  1. I've just done mine in red mate, with white logo's.
  2. Yeah I checked on there mate, there is only reference to the JDM imports, I suspect the RHD Supra's have slipped through the net over there. I was going to mention it over there, but people ask about it so much, everyone gets the arse when a post about importing appears because its usually the same questions
  3. Tell me about it, its why I thought I'd look at it this way. My head tells me that this has probably been done before though, I mean these things are 20 years old now and the fact that the prices are so high suggests that its extremely hard to do. I have a small glimmer of hope though, that the focus may have been on importing the JDM supra, which definitely doesn't comply. Perhaps the EGR valve would actually come in handy for once.........it seems to be the main focus for the EPA
  4. Hi all, I know this can be a bit of a touchy subject as the legislation regarding imports to the USA are complex and ancient at best. I may be moving to the USA at the beginning of next year. I was looking at the spec of the UK Supra that I have against the USDM Spec Supra and thought they were very similar, apart for the obvious LHD/RHD changes. My better half currently lives in New York and it turns out that her mother is extremely close friends to one of the top executives at Toyota USA. He said that Toyota's official stance is that they do not recommend importing vehicles to the US for obvious specification reasons. He did, however, offer to carry out a thorough check to see if a UK Supra met the same specification as USDM Supras and if they didn't meet the specification, he would try and find out in what way. He was honest enough to say personally he didn't have a clue what the difference would be, but would certainly have a good go as a favour (my mother in law apparently wrote his daughter a reference to help her get into a university there, so he owes her a favour). I've provided him with a copy of my V5 so he can get whoever he does to carry out the checks. If it meets the standards, he has no problem issuing a certificate of conformity, which would make it a lot easier to import the car. To be honest, it is likely to amount to nothing and I'm sure you know, importing a non conforming car isn't worth it. I'm certainly not expecting it to conform, but I'm more curious now as he was showing interest in this. I thought its worth a try if someone is willing to give it the time of day.
  5. Well I've just got back from having the wheels off, I checked everything at it all seemed fine. Checked brake lines too, all ok. I put the wheels back on and the noise has vanished? so not really sure what the cause was. I took it for a test run and everything seems to be ok. It might just be because it has been sat. The disks and pads do need changing on the front though. And thanks for the heads up, much appreciated.
  6. I could do the valve stem seals myself using the guide on here, although there doesn't seem to be any sign that they need replacing. Fefurbing the turbo's seems plausible given the mileage. There are a load of receipts from the Toyota garage in Bracknell, this includes both rear shocks replaced, all brake hoses, turbo coolant pipes and gaskets etc. I think its been well looked after, its had 28 dealer services. To be honest, I expect it to be a bit of a money pit. I put 12k into the engine alone on my Subaru and only ended up getting 10k for the whole car. I don't want to go that crazy mind.
  7. Sorry Dnk, I didn't see this. The noise sounds like something I would expect to hear if perhaps a calliper had seized or I had my foot on the brakes and I was trying to move, if that makes sense? its like a high pitched metallic sound. It only happens when stationary or at very low speed, like 10mph. above 10mph it stops. I'll have a look like you suggested to see if there's anything obvious. Thanks for the advise.
  8. Yeah, its done a lot of mileage, around 200k. Didn't really put me off though as my N/A had done 150k and I couldn't fault it. The idea with this is to have someone look over the engine and see how tired it is and perhaps rebuild the bottom end. I have around 5k to spend on it. My other half is in USA so she may have to send me a new bottom end as a "gift" to avoid import tax (if that's possible of course)
  9. Evening all, I've been away for a while after I sold my N/A supra. I also sold my Subaru as I decided I was going to be sensible. I spotted this UK TT Supra in auto trader and managed to haggle the guy down to £3250. It has full Toyota service history and loads of documentation, no little bits missing and all the electrics work. The engine seems pretty solid. The bad bits are: bits of rust near the front window (I think a chip guy could sort it out), there is a noise which comes from the O/S/F wheel when you turn the steering wheel to the right when stationary, its fine when driving, any ideas on this issue will be much appreciated. I'm not keen on the interior colour. I think I did ok, I know here aren't many UK Supras around, so I thought I'd give this a go. What do you think? Andy
  10. The only thing I hate about this car, is that it isn't mine.
  11. Payment has been recieved, so sold to Al. Apologies for not being there last night, was at Harrogate at an oil distributors conference (boring).
  12. Thats ok Al, no worries. Regarding the courier, i work from 8am to 6pm Mon to Fri, so they would have to collect at the weekend. Is this an issue mate? Andy
  13. Gents, how are we doing?
  14. Hi steve, iirc its about 180kgs Andy
