  1. Yes its touching again once its warm .....not happy .
  2. Sorry Chris, I don't know how to "link" ..... There is a thread called "a few things for sale" by SpeedyAndy and there is a picture on there .....The decat/manifold is a one piece system, I am using the standard N/A manifold gasket (steel/copper?) connecting to the whifbitz 2.5" 2nd decat via a universal 2.5"gasket, nothing else, yes I am concerned about the distance but to create a half inch gap would mean severley restricting one of the collector pipes .
  3. The odd thing I find is that the guy I bought it off say's that there was about 10mm clearance on his !!! That was before I adjusted it .....there is a picture of it on here, it was listed about 5 weeks ago from SpeedyAndy ..... I can just squeeze 2 pieces of 800's paper between the column and pipe ...... and that is at cold .
  4. Thanks people for all your views, I drove to work this morning (very carefully) and it felt frightening , the steering was so tight it felt like something was going to "give" at any moment and lose steering ....but it didn't . So after work I went to the garage I was after using and it was closed ...I then drove to B&Q and picked up a blowtorch and made it home ....real tight steering .....took the manifold off heated it up and beat the living crap out of it , figured 5 or so mm would have been enough ....but then another 5mm ....and another couple for good measure, didn't want to have to take it off again , put it back together .....1-2mm clearance ....good job I manipulated it as much as I did .....1hr 50mins from start to finish
  5. Thanks for your input guys , don't get me wrong, I do realise that its a serious issue but its too late at night to do anything about it now and I don't have any oxy/accetalene to get it hot enough to modify it, it's my daily drive so I need it for work, also it's totally leak free first time (no blowing) so I don't really want to take it off again, there is a garage round the corner from work where I plan on taking it when I finish in the hope that it can be done without removal ..... Fingers crossed for tomorrow
  6. Did my 2nd decat a few months ago and having recently picked up a 1st decat I thought I'd put it on this evening ....been itching to get it on since I picked it up , well after lots of struggling on the drive with basic tools and alone , I got it on only to find that my steering is now stiff and a 2mm line is appearing on the column where its rubbing , it is a 2nd hand one and I was assured there was 10mm clearance to the column......there isn't ...my question is , is it safe to get me to work in the morning (6 miles) and hopefully I can call into a garage on way home and get it heated up and manipulated out of the way .....in situe ?????
  7. I envy everybody who is lucky enough to drive behind me as they have my gorgeous back end to look at .....while I have to stare at all the other arse ends of modern cars today that pretty much all look the same ......
  8. It won't change, we have to learn to accept other road users' interpretation of acceptable driving standards and how they try to uphold the limits using their road position ..........still pi**es you off but doesn't anger you so much. Chill
  9. Old pads and new discs work fine once bedded in .
  10. I don't understand ....is this not going to be at Rockingham then ? .....Why not ?
  11. Wire wool and Solvolautosol ....oh and plenty of elbow grease ......used to do our bike engine casings this way and the results were like mirror finished
  12. Thanks for your help dude
  13. Ah I see, any idea how much the screw in ones are, reason I ask is that there is some fittings for sale on ebay which will take the stock ones and they are £18 ish for the pair, this one is also 2nd hand so I hope it fits easier than yours did
  14. I have a manifold on the way but it doesn't take the oem sensors it uses screw in ones, I was thinking about doing what I think you have done and have some fittings welded on to take the standard sensors (when I picked the front lip up I remember you saying something about them), or do I buy screw in ones ??? Did you have any fitting problems with your manifold using the standard gaskets as it looks like you have used a fair amount of exhaust paste between the manifold and your block
  15. What exactly happens when you fit an aftermarket manifold and run the N/A engine without Lambda sensors plugged in ? Does it run ok without damaging anything ?
  16. Yes I now understand this is the case but I will be putting the standard airbox back on soon when I remove my first cat and reinstalling the air temp sensor ........none of which helps th OP with his problems ...
  17. That sensor will not stop your car running, mine is cable tied to the loom out of the way as I have a k&n on .....not too sure what the problem could be .
  18. Will somebody please be kind enough to add my name to the list , wouldn't miss this for anything .......I wonder what ellis will be wearing
  19. My Celica had an annoying and illusive knock from the rear which eventually turned out to be a seized N/S handbrake cable which was letting the shoes rattle about on their fixings inside the disc ........ same setup on the Supra so you never know.....
  20. trebor69

    a few pics

Looks sweet ......I suggest you do some serious mileage in it now
  21. I've said this before and I'll say it again ....I keep thinking about getting a TT but it just seems as though more and more Turbo owners are always having issues and to tell you the truth , it's putting me off !!! I love the reliability of my N/A and am now thinking of also getting a standard Skyline to play with ........keeping my supra obviously . Sorry to hear you're having problems dude
  22. That's the lip I'm adding to mine soon ......and trial rear obviously
  23. Is this going to be a regular meet/venue or once a season thing ?
