  1. I undo the 10mm bolt that supports the piece of loom that runs down that side of the engine and move it back towards the inner wing out of the way then whack a sharp screwdriver through the filter, making sure I have an old towel under it to catch the innevitable oil spill .......I have also made a ratchet strap out of a canvas belt before now but this was fiddly.......You could remove the battery but I don't think you would gain that much room.
  2. Thanks David, I knew you'd be the guy to ask Am just about to do my first N/A plug change and have been reading a lot about the clips on the coil packs breaking....VVTI I now understand......still quite a bit involved though what with removing the intake/throttle body etc etc.
  3. Speaking of coil packs, am I correct in thinking that the pre VVTI N/A doesn't have coil packs on top of the plugs ? Please forgive my ignorance
  4. Slightly different autobox question her.... I tried to drop the "2 litres" from the box today to replenish with fresh stuff but only 1.3 litres came out .....Am I right in thinking that this is because it was low on fluid anyway? I did check the level before draining but the car wasn't that "warm" so I'm not sure I read it correctly.
  5. 1994 N/A, built December 93, replaced crank pulley and then just routine stuff like most bushes, drop links, tensioners and bearings, boot rubbers, shocks, calipers and discs etc etc, used daily no matter the weather, 142200 kms which is 88358 miles. These cars being made by the Japanese in the 90's were built to last and not like today's rubbish which is built to be recycled.
  6. I remember reading a post on here a while ago about taking it apart and winding the mechanism back to give it more tension
  7. Hey broomie, my central locking always plays up in the colder months......just in case your fuse is fine;)
  8. I have a whifbitz 1st decat and my 2nd cat back on, had the whifbitz 2nd decat and the OBX manifold/1st decat and it was too loud, girlfriends neighbours complaining all the time, I still set car alarms off now (and there is quite a bit of in cabin noise) but it performs better lower down and it is quieter .....not much though and the girlfriends neighbours are still complaining ....but they complain when my bike is ticking over too
  9. My exact results were CO=0.00 HC=5 Lambda=1.160, this is where the problem was but it was down to a faulty connection in the wire (had previously cut it for a decat) These readings are with a whifbitz 1st decat but 2nd cat still in place .
  10. They aren't a bad lot really, to be honest its the best garage I've ever used and I grew up hanging around garages, they are now aware of the N/A Supra and I (or any other N/A for that matter) will always have the CORRECT non cat test there - - - Updated - - - My belts don't retract properly but there was no mention of them
  11. Thanks David, you're the man, your link tells me exactly what I need, .....non cat test for my N/A = ...Lambda=NO REQUIREMENT, what a guy:D. Thanks also to Nic and Ben sz-r
  12. I originally cut the two Lambda wires to fit an "OBX" manifold (I think it was) and connected them both to a single 3rd party lambda on the OBX but having changed and gone with the whifbitz 1st decat and standard manifolds I re-connected the Lambda wires back up as they originally were meant to be and now I wonder if I have a faulty connection and if this would become a faliure fault ?....car runs lovely .....the cat temp sensor is tied up out of the way.
  13. Thanks David, I'll hit him with that, do you know if what he says about the Lambda error/fault is still relevant to the non cat test ?
  14. Just had mine fail on first and second fast idle .....he told me that he had found a non turbo supra on the database and tested it as such , I am however confused as he says its the lambda that it failed on , now I have cut the lambda wires in the past when I put the decat on but am wondering if I have a faulty re-connection on one of them ......also, am I right in thinking that this faliure has nothing to do with having or not having cats fitted ? By the way , I have the second cat fitted and a whifbitz 1st decat now.
  15. Mine is a pita too ....works fine during summer but plays up in the colder months:(
  16. I have 275 40 18 on my rear's and they just clear the arch .....should I be running 35's ?
  17. Drain plug on bottom of rad and one on engine block (drivers side) near 1st cat .....ish , little hard to describe the exact position ....should have a little fitting to add drain tube ....easy to do dude.
  18. I had a similar problem and eventually found that one side of my handbrake cable had seized and therefore no longer held the shoes under tension and they would clunk and rattle about in the drum part of the disc .......only found out by testing handbrake effectiveness on rollers .....Did my head in for months.......after listening to vid though i'm not so sure.
  19. I defo recommend some sort of drain cleaner through the matrix in the flushing process , just done mine without it and although it does now blow warmer its not "HOT" ....will be doing it again soon.
  20. Stripped the threads in the holes on mine trying to pry it off......no joy, is mega stuck, good job its got loads of meat and not warped.....will heat it up when I come round to changing it
