  1. I did... Ejected too /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_oops.gif
  2. Wow...that's some serious speed! What was the trigger he pulled at the end of the run located on the roof of the car? Parachutes?
  3. My kids love it (Gen 1) but to me it's just an oversized iPhone
  4. omg.... £2500 for 24m of armco??? Were they made of gold?
  5. From what I heard he was trying to race a Corvette emerging from the pits and completely missed ignored the braking point.
  6. I've never been to the Ring but have heard its wise sorting some form of insurance out just in case you have a crash. The recovery costs are shocking and I think they won't let you leave until you've settled the bills.
  7. owned a 08 RX8 and whilst its a looker I wouldn't recommend it especially if it's a daily. Engine needs to be properly warmed up, doesn't like short journeys plus you need to rev nuts out of the car to have some fun. Oh... horrible on mways as at 80mph you are sitting at over 6000 revs...
  8. Non caged...and no harness too which I heard was why they walked away unhurt. Also something about no insurance which strangely has been removed from PH article now.
  9. Too bad it's LHD but ... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3529956.htm http://cdn.images.pistonheads.com/aimg/3529/3529956-2.jpg
  10. Ah, when I said better I meant in overall quality and feel. I have to agree the interior of the R8 is boring (and the Gallardo the same...) but at least it is well built lol. Our Q7 is abused daily and no squeaks whatsoever. I guess no one does interior like ze Germans!
  11. I've learnt my lesson and never bought new since the Renault... To be frank some used cars are as good as new but with someone else taking the first depreciation hit!
  12. All the better for me as I seem to change car like I change underpants lol
  13. Yes, both very nice cars and also >£100k cars Can't really afford spending that much on a car at the mo lol. I know the R8 V10 is also very close to £100k but I am hoping prices would drop considerably in a few months
  14. Well the R8 interior is definitely better than the GTRs and that V10 howl is to die for! Never driven one on the road yet so I will reserve my judgement. I would definitely have the McLaren if I can afford it lol. Being a bit of a geek tech cars are a big hit with me. The fezza looks nice too...
  15. Blimey! Dream job lol. Watching "Best of TG" on telly and JC's comment on the McLaren reminds me of this thread Well, as we already have 2 cars at home I am afraid the toy idea is out for now. Maybe in a few years when I can afford a bigger house to park all the cars... Don't be mistaken the GTR is a brilliant driver's car but I am very fussy and the interior is my biggest bugbear at the moment. Seeing the latest iteration of the GTR looks almost the same as the old one I don't see how Nissan is asking almost £70 for it. Definitely a great driving experience especially every time I bury the loud pedal but alas I can't be on the track as often as I like. Thinking of the R8 as future replacement which I am sure you will definitely detest
  16. Same as how I've heard horror stories about 911s then eh? But still Porsche sell them so expensively! Shock horror! Seriously though, the GTR does have a strict (and expensive) maintenance regime and I supposed not every owner can stomach that ( I guess at least not for a Nissan... ). If you have never driven one I would suggest you try it just to feel it. It is indeed a very different experience. Supercar performance at bargain price Really loving car at the moment but I will say the ownership might not last for too long. It's brilliant in a lot of ways but hard to justify as a proper every day car for long term. I guess that's why there are loads of low mileage GTRs in the market.
  17. yeah those are the normal 500s. I have a colleague with a "specced up" 500 which looks almost like an Abarth and she is paying that in road tax! Insurance is also a bargain on those cars If running cost is the main criteria I would then think the 500 is a good idea. Cheap and cheerful! Easy to park too lol...
  18. Never owned a Porsche so can't comment but I don't see what is wrong with the GTR to be that unreliable? The only fault I had with the GTR so far (touch wood!!!) is the TPMS which was fixed on warranty . Mechanical wise the car starts and runs fine each push of the button - even after leaving it standing for 3 freezing cold days. Interior wise... well yes I would say it is definitely not up to scratch as the Germans as I've got few annoying buzzing and rattling developing randomly depending on ambient temp... grrr... Although to be fair part of that might be caused by the previous owner having a "custom" install for a Road Angel device. But I digress... I am very curious where you get the idea about the GTR's reliability problems...
  19. Hmm, don't Abarths come with xenons? Funky little cars and I've heard cheap road tax too?
  20. ... and you want a Porsche? I love Alfas (GTV...8C) but just can't afford or warrant owning one now... Agree, bang for buck is relative indeed. For me I am happy my stock car can easily outpace almost every car on the road - only my talent is the limit It will be very hard to decide the GTRs replacement...
  21. Ah, the talk about emotion You definitely will love Alfas then! Plenty of emotion GTRs are a bit of a money pit but then again aren't most high performance cars? If I were to spend £55k + on a car I personally would want the best bang for buck but I can see where you are coming from if you can afford any car you desire edit: I won't lie if I win Euromillions I would definitely get myself the Cayman R... and the 911 Turbo S too!
  22. Yes I think so Perhaps I am not really a Porsche man myself? I think the Carrera is fugly and never really liked the the rest of the models except maybe for the GT2RS edit: Blimey, just specced up a Cayman R and it's nearing GTR prices after specced up properly... I know which one I'll pick
  23. Well I have test driven the Cayman R (very short time tho...) and TTRS but I preferred the TTRS more. It's hard to tell unless I can drive both on track but on the real world I would prefer a TTRS (with Mag Ride). I could be biased tho
  24. The Cayman R is certainly a very dynamic and powerful car (for its size). However, for that money I would rather go for the TTRS. Horse for courses etc
