That's a point, What sort of electric motor do you recommend for the water pump? -
Powersteering and aircon delete - is this possible?
viper replied to viper's topic in mkiv Technical
im running a 2jz in a tubular space frame with no power steering and do not require it at all -
Im assembling the drag car, and realised im going to have to have the air con pump and power steering pump bolted on so I can run the axillary belt. Is there any way of converting the setup so I don't have to run them? Obviously wont need power steering and aircon, and seems like a lot of weight to be dragging around. just wondered if anyone has ever done it before? you opinions please.

if daywalker is up and runing by then ill bring it down but its looking bleak as i just got made redundant last week
-
very nice, get a pair of drag slicks on the back and you'll be knocking on the door of 10s - - - Updated - - - Thanks Logie, Theres plenty more work to be done that will be posted up so hopefully it will be moved eventually to project cars

Managed to remove the engine bay and all the cabin harnesses from the old supra this weekend. my god removing the cabin harness is a nightmare, Now in discussion regarding getting it all re made ready for the drag car.

Hi all, im looking to make the wiring harness upf or daywalker in the coming weeks and wanted some opinions and advice on the best way of goign about it and to see if there where any diagrams out there that would assist me. Iv removed all the harnesses out of the current supra. The engine harness is of course on the engine but i have also go the engine bay harness, the cabin harness and the body harness which i have cut from the doors back as i wont be needed the rear lights etc. My plan was to place all the looms in the drag car to get it up and running but i wanted to see if anyone had a diagram of a decent way of either modifying or creating a loom for a drag car, with only the things i need to run it. for example i will not need any lighting or interior electrics such as door and windows. all i need is the basics to allow the engine to run nothing else. Any advice would be much appreciated

sounds intresting - if the drag cars ready i could bring it down on a trailer if theres intrest

Intresting Thread, Iv always liked the R34s thanks to the fast and the furious but i have to say i wouldnt buy one over an R35 Iv currently got a 2009 subaru impreza sti 330s runing 360 brake on a fully forged cosworth lump and with its 4x4 set up it happily skips passed the likes of most other 500hp+ cars on the track with no issues. having the supra as my drag car i love but i will always miss the time of having it in its true BPU form with stock interior next to my then girlfriends r33 GTS, no comparison in my mind the supra was lovely and agreed about the build quality the supra has always been superior

Variety of Supras needed for 'Japanese Performance' magazine feature

I really don't think supra and cheap go togeather at all. -
Just ordered a new fan belt so want to get the alternator, power steering pump and aircon pump refitted so i can find a way of running without the air con pump and the power steering pump. Im thinking i might just have to live with running them both even though they are not in use

Yep so was I, that's crank hp by the way. What power are you running Thanks welsh buddy I hope so. Hoping for 9s maybe 8s

Thanks Logie, the amount of money iv lost going from one to the other i dont want to think about, but i suppose that's part of the fun. the nice thing about this project is im in no rush to get it done, just a target for march next year so plenty of time. now the engines in im happy with the progress

thanks dude, ill check them out when i come to it much appreciated

If daywalker is is done by then would you be interested in a pro et drag supra to be included? -
yep all myself, so im sure there will be problems. but thats the whole point of the project to give it a go, and learn. All the mapping will be done by someone who knows that they are doing of course.

Thanks Josh, Yeah will do, id like to do a charity launch event lots of work to do before then

Thought it was about time to get this up for all to see. In June this year I decided to go all out and build a Pro ET drag supra for 2014. I had currently been running 11 second quarter miles @ Shakespeare raceway in my current road supra, running 600hp on 550cc injectors, and AEM FIC piggy back ecu, FPR, and an HKS T04R turbo kit, with a semi built Autobox with Precision industries 3600 Hi stall Torque Converter. It had got to the stage where I never used the car on the road anymore and even when I did it was pretty horrible to drive, with the hi stall and the 27inch micky Thomson drag radials, so I decided it was time to make it purely a drag car. I could have quite happily got a trailer and continued as it was but I decided if I was going to do it I was going to go all out and purchased this: The day it was delivered was the day I had just moved in to my new house in a very quiet prestigious village so when the neighbours saw this thing turn up they looked very worried. Luckily the next day I had the whole village over for a BBQ and surprisingly where all very intrigued by it all. Although it looked relatively complete it still requires bundles of work to get it anywhere near ready to race. With no dash, windscreen and the doors requiring fitment attention there was a lot to do. Firstly I modified some of the parts that came with it and managed to get the dash fitted and painted. And then added a little bit of flare by adding the rubber edging strips. Once the dash was in I was able to get the windscreen put in. I wanted to get one made of Perspex but it was a going to be a real faff getting it right so opted for the standard screen, and actually managed to get my current supra insurance to replace the screen on the current supra and accidently have the new screen fitted onto the drag car. Next was to get the engine out the current supra and get it in the drag chassis. For an idea of fitment I then hung the engine in place to see what would be required to fit it. Having been running a piggyback ecu setup with the 550cc injectors I thought it was best to do things properly as In the long run I will be upgrading the turbo. So I purchased a set of ANSU 1000cc injectors, fuel rail, Fuelab FPR and all the fittings from Whifbitz and fitted them to the 2jz. I also managed to get hold of a new engine harness with a Syvecs plug already wired in, so that was fitted ready for going the Syvecs s6 route, which will be the next big thing to buy in the new year. The chassis came with engine mounting plates that apparently would fit directly, but of course that was not the case, and they were completely useless. So I was going to have to fabricate engine mounts from scratch. Using the original upper mounts attached the engine I then had solid mounts made of cold drawn steel and tubular steel legs made to allow the steel mount to be welded to to the legs when the engine was lined up and in place correctly. Taking a bit of a risk in hoping all would be ok when it was all tacked in place, surprisingly the engine came out with no issues and after replacing the engine again it slotted straight back in to where it need to be. Next step is to strip the engine bay harness and body harness from the old supra and start creating a new harness. Also need to modify the chassis to accommodate the gearbox mount. I want to upgrade to a full boost logic box eventually so want to use as many standard mounting parts as possible. After that I need to measure up the prop and have a new one made up, no idea where im going to get it done, but ill sort that when I get to it.
-
hope all is ok dude, fingers cross for a quick mend!
-
ah ok i got you, i was going to go for a syvecs s6, so keeping the fpr is a must by the sounds of things or even upgrading possibly
-
it ran 600 at the crank on a hub dyno at 1.4 bar with 550cc injectors, i was hoping for 700hp, boost around 1.6, on road fuel
-
intresting that calculator on the link, says 925cc injectors minimum so i guess 1000cc would be ok?
-
if i go for a syvecs then i need to understand weather its worth it, i just intend on running stock fuel - - - Updated - - - im not going to be using a standard supra tank and pump, iv got a gallon fuel cell with a automotive external pump
-
chris, thanks alot for the advice my turbo will be the restricting factor with power so 780-800cc would be ideal according to your calculations as for fuel rail pressure, im not sure as the fuel pump iv got is rated to 1300hp, i guess its going to be a bit of a learning curve across the project, once its all fitted ill get a fuel pressure guage on it and get a proper understanding of the rail pressures.
