  1. This is what I'm thinking ronttuk & Scott M. If it has adjustable pulleys, one might have slipped just enough to upset things. Backfiring is most easily caused by poor ignition timing and has only got to be a tiny bit out to really cause havoc. The hose blow off scenario is just as likely though, if not more so. I think he's done a runner so we may never find out.

  3. Whatever you do, don't get run-flat tyres on the back. My car came with them fitted and they spin in the dry; well, the left one does anyway.
  4. I Agreed. I have an OCZ Vertex 2 (150GB) in one of my pooters and it loads Win 7 in a few seconds, once the BIOS has finished doing it's thing. They're expensive but if you're after loading speed, they're amazing. Shut down time is also a few seconds and sleep mode is straight off.

  6. To get a significant boost in performance from the CPU, the extra heat generated would require an exponentially higher cooling rate, which would become the primary limiting factor. Put simply, uprating the fan sufficiently would make the machine bloody loud!
  7. Quite possibly, yes. Just check it. Steering pumps make an awful metallic whine when they wear out or run low on fluid. If it's a squeal or chirp, then your accessory drive belt is worn or loose.
  8. That's quite a stammer you have there. Did you get them for Christmas? Seriously though, this time of year, hibernate your right foot. One slip and you're facing the wrong way.
  9. I'd just use normal Nitromoors type Methylene Chloride based paint stripper. It didn't do me any harm. This is not a recommendation or guarantee. This advice does not constitute advice of any kind. Strippers do so at their own risk. 10. You obviously have a loose connection somewhere or a bad earth from the battery. Check your battery terminals and clean them before re-connecting. Naturally, the battery might need a top up and it's quite possible that the alternator is faulty or worn out and the battery can't cope on it's own at low speed. You can run one of these engines on a dead alternator for over an hour with headlamps on so switch off the engine, switch on the headlights and then switch on the engine again, watching for the headlights to brighten a little once the engine is running, indicating a working alternator, as it puts out a slightly higher voltage than the battery, so it can charge it, of course. Failing the obvious connection checks, particularly for a bad ground to the chassis, without which the ECU can't work properly and if you think the battery and alternator are ok, you might want to check the diagnostic fault codes. It's a bit fiddly but might be worthwhile if you can't find anything obvious. Here's a link that explains this procedure... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35920-How-To-Check-the-diagnostics-codes&highlight=Fault+code You might 'simply' have a BHG, (blown head gasket), as the symptoms are classic but it's not the most likely cause at this stage, given the intermittent nature of the fault. If you had a MkIII then it would be highly likely, as they were never factory torqued optimally. However, if you have a badly sealing piston ring or valve, it can cause an intermittent loss of compression, so best get that checked. You can buy a cheap compression testing kit if you're a DIYer. The scratching will be your power steering pump, (depending on the actual noise, which isn't clear), so you just need to check the fluid level, as a low level lets air into the system. If it's the accessory belt screeching, you just need to re-tension it. If the last change date isn't known and it looks fairly old, you're best replacing it. Same goes for the timing belt but they only break when they're not tensioned correctly and jump teeth or are so badly worn that they fray and snap. If there are no signs of wear, you're probably ok until the next major service. Really dirty engine oil can also contribute to a poor idle, of course. As always, it helps if you can make a video. Saves all the guesswork and confusion.
  11. What's all that jive talkin'? Yall know who Huggy Bear is don'tcha? This cat, man. This is so bad, it's good! 7s5utMpi7Go Damn, those crazy cats at Youtube done gone and disabled it. Just click Watch on Youtube I guess!
  12. That was the word on the street. Go see Huggy Bear on 5th and Main. This episode, he's a model shop owner. Doesn't like to stick around too long, know what I'm sayin'?
  13. Nah mate, they're as thick as Sh!t!! Wouldn't have got five yards and probably would have eaten half the interior instead!
  14. Cool! I've heard about that special weight reducing paint.
  15. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, we in 'The West' have been encouraged to believe that it's an either/or question; one or the other, Religion or Science, when there are plenty of scientists who feel that they have proven God's existence, albeit through mathematics, which is simply a symbolic representation of ones thoughts, being as it is, just a language like any other. To even suggest that the two are mutually exclusive would be to suggest that all religious people still think that the Sun revolves around the Earth and that, as you say, a Scientist by definition cannot believe in God, not a real Scientist, anyway. Like any subject, if the right teacher explains something to you in terms you can understand or accept, you learn faster or better. I'm not saying that I am that teacher by any means, but I do have a good handle on the concepts involved in explaining how God can co-exist with Science. To be honest it's quite absurd to me now, that there's any confusion atall. You just need the right keys to unlock your mind. There is old Chinese Martial Arts proverb which say, "It is better to wait seven years for the right teacher, than to train seven years under the wrong one." There is also a very profound saying by the great man himself and it is worthy of much contemplation; Confucius say, "If chain still swing, seat still warm!"
  16. Now come on, you can't tell me that those are scale models? Who's driving them, Hamsters?
  17. Well, it certainly had me fooled! Who did it, Stanley Kubrick or James Cameron?
  18. Are igniters and plugs in the habit of failing simply from being unused for a month? Seems a bit unlikely. Maybe the battery has lost it's peak amps from being on charge constantly? I'd try another one. Be careful jumping it unless the existing battery is very low, as I was told that it can fry the igniter and ECU if amps are too high. Only what I was told by a garage owner who had a GZ I was interested in with the same stuttering problem. His mechanic said it was the igniter not firing all cylinders because it had stood until flat so they jumped it. I've had no such problem from jumping but the fitted battery is always dead when I do. It's only a slim one and doesn't last long without use. I'd blame the damp weather causing a short or poor connection somewhere. You'll need to reset and then check the fault codes after a fresh starting attempt, as the existing codes could be from a resolved issue. Someone will know what they mean, if not, I'll look them up. Jesus, ermmmm, good luck! http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35920-How-To-Check-the-diagnostics-codes&highlight=Fault+code
  19. Ah, I think I know where you went wrong. You should have added, 'against the wall.'
  20. If there's a game or something that needs every last drop of power then you can always overclock the processor but it will probably overheat in a laptop. I thought the i7 was the fastest? Your 720 should overclock to well over 4GHz but again, very risky in a laptop, if it will even let you do it. Processors are always upgradable, as is memory. You won't need to.
  21. I was only pulling your leg. Tbh, you're considered a nutjob these days if you can spell. I'm obviously an exception though, I think you'll agree?
  22. Good idea! It will match English as your second language!
