  1. The one reason I can stand the heat at the moment Oh, and the only joy of public transport, far more lovely ladies about than you see crusing the motorway, or even around town
  2. I like so many different styles on Supras, as long as they are done with some form of class, so I can never decide for definite if I would go for a matte/satin finish or a gloss finish (if I was to buy a black one). So many options...

    hey guys

Thanks again Abz. And that is a very nice car hadyn, but I would not have the money until around September/ October, and even then, I will be lucky to have £3k to spend and an old Vectra isn't worth much in p/x is it haha. I think this would be the reason to get an NA but I won't rule out a TT if I end up in the situation to get one.

    hey guys

Thanks for the tips mate, hehe, no stranger to old cars here, late 80's to late 90's cars are the only way for me I think NA it is then, it' still a damn sight faster than my Vectra, and can spend money on getting it looking great and then NA-TT it in the future
  5. Nothing wrong with leathering the living daylights out of an old disc As for why the clips hitting the stud I can't help you but for taking rear discs off, as far as I can tell, they are a similar design to my Vectra's rear discs in that the handbrake is inside the rear disc? If so, then usually you have to turn a cog or similar through one of the excess holes in the disc which slackens the shoes off inside so they stop gripping the disc (and of course, handbrake needs to be off). However, as I have never worked on a Supra before, I can't be dead sure but that is the usual way. (Oh, and whacking it one with as heavy a hammer as you can find )
  6. Okay mate, I will give it a try tomorrow, will look good if photoshop does what I ask it too this time... hehe
  7. Good point Amar, but you can get matte clear coat can't you. My Vectra is silver, and for repairing some surface rust, I had to buy the clear coat, which is gloss clearcoat, so I would guess it comes as matte too? If it did then wouldn't it have the same smooth feeling of gloss clearcoat so wouldn't streak as you might expect? Just a thought...
  8. Hey barneybrendan, I could have a go at photoshopping your car tomorrow mate, but I couldn't promise anything good haha, photoshop and me have a bit of a love-hate relationship... hehe
  9. I think it would look fine with stock lights, but I think dark rear lights would look awesome on the Supra's rear end I saw a picture today of a Ferrari 599 sprayed matte black stealth style and it looked amazing, the rear lights were shaded too so finished the look well.
  10. I agree, the wheels let it down, should be black or dark grey. Amar, you should definitely not slap yourself for loving that rx7, great cars, just have a built in expiry date of 100k miles... A stealth purple Supra? hmm..... maybe something for photoshopping tomorrow to have a quick look, you never know, might actually look fantastic and begin it's own craze

    hey guys

Thanks Abz, the main use would be literally a run of about 10 miles per day to uni and back (as I would be staying not far from the uni) if not less. Then, maybe the odd night-time cruise (who could resist?) and then every few months (mainly around Christmas, Summer, etc.) the 40 odd mile trip back to Liverpool, then back a few days/weeks later. It wouldn't get anywhere near the use my Vectra does. That car does over 2000 miles per month and uses around £320 of fuel in that month, maybe more. I would actually be sad to sell it, I would get pennies for it, but I am proud of the work it does and the fact it is on 170k miles and still running perfect. If I could, I would keep it as well as the Supra as the main commuter but it won't happen. For the Supra however, it would probably do less than 5000 miles per year, but yes, it would get used every day.
  12. I think matte black cars look great, but at the same time, I wouldn't do such a thing to a black car that's in great condition as it is. I cannot bear to change a car that is in great condition already by such a large amount, I have to respect what others have done with it in the past and if after so many years of use, it is in great condition, you know alot of pride has gone into their ownership.
  13. I guess I have been out-voted ont he stealth look then?
  14. Not favourable then? It is one of those marmite looks I think. Oh and please don't think I am into chavvy kits etc because I mentioned wide arch kits, I just think a car in matte black needs something to highlight it's lines. Oh, and fashions come around! The 80's are back people
  15. Hey guys, just wondering what your opinions of matte black Supras are? I know it isn't a guarantee I will be able to get a Supra this year but never too early to start thinking of where it could end up As I will probably end up going down the NA route, I might as well make it look as good as possible and there are a few different styles I like. However, I was talking with a friend from uni yesterday (another fellow Supra fan ) and we started talking about black Supras. Now, I love gloss black Supras, but if I buy an NA, then I would like something a little different and I have always loved matte black anything hehe, and we started talking about a matte black Supra done in a 'stealth' style. I did a quick search before and found this picture of, what I think, is a very nice car: http://img228.imageshack.us/i/p1115766tn7.jpg/ Some things I would change on it however are; -change those chrome alloys for some matte black alloys, possibly with some red trim/writing, something to accent the matte black -the 'gloss black' headlights don't match the matte black bodywork, they look good, but I would try for matte black headlights, but maybe a little less opaque -I think some form of sideskirt or wide arch body kit could give it a few more 'eccentric' lines that would stand out a little more (to make up for the fact the matte black doesn't catch the light) -and I think the window tinting could be a little less opaque too, however, with the rules on window tinting, it may be better to just leave the windows untinted So, opinions? Anyone have any great exceptions to the whole matte black look? I would only eventually go down this road if I get a black Supra and the bodywork isn't fantastic. If it needs bodywork doing and I have the money at any point, I would go down this route, but any other colour, I would have other plans for it. Oh, and I think that front bumper is amazing

