This remote start thing sounds like fun. Is it available on any other alarm systems. I've currently got a Toad alarm. If not what sort of price are we talking for one including the install?
-
Got'em already. CW fitted them last service Sorry dandan, we kinda hijacked your thread for a minute there. Hope you didn't mind. We'll stop it now
-
Thanks Mate. I'm looking forward to fitting it
-
Yeah, only just got around to getting my membership enabled. But I'm back now As it happens my new Blitz Nur Spec should arrive on Monday Then I'll get so real improvements :flame Dev How much do you reckon that'll raise it? Another 0.2bar or more?
-
I've also got a CW full decat but haven't had any trouble with over boosting. Mine boosts to 0.9 bar and sounds ace Just out of interest, how much extra boost do people normally get from a full decat? I got around 0.2 bar extra.

With the RLTC switched off

Tried both the 7.5 amp fuses during my lunch. Span the wheels and the TC switch to snow mode on both attemps. So I'm affraid it doesn't seem to be either. I did notice that the tc light didn't come on when the wheels were spinning. Think that was when the ALT-S fuse was out. Thanks for trying anyway. Jon

Yeah, they're all labelled but theres no TRC one I'll try to get a pic of the fuse box cover tomorrow. It seems that on the late models the ETCS fuse is in the place of the TRC fuse. So where did the TRC fuse go? Apologies to anyone reading the thread thats wondering where all these quotes are coming from. We accidentlly got on to the subject on the Manchester meet thread
-
Thanks for that Mike but according to that pic the fuse is the one I removed first of all, the ETCS fuse. Tried the 7.5 amp one below it and got a number of dash warning light lighting up, none of which were the TC light.

Kinda gone a bit off subject here. So here's the thread about the fuse thing http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8495 Who else was at the meet then? And is anyone else up for the JapEx meet at Mascrat tomorrow night (Monday 12th May)? -
Yeah, I'm sure everyone will be takin the mic tomorrow Still haven't found the right fuse though. At the manchester meet today we all tried to workout which one it was but just couldn't find it. There aren't any labelled TRC as on earlier models. Is it a 7.5 fuse?

Manchester Meet 11th May (Trafford Centre)

Blimey, you don't waste any time. Nice Pics Those remote control cars were crazy. You should have seen them when they had three of them racing each other. Mental! Didn't get everyone's name at the meet (or at least I can't remember them all). So who was there and which was your car? The name kinda gives it away but I was in the sapphire blue sup. Jon -
Oops, how embarrassing I'll have another go tomorrow. Chase- Yeah I'm still coming tomorrow. Maybe someone will be able to point out the correct fuse while I'm there See you then.

Hi guys, I recently had RLTC fitted and have just been out to my car to remove the standard traction control fuse. After removing it I started the car and all seemed fine. That was until I tried to go any where! When I put my foot on the accerlerator nothing happened. Does anyone know anything about this? I know a lot of you have removed your TC fuses without any problems. Is it something to do with the VVTi? The fuse I removed was located in the fuse box near the battery and was labelled ETCS which I took to mean electronic traction control system. Is that the correct fuse? I've put the fuse back in now and the cars fine. Any help would be appreciated. Jon

I've just got back from Chris's. He has reconnected the RPM wire and setup the system with no further problems. Everything works as it should now so it was the Race Logic unit that was at fault. Many thanks to Chris and Pete for sorting it all out and not giving up when nothing seemed to work. Thanks to everyone else on here who offered their advise too. I'm going to send back the old unit on Monday. I'll ask RL if they can give me details of exactly what was wrong with the unit. By the way if anyone else is having similar problems and need RL to send them another unit; they won't send one until they receive the old one back. This can be a problem as the car won't run without the box. I arranged to pay for a new one on the understanding that they would give me a refund when they received the old unit. Thanks again for everyone's help Jon

Those photos came out really well Pete. Here's the latest update in my RLTC diary - Saturday 5th April - Took the car back to Chris. He checked over the wires. They all seem to be fine. He disconnected the RPM wire to see if this would make any difference to the starting problem. Sadly it didn't. We came to the conclusion that it is the box that is at fault. Tuesday 15th April - Phoned Race Logic and arranged for them to send me a new unit. Wednesday 16th April - New unit arrived. Thursday 17th April - Plugged in the new unit and started the car from cold. It started no problem So it's looking good. I also connected a laptop to it and tried receiving the data file and it worked I'm going back to Chris' tomorrow for him to reconnect the RPM wire and calibrate the system. I don't want to count my chickens before they've hacked but I think we may have solved the problem.
-
Yes, the standard dat file is still in the unit. I haven't got as far as installing the new ones yet.
-
Thanks Phil but you've already sent me the files Haven't been able to use them yet though.
-
Matt - this sounds like it could be a possibility. I'll have to speak to Chris. Thanks Chris W installed the unit. I'm sure he won't mind me mention his name as his excellent reputation proceeds him.
-
Yes, Pete sorted out the ABS wires because they where completely different to the instructions. Again many thanks Pete. Sadly there's still some sort of problem.

The car had a number of things done to it at the same time so I can't say for certain that it’s the traction control causing the problem. It had a service in which the spark plugs and leads were changed. It also had a new battery and a fuel cut remover fitted. It could be caused by any of these really. It'll teach me to get one thing done at a time in future I guess

Hello everyone, last Saturday I had the installation finished for my Race Logic Traction Control. The problem is that I can't get the green diagnostic LED to flash at all and thus can't initialize the system. Has anyone else had similar problems? There are also some other symptoms that may or may not be related to this. Since the install the car doesn't start well from cold. You have to try a number of times (around 6) to get it going. However with the accelerator half way down it starts first time but misfires badly. When you take your foot off the accelerator it dies. If you then try again it starts perfectly with no misfires. The unit was installed by a very reputable installer, however he's not installed RL to a VVTi before so it is possible that it's the install but it's unlikely. Has anyone on here had a faulty Race Logic box and if so what were the symptoms? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Jon

Yes, mine are 19"s. If you upgrade your brakes you'll need spacers. I've currently got 20mm spacers but they're too big. They make the wheels stick out from the wheel arches by about 10mm. They also cause the wheels to scrub the inside of the arches when you hit a bump while turning a tight corner, you have to be really careful. Dil, one of the other guys on the forum, has these wheels too. He's got 8mm spacers and doesn't have any of the problems I have. However he had part of his wheels machine ground down. He's actually selling the wheels at the moment. Try PMing him but they may have already gone. Hope this helps.
