  1. Hi and welcome! I guess I'm the only one sad enough to be up this late again on a Saturday night huh, present company excepted, of course! I just had a quick look here http://www.dc2.org.uk/ and I think you'll find an NA Supra MKIV uses quite a bit more fuel than your 1.8, being 3 litres but I have one and can tell you that it's a big car in comparison, I mean, visibility wise, you'll need to be very careful of kerbing. Acceleration in 'Driive' may seem slower with an auto but mine bites from the get go with no slipping in first and if you keep it in first or second, it absolutely rockets along. There's a manual mode button but it's not a good idea to knock an auto box down at high rpm, though it is enormous fun every once in a while! My hair touches the headliner and I'm still uncomfortable with the allround visibility, though I've not kerbed it in 2 months as I owned two MKIII's for years so I'm used to it. Just be aware of the order of magnitude you're stepping up. There's bound to be someone who'll show you their car near you. A couple of regulars live that way. Power sounds top notch for the DC2; 187hp, 178Nm from a naturally aspirated 1.8! Honestly, wait for a TT guy to come on and put you right, as I can only say that for sheer thrills, you may have already found a car that's hard to beat unless you go turbo Supra. Don't get me wrong, the NA is good for 7k rpm and smooth as silk but it's a heavy car. These things are built for high speed cruising and rapid acceleration shows up on the fuel gauge quickly too. Given what you're used to, go for a manual TT and I'm sure someone on here can sell you one. Most common car on here I think! I've had a couple of guys say that I should have bought theirs instead of mine, for less! Might be worth reading a thread called 'Have a Word' which was my first one where the TT guys with ones for sale are. Any NA specifics, just ask
  2. Yeah, bit like poor L33 by the sound of it! Maybe it was that piston coming through the firewall?
  3. Yeah, "You could go twice as fast!" Errrrrm, maybe not!
  4. Hi and welcome! Great cars! They look like S15 Silvias, only nicer, obviously! Sorry folks but this one's another epic post so please bear with me here. It's a subject that's quite close to my heart, literally! As a fellow long-term back pain sufferer (hence my ratty mood half- ok most of the time ;-) you also have my deepest sympathy but that won't get you 'back' behind the wheel so depending on the severity of the injury I may be able to help so what was the actual diagnosis? I ain't Jesus but I ain't stupid either and I've had chronic/ acute back pain for 23 years and it's no laughing matter, I can tell you! From my experience, the NHS are pretty useless (bless them) and don't even believe in chiropractic. Maybe things have moved on in recent years? I can't even get an MRI and a workmate says they won't operate on him until he's crawling on all fours, speaking of which, he's just had a baby too! A slipped disc is kind of vague and usually refers to a bulge in the annulus (steady!) from disc material or fragments pressing on the nerve root (very sore and raw, tooth drilling kind of pain in one local area) and unless you've been told not to do it, traction or inversion should and almost certainly will help A LOT but whilst relief can be immediate it takes time to regain the proper gap between the vertebrae. The discs are apparently like sponges and absorb water when stretched and deflate when compressed. I bought an inversion table years ago and it's the only thing keeping me out of hospital, so trust me, if it's not badly torn tissue we're talking about that needs complete rest for a while, try that maybe? It's quite amazing how effective it is, since the cause of the pain is usually compression from gravity and lifting. Inversion is supposed to be good for the brain too, though it does make you nauseous until you get used to it. I popped mine on a calf raise machine with the full stack of 391 pounds (178 kilos) and have never been the same since, even after years of chiro. Some people can lift heavy weight without injury, others can't! I also found a chinning bar mounted halfway up the stairs is good for regular stretching (easy access and no excuses!) but inversion is much more effective because your upper body typically weighs much more than your legs and you can hang for much longer too. You'll gain or restore height but that's a good thing unless you're as tall as me and can only just fit in the car already! I'm gagging to give links here and there but I don't want to get banned again for 'spamming' so if you're interested, I can PM them to you or even start a back pain thread, since we all get it sometimes. Let me know how you get on and please, no comments from naysayers telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about?!! I've also found spiritual healing highly effective in the past for muscular tension (another major cause of back pain) but gave up on it as a long-term cure for purely logistical reasons. You might be surprised about the more 'creative' benefits of healing though if you open your third eye but for another time perhaps.........you aren't doing too badly as you are from the look of the Soarers!

    Hello!

Well don't read any of my posts then! Can a Newbie welcome someone yet?
  6. Well said that man! Thanks for that link and I agree with one of the posters that it's inevitable that as the values of the cars depreciate ever more rapidly, the owners will become well, frightfully common! Whilst I am not in the habit (yet) of using bad language in my posts, many of which I will admit are not always appreciated, I will also refrain from 'implying with extreme prejudice' that someone might be an @R$£H@7£ when they correct me without bothering to read what I've said, not all of which is accepted wisdom or factually correct unfortunately, though most is. I think that a solution might be to all use disclaimers in our signatures. E&OE
  7. INTERMISSION Please be watching this short moviefilm for your enjoyment, thank you.....it are very funny!
  8. No, I stole it so that I could spend a week (and probably not much longer at this rate) being told how gullible and stupid I am by ignorant people who can't spell, read or type, let alone appreciate diversity. I think it's fantastic but I'm not slagging off anyone else's car. Try to find one single solitary post where I have. ........and breathe!
  9. I don't care if he's a bloody God, he should set an example. We can all get angry and swear at people. So ban me!
  10. Who do you think you are, a cop at an armed robbery? Page two = Second Page does it not? I titled them. Unfortunately it caused confusion in this case because your obvious malice and prejudice prevented your brain from processing correctly. Happens to be the last image right in the middle of the page where they say that NA's had variable valve timing but not turbos but like I said, it's a JDM translated manual. Thought it might be interesting reading fwiw.
  11. What's the disc diameter please?
  12. You drive a hard bargain Can I owe you it, I'm a bit short of change!?
  13. Ok, how much is it worth for you to delete that post?
  14. Damnit! You were too fast for me, just edited it! Owned! How's that for a Freudian slip!? Not gay in any way though, just to be clear about that!
  15. Read 'Have a Word'. Has a link to Cardomain writeup. It's all there. Best have a couple of hours though........
  16. Anyway, as I've said, just be careful of the fluid temperature in the auto box. Of course it's common knowledge but not everyone knows these things. To repeat myself, it's the number one cause of auto box failure, besides clutches and sprags but that's another thread.
  17. Oh, ermmm, as I've said a couple of times here and there, the engine build won't be for another couple of years, as I still have a GMC Typhoon 4.3V6 bare block on my kitchen worktop! I'm supposed to be working in the garden building my workshop but..........
  18. Some pics in garage now from this afternoon but slow going as size limit forces cropping.....
  19. Oh, sorry to have hijacked the original thread but you wouldn't let it lie!
  20. ;)Updating the garage with decentish pics now........ Should give someone a laugh!
  21. As for 300hp NA's, I wouldn't spend the money these guys did but to 'prove' the point that it can be done, nonetheless, here we go.... http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=29220