    hey guys

Hi guys, again, thanks for all the welcomes . First, TonytotheB, I'm actually from Liverpool, and more specifically, born in Tuebrook, live in Stoneycroft (don't know how much you know of this area though haha), not far from Huyton though, when I can drive, I can get to Huyton in say 10/15 minutes. Are you still in Huyton? That would explain the fact your insurance is as high as mine would be if I was in Wrexham. If I change the Wrexham address to my current one, well, an NA auto is closer to the £3k mark than the £2k one haha. Thanks pistonbroke, I try my hardest not to talk in text (it is hard being surrounded by the typical '20 year old' though), although I often fall into the trap of forgetting grammar on forums, but then, after a long trip to uni and back and a hard day in uni, I kinda just rush my typing haha. I have read that the NA's are more reliable than the TT engines? I am guessing this could be true as a TT will often get more of a pounding and with more heat and pressure going through the systems, not surprising really. I think I could well go down the NA route, not because of insurance costs and running costs but because, as you have said, I could get a cleaner example. Afterall, I could probably get a manual NA for less insurance than an auto TT and I've heard a stripped manual NA can give an auto stock TT a run for it's money (in my opinion, the rear seats are pointless for someone over 6 foot, no rear leg room at all behind me I reckon so might as well come out as it would only ever be me in the car, maybe one passenger). That doesn't seem too bad for the suspension hoff, lowering springs for my Vectra are around that price, and there is sports/racing coilovers (as hard as it is to believe they are out there for the Vectra B ) for even more than that, although I am guessing there are top end coilovers that run well into the thousands out there for the Supras.

    hey guys

Hey hoff, yeh, ive driven through there a few times over the last yr. Don't suppose there's a member on here from Wrexham with a white/silver Supra is there? I'm sure it's white but cant quite remember and it's always parked outside pc world in Wrexham lol. Just thought you might 'recognise' it? That is along the lines I was thinking should I get an NA. Exhaust is a definite with Supras I've heard as the stock one is just too restrictive and with the budget I would have, performance mods would be out of the question and the stock air box is capable of 500bhp anyway isn't it? Any ideas the cost at upgrading brakes and suspension (things I would improve first anyway, I prefer handling to outright power)? I think stock brakes and suspension will blow my mind away compared to a Vectra anyway but I would never think of leaving a Supra stock .

    hey guys

My dream would be a Supra rated at over 1000bhp...... but of course, thats ALOT of money a LONG way down the line haha. I guess an NA wouldn't be too bad, afterall, I love the look of a Supe more than almost an car out there (way better than the boring saloon Skylines... ) but because its not actually that quick it sorta puts me off; I prefer a car to go quicker than it looks, not the other way around. It's just that tiny difference in insurance between the NA and TT that is just so persuasive haha. (Oh, and by the way, that 3 to 3.5 seconds 0-60 statement was about the difference in 0-60 lol, not the actual speed lol)
  19. ritter1

    hey guys

Tbh, the main reason behind staying nearer the uni next yr is to save money anyway and as it will save 80 quids worth of petrol per week etc and insurance is far cheaper, the excess money just seems like it could be used to get myself a supra although I know they are expensive cars to own. Dont forget, the money being spent on the vectra atm would then go to running the supra so not as much an overspend as you may be thinking. Im guessing it would be easier and overall cheaper to go NA though? Even though they arent as quick as I thought they are still quicker than my vectra (although 3 to 3.5 secs 0-60 doesnt seems too good considering the gap in 'status').

    hey guys

Well guys, did my final exam of the year yesterday and so the hunt for a job is on. Now, just incase (hopefully) I can get a job and save some decnet money, ive worked out I could probably save upto around £3k by the time I go back to uni and if my mum can pay me back the £500 she borrowed from my last loan and I can keep the £100 I have left of it I could have around £3.6k. So I was wondering, if all this comes together as I hope, is it even possible to buy a TT auto for less than £3k? I wouldnt want to spend the whole amount on the car and im not too fussed about having a show car yet, as long as the mechanicals are fine and the bodywork not too bad, its fine with me as long as its got that supra badge on the back lol. Ive seen a number of NA autos for around that price but TTs are obviously far more expensive (as are the UK cars.... hopefully an import wouldnt cost too much to insure).
  21. tbh, its very similar to the classic 'supra vs skyline' drag isnt it? skyline with 4wd will win a shorter drag, but a supra will always win a longer drag
  22. did you click ont he youtube video down the page or the pic at the top? I clicked ont he pic cos its got the play button on it but the actual vids further down mate
  23. LFA can be thought of as the new supra when you think about it. Also, bit of a coincidence its been in the making for 10 years and the supra went out of production what? 8 years ago? Toyota always start developing their new car a few years before ending production of their current car. And as for what one I would want, I find it difficult to choose. As an everyday car or just to be used around a track or something, probs the GTR just wins for me, but as an engineering student, the LFA is simply amazing and therefore makes the overall decision difficult for me lol

    hey guys

just done a quote using this UK auto TT's reg just to check and it came out as auto Turbo 3 door in the decription again: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-Supra-3-0-Litre-Twin-Turbo-Auto-UK-car-new-/380225973642?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item58873bed8a little outa the price range I will be able to afford lol but just to check the insurance out. Putting down a Wrexham address, putting down the car has a Cat 1 Thatcham alarm and as though I was 21 with 2 years clean driving, the quote was £1563.65 will still phone the insurance companies up when I get round to actually buying one but seems good dont you think? That quote was off elephant.co.uk by the way, the second cheapest was admiral with a quote of £1572.05. These quotes are for TPFT by the way, FC goes upto £1828.25. Just crazy how cheap it would be.
