  1. Ok, got the spare shaft. The end was secured by a circlip but theres no way of getting this off without belting it. How are the internal ball bearings supposed to come out? The gold coloured bit at the back has a smaller diameter. Does this need to be taken off?
  2. Sound advice. I've actually had a VAG one apart a long time ago. So hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult.
  3. Cheers Chris. I will report back with my findings.
  4. Cheers, didn't think to check the EPC. Anyway I'm awaiting delivery of one from ebay and will have a mess about with it.
  5. Anybody ever taken one apart? or have knackered one they care to donate?
  6. As the title, There are gs300 outer cv joints for sale. I know the hubs fit on supras. So would it be safe to say the outer cv joint will also? Regarding the shaft end. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-GS300-3-0-OUTER-ABS-CV-JOINT-AND-CV-BOOT-GAITER-KIT-1993-ONWARDS-BRAND-NEW-/150673479963?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2314d6d91b I was planning in using this on my TT.
  7. Looks great. Amazing workmanship!
  8. I think the oem stuff is similar to Butyl tape. Thick goey stuff that never sets fully and softenes with heat. I used some to stick on the door moisture barrier.
  9. After an extensive google sesson I'm pretty sure the problem is down to the lower wattage bulbs. I wouldn't bother with resistors matey, a lot of them get too hot so you have to be carful where you put them. I would try to find some indicators and ft the correct 21W bulbs.
  10. Iky

    Timing belt

Yes belt is same. Tensioner should be changed with the belt, every 60k miles/100k meters Water pump as well. But im not 100% certain if they are the same.
  11. The manual states Lithium soap based glycol grease on the sliders & also the pistons.
  12. I would have thought the pistons get hotter as they have direct contact with the pads. Red rubber grease is the one to use with piston seals when rebuilding calipers. Toyota themselves supply a pinkish grease with caliper rebuild kits. I'm sure Chris himself mentioned that Red rubber grease should be used. Made by a company called 'Girling' Edit - http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?118243-Grease&highlight=girling
  13. S14 disc size is 280mm So not sure if it's much of an upgrade or not. edit- "J-spec" are 296mm front, 307mm rear. So as far as disc size is concerned, not an upgrade.
  14. All sorted now, thanks to Keron. Top bloke got the parts ordered and sent out asap. The Toyota dust seals are different to the Bigg Red ones, these have a definite groove in them to keep the wire retaining clip in place to prevent it slipping off. Also would like to mention that Bigg Red sorted a refund out asap. The chap on the phone was straight forward and sorted the refund out quickly. They are not bad products, but if anyone does buy one of their kits, just mention that you want the wire type retaining clips and NOT the band type.
  15. This, but remember to buy a full handbrake fitting kit because chances are that by the time you've finished smacking it off, the internals will be mashed.
  16. What do you reccomend for the Differential Tim?
  17. Would have been fine I'm sure, but I think the bands have pierced the dust boot, I took one off to inspect and I could see a speck of light shining through. So I'm just gonna replace the whole lot. I am a bit anal when it comes to brakes. Especially on a car like the Supra. Woudn't matter if it was an N/A i could stop one of those flintstone style!
  18. I've just pm'd Keron to order a full kit. - - - Updated - - - They were a bit cruddy, with a bit of rust.
  19. Just been on the phone to Bigg Red, He said there shouldn't be an issue but I don't want to risk them seizing up a few k miles down the line and warping the discs. He also mentioned that they use the other wire type as well. He said If I wasn't happy, I could send them back for a full refund which I will do. I'm going to order some oem ones. Ah well, time wasted and lesson learned. STICK WITH OEM!
  20. Thankyou for the offers chaps but I do still have the original ones but the seem a slightly slack fit on the new dust boots compared to the old ones so I'm worried they will slip off. The Bigg Red rings are really tight, (I broke my thumb nails trying to get them on) also as you can see the ends are not shaped 100% so are actually 'digging in' into the boot. I bet they have pierced it. If B.R don't do anything about it, I'm just going to get a new Toyota kit.
  21. Yes, usually costs around £150-200 I think Chris Wilson can refurb them.
  22. I have just finished fitting the kit but it doesn't seem right. The ring used to secure the dust boot looks too small. It's causing the dust boot to slightly raise on the unsecured bit. I'm worried it might let crap in. I havn't contacted Bigg Red yet bvut will do tomorrow. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm now thinking I should have just forked out a bit extra for Toyota ones. OEM is always best! OEM ones.
