replacement. I know its to stop dust getting in it, but surely a half decent gasket would have been better. Sorry back on topic, it's likely they'll want to charge for fixing it, but it's definately worth a shot.
  3. I've still got some 3M DI-Noc Cf in black not much mind, and if used witht he adhesive accellerator it can (by all accounts) be sprayed with clear laquer (rattle can stuff) so you do get a "clearcoat" on it.
  4. If you're really worried, resin fixings and stud bar into solid materials will take several hundred Kg's! Plasterboard is a nightmare to "hang" stuff on. If there's a gap between wall and board, its not a straightforward job, had this issue when mounting 25Kg active speakers in a club years ago, had to knock a hole in the board and go straigth onto the brick with a longer arm support.
  5. Was that aimed at me? If so; done with a pinstriping brush.
  6. Funny! The same weeki did thosei had a concerned old bloke run up to me in the carpark at ASDA to tell me i had a carrier bag wrapped around my brakes!
  7. I love the look of neatly painted calipers, not just the usual boring red "looks like brembro" on ma corsa laaaa. Those look really nice with the contrasting vinyl against the black. These were the ones i did on my Celica, Foliatec White and Halfords red, lasted well, but the Foliatect does take a while to harden, but is a really strong colour and finish:
  8. Welcome, good to see a few NW folks popping up
  9. Clearly wants: 1:Revenge on the wife for spending too much on Burberry 2: To scare the Sh*t out of the kids; Brintney Shakira and Ronaldo Wayne
  10. That is one quality thread. The guy has beed watching Fast & Furious as if it was a documentary. Plus some awesome quotes P3 #29 so far my favorite!
  11. Ooooooh! handbags at 20 paces
  12. buy a flashing resistor from maplins/RS some 1000 Ohm resistors. solder a resistor to one leg of the LED (doesn't mater which) then connect the LED into a 12v feed (will only work one way round) Kill switch, depends how adept at auto electronics you are, and quite how dead you want the car. The norm is a big hefty relay controlled via a switch disconnecting the coil. Other methods include isolating the battery feed to the keylock, fuel pump, and a few others
  13. Fair enough, might be a possibility, CPC do a range of "install cables" and associated kits/blanking plates. Mainly aimed at the school/unit lecture theatre application but it would allow you to discreetly run a good quality long cable and have a firm plate to attach the origianl one to. Just a thought.
  14. La Haine Awesome gritty and quite amusing black and white film of inner city French ghettos, actually very good. New Jersey Drive As above, in colour and in New Jersey, really good Ghetto film. Death Machine The tagline got me "Shark attack in a skyscraper" Stupid, funny B-Movie.
