    Fault

I bought a diag tool called 'obdmate' it does jobd, and all japenese makes. £40 saves taking it to a garage and getting raped. It showed my falut no problems, I haven't fixed the fault yet but that's another story

    Ecu tool

I got the 'obdmate' tool, not too bad does jobd and eobd, obd with an obd2 plug, for 1996 onwards just for japenese car makes. one report was the throttle was out of range and another report said that the throttle was out of position. sounds like the same fault to me? I checked the tps terminals for ohms and it was reading 0.930 with the throttle fully closed and 1.123 with the throttle fully opened. and I think its supposed to be reading 0 ohms when closed. I did adjust it on the little amount of slot you can with it but the reading was still 0.834 it the very best. So it sounds like a new tps is in order I think. need to phone Toyotas tomorrow because the only ones I can find are all overseas and want silly money for shipping and taxes. anyone know anywhere to get one over here? when you type the part number in google it seems to show yaris and prius versions? cheers, lee

    Ecu tool

Okay I ordered a diag tool and it turned up today, plugged it in and turns out the tps is not reading correctly. I have never adjusted that before but perhaps that knock I had has moved it out of position. Have you ever had experience with that and if so, how do I adjust it to the correct position? Thanks a lot for trying all those things mate, really appreciate it, sorry to waste your time aswel. Cheers

    Ecu tool

yeah definitely limp mode, with the warning light on, and yes also loses throttle, gives me a little bit but no more. yeah if you could do that that would be great thanks, I was driving it for about half an hour then it happened? I went to stick my foot down a bit and then that happened, possibly something to do with the turbo being knackered? also think I need to find another mechanic because I don't think you can diagnose an oil leak like that any help would be much appreciated

    Ecu tool

well don't forget hes a 'mechanic' some sort of super mechanic lol

    Ecu tool

Well when warmed up, it goes into limp mode, that's one problem so that could possibly be a lambda sensor as the car took a hard knock just after the front wheels. And another problem, my brothers mate who is a 'mechanic' had a look at my car as it was losing oil and found out the rear turbo has gone, (with the aid of a camera) but he seems to think he can plug a diagnostic tool in to possibly find the cause of the oil leak? I no too sure on that one though? the turbos are getting refurbed so I need to know for that reason.

    Ecu tool

Hi does anyone know what diagnostics tool can be used on a vvti import? As I have read that although it is an obd2 plug, it's jobd software, so finding the right tool can be tricky. Thanks

    Water pump

Does anyone know if the waterpump is the same on a auto as it is on the manual. Thanks?
  11. Has anyone ever done a single turbo conversion and if so, could you tell me what the costs are roughly, as one of my turbos has gone and am unsure whether to get two new ones or just convert. Thanks
  12. ok good good good so would a decat still have a temp sensor do you know? coz im thinking of getting that anyways?
  13. sorry yes I get the yellow enigine light up. I have still got both cats in. I did wonder on the lambda sensor? is that the same as the temp sensor? and would getting a decat sort this? or does that still have a temp sensor? thanks for the help
  14. I had the same problem, the motor spins a plastic cog, which then operates the air cords. it turned out the teeth on the plastic cog had slightly worn down and was jamming the window. take the metal cover off and check it out
  15. remembered I knocked the underneath of the car on a speedbump. any further help appreciated. thanks
  16. once it has happened it stays like that, but if I start the car again the next day its fine until after about 40 mins then goes into limp mode again?
  17. ok topped oil up and still having same problem, limp mode. this only happens after about 40 mins of the car running, so its well warmed up before that. does anyone know anything about lambda sensors?
  18. yeah look no worries mate, I should have worded it a bit better really, sorry to hear about the bad news, n oneed for apologies
