  1. Wow! Sounds awesome! Be sure to post the before and after photos won't you? The world needs more people like you who really know how to push the envelope!
  2. Has anyone ever told you that you have major self-esteem issues? I can recommend some good books for that, (apparently...).
  3. Christmas isn't fictitious, it really happened 2013 years ago. It's a hysterical fact. Jesus H. Christ. You'll be telling me that Santa isn't an anagram of Satan next!
  4. There will definitely be a cut off as that's what the blow off valve is for. It's just a matter of finding out it's designed limit. The TT's boost to about 14psi iirc but that's probably way more than the NA lump was designed for. We all know that you can get away with more than 9psi but for how long? Inferior engines would have blown up at 20psi so you're lucky you got away with it.
  5. Wouldn't the charger encounter less air resistance if boost pressure was 4psi lower and therefore be doing less work with a pressure leak? Boost pressure only increases as a result of resistance to airflow and a bleeding valve (ooer!) would only mean you need higher rev's to reach a given pressure. You're right to expect more power overall though. Just don't expect 4psi 'for free'.
  6. Spoilsport. Think of the opportunity to contribute to our collective understanding of connecting rod ballistics. You have a moral obligation to test your engine to destruction for the sake of our safety! (and viewing entertainment )
  7. Quick, wack it on a dyno whilst the spark plugs are still underneath the bonnet and not in a farmer's field on the M6!
  8. Le Singe! Vilkommen dans la cloob! Je suis un rockstar. J'ai ave une residence, dans la south of France. Je ne comprend pas!
  9. Dark Sky is excellent for highly accurate short-term radar weather forecasting. It gives you a one hour localised forecast based on actual cloud imagery and will be very useful tonight and tomorrow, particularly for those in the southwest and southern England. Also here's the banner ad for The Met Office iPhone and Android apps, though I haven't tried them myself; http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/services/weather

  11. Check this out too if you haven't seen it yet. You might discover a particular exercise that your son is really good at and build on it, increasing his confidence in other areas. http://www.lumosity.com/ There's bound to be something he'll enjoy. Btw, it's free to sign up and use but you will get emails encouraging you to use it more than you'll have time for but it's all very well presented and good fun.
  12. Russ, I couldn't get your video link to work. Could you give the title? (Update, says only works on a p.c. so will watch tomorrow). Here's one that you should find interesting....
  13. I remember being too scared to ask the nursery school teacher to tie up my rubber apron so I could play in the water trough first thing every morning. I just followed her round the room until she got fed up and did it for me when I held up the strings! That's what happens when you tell your children to be seen and not heard and to only speak when they're spoken to.......
  14. I've had a good listen through the trusty AKG K550's and it sounds very familiar. My original silicone filled mounts are shot and the engine shudders badly when garaging but not whilst driving or first thing in the morning. The mounts must soften as they heat up and allow freer movement which then amplifies any existing noises as they are too solid to absorb vibration effectively...... Which leads me on to the possible cause; If it's anything like mine, you may have a slight turbo heat shield vibration. My car makes this noise and the shield rattles at idle because of the bad mounts. It also sounds like a bearing howl but not in a rough, scratchy way though. The timing belt idler pulley bearing is a good suspect as you say, as could be the timing belt covers. I really think it's a turbo shield or other cover or thin metal part, maybe even an induction howl. Try squeezing the various induction hoses and also operating the throttle from under the bonnet to find the harmonic sweet spot, (if there is one), further up the rev' range. Can you do a video with the camera right in close to the various nooks and crannies with a tiny wee bit of throttle? A mechanic's stethoscope might also pinpoint it. After another listen and realising, (I think?), that it wasn't your video, it does get much louder when you/he/they lean/s toward the turbos and iirc mine sounds like an airflow related issue through that area that I think peaks and dies off as I increase throttle too. I think!
  15. Cockadoodledoo! (It was the closest one I could find!)
  16. Yeah, I see what you mean but it's very waspy, like they are antennae. I wonder what engine it hasn't got?
  17. I know I want one. I also know that I couldn't afford it without a re-mortgage or a pair of tights over my head.
