    Oil

I also use Fuchs Titan pro s 5w40 fully synthetic, I don't like to use anything thicker as it takes time to warm up/thin out and circulate everywhere .....I like my oil to the top when I turn the key
  2. I have two of these repair studs on the way now but will seriously think about other methods of repair before going ahead with fitting them ......I only have a driveway and basic tools.
  3. I have used helicoil's in the past ....many years ago, for trying to repair motorcycle head to manifold joins (with varying results) ......the reason these two studs have given up is down to the manifold that I HAVE now decided not to use, the nuts all came off fine but due to the information I was given at time of purchase (about the 10mm clearance to steering column) and the lack of manipulation room, I had to remove the studs too to get the manifold on, that is when I found there was no clearance and it was rubbing ....so it was nuts and studs out to get the manifold out to heat up and persuade ......having taken it off four times now (each time the studs come out) I find that I have knackered two of them ........ The manifold is now clear and fits but I have now purchased a whifbitz 1st decat which is now on and will be staying that way ........I just hope to recoup some of the money I paid out for the 1st manifold now I have worked it into shape !!!
  4. No I don't David, just gradually going through the car bit by bit, most recently I bought an N/A manifold and 1st decat what later turned out to be a LHD manifold/decat which supposedly fitted with 10mm clearance to the column (my arse) and after numerous off's and on's with varying amounts of heat and persuasion I managed to get it fitted properly and clear of the column but have lost heart in it (now it finally fits) and have fitted a whifbitz 1st decat to my standard manifold and only now whilst fitting this set up do two of the studs decide they are not happy ....hence the search for repair bolts
  5. Ha, yes I've already seen what you did to that manifold and I applaud your vision, faith and commitment.....I have fabricated some things in my time but you sir have my respect
  6. Heavy duty dude , didn't think you could go up to M12 but I guess I was wrong
  7. Yes I know mate, had to take them out a few times with this manifold as clearance isn't great but I now think the stud is pulling out of the head as I thighten the nut on to it .....am going to check it with my vernier caliper as I thighten it (checking stud end distance from head etc) before I try oversize.
  8. As above really, think I may have stripped the threads one one or two of the studs (threads in the head actually) with having to keep taking this bloody manifold/1st decat off and on to mould it around the column ....PITA ....fits now but the damage is done .....wish I'd have known this before I bought it . I hear there is a repair stud (slightly oversized thread , head end) but where from? Can anybody help please ?
  9. Can anybody tell me if the TT and N/A auxilliary belts are the same size please ? .....from what I can gather its a 6PK1936 for the TT whereas above Rog has 6PK1940 and 6PK1938 figures ......can't find anything on the N/A Thanks.
  10. If it's for a LHD then you will need to beat the 2nd downpipe into collector down to half the size for it not to foul the column , o2 sensors are available from ebay but its the wire you use to join the sensors to your plugs that must be steel core not copper.

  14. Have you had your distributor out ? I have had mine out a few times and if not put back exactly right (1 tooth out) then it sounds like yours .....just a thought.
  15. Yes I've had the pleasure of seeing pictures of whats going on underneath your bonnet and having to tackle the "off" "on" "off" "on" would indeed induce many colourful phrases ......then there's your back problems ......all I can say is ..thank god its an N/A
  16. DONE !! Had to drive it for the past couple of day's with it rubbing as all my spare time when not in work has been taken up with moving my girlfriend into her new house and it's felt horrible .....the vibration and stiffness () ...made me hate driving it .....finished work today though, rushed home and ripped it off and adjusted it (heat and hammer) to fit .....oh it feels wonderfull and smooth again, its a different car . Still an absolute arse of a job that I didn't bank on .....manifold on.......manifold off......manifold on.......manifold off ....etc etc
