Well over the past week I've been working through getting the rear side of my car cleaned properly whilst the weather has been lovely. My aim was to just get the rear axle section sorted and tidied, so I went to Frost in Warrington and bought some Dinitrol rust convertor and undersealed paint along with some POR15 rust over paint. I know how good this stuff is because we have used it on our z31 build and how this stuff dries is crazy, we took a chisel and hammer to it and wouldn't even leave a mark!! First job was cleaning, spent time with a wire brush getting as much loose rust off as possible, and then hit with the POR15 degreaser, properly rinsed off and left to dry all week. Once all this was dry I went over everything with the dinitrol rust convertor, left overnight to eat in as much as possible. After that I went over as much as I could with the POR15 rust over paint, again left to dry over night and then today I booked in to a local self DIY garage to finish of with some underseal. It is a ball ache if a job and would definitely recommend paying someone to do it. I was going to take it to JR classics next week but he would of had to keep the car till September until he could even start it so pointless. Next will be to box of the front section and leave it at that, was good to get it on the Ramos and see underneath as it was better than expected for what is a 20 year old car! Any here's some pics of before and after and a lil video. Again showing the genuine condition of the car ( sills are fooked as I've stated before from poor jacking but one day do plan to get these straightened properly). Before anything After POR15 After Dinitrol undersealed Front section, not in bad condition

Think I need to up my budget, rails are going to be £400, will keep an eye out daily now on ebay and gumtree for some, looks like it's going to about 1k for the full set up. Finding the facelift seats fairly uncomfortable
-
Just found these, might make a cheaky offer they do look good!! Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232344421786 What rails would I need for these?
-
They do look very smart what are they?

Toying with the idea of putting some new seats in the car (will store my facelift seats anyway so it could be returned back to be OEM if needed). Just looking for something like these, quite standard looking, would I also need to get new rails or is there any brand of bucket seat that would use the rails in the Supra? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cobra-Sports-Bucket-Seats-with-Recline-/252936326368?hash=item3ae42e0ce0:g:dYUAAOSwjL5ZFu0A

for sale SOLD SOLD SOLD1996 FACELIFT NA/TT non-vvti BPU

Sounds like a beauty! I've come back into the Supra scene, with an NA though! -
Here for sale is our MX5 1.6 MK2 Track car. We have owned this for nearly a year and in that time we have only managed to find time to do Croft,Oulton Park and a small time attack at three sisters, hence the sale. Now with the Supra, Starlet and Nissan Z31 and just lack of time, this needs to go. It's been absolutely faultless, never once has it not started, performed without any mechanic issue on both track days, it's been a joy to own. It's far from a show car, however has had a fair amount of time and money put into it. 1.6 Engine Approx 45k miles MOT Expires 30th June New ebay coilovers fitted Full service including brake flush, oil and filters, new yellow stuff pads, new disc all round, done about 1k miles since all this was done New rear arches cut and welded in, new rear sills cut and welded - see pics Refurbed some old MG wheels and sprayed white, not a bad finish with new rubber, again about 1k miles on them Ebay front and rear strut braces New front calipers fitted Wezmoto braided brake lines Not much in terms of service history, bought purely for track use and for the occasional commute to work so this wasn't really a concern Hasnt used a drop of oil, no loss of coolants etc Heated rear screen Bad bits - it's gold Still has body filler on rear arches - just simply haven't had time to get this smoothed and properly blended Front arches need filling and sorting to smarten it up Interior, although doesn't have any rips etc, is a tatty, scratched dashboards etc No horn, needs wiring in to the aftermarket steering wheel Usual leak from the softop Apart from this, although it's no show car it truly has been a joy to own, feels solid when driven with no knocks, clunks etc, nice precise gear changes, and on track it feels like a lil go kart! £1000 ovno takes it, which I feel is a fair price for the lil extras it has fitted, plus with some of the welding work that has already been carried out underneath. See below, plenty of pictures, also thread I started on here about it - http://www.mkivsupras.com/vbb/showthread.php?333298-Out-of-the-blue-car-purchase& When we first bought it: my

If so a guy called Broomie offered his 2002 NA for sale that looked to be in very good condition.

I wouldn't say mines a minter I'm fairly picky! Needs a few lil touch ups here and there but it's certainly unmessed with which is exactly how I wanted it!

Car booked in to JR classics in Doncaster on the 3rd June for rust proofing/undersealed using Bilt Hamber products. Going to leave it there for a week for a proper job. Also might have some bodywork chips etc sorted dependent on cost. For now though very much looking forward to having the underside sorted for extra peace of mind!
-
JR classics have just come back to me, quoted around £430 dependent on treatment used. Asked for a price on the Bilthamber stuff, will see what they say. Not the cheapest but don't mind paying a bit more if it's done right, and judging from some of there work on the website they seem to know what they are doing! Hoping to get it in there next weekend if possible and will leave it there for a week or two to be done properly.

Without getting right underneath it I don't know how good or bad it is, from what I can see it seems to be in very good nick considering it's age. I have just emailed JR Classics to get a price for the work, told them id want loads of before and after shots of the process to make sure it's done correctly. Will see what I get back and let you know.

Hi All My next main job for the Supra is to get the underside treated for any rust and get it properly undersealed. Struggling to get anyone who does the job near me (Warrington) and obviously it's a job I want done right. Would it be easier enough to do yourself with a bit of time and effort? Was contemplating buying some of the plastic low profile ramps what lift the car about 20cm and tackling it but if access is going to be a nightmare would rather it go to a garage and get it done on the ramp properly. Any help or recommendations greatly appreciated as want to get it done whilst the weather is improving!

Lovely car mate, and perfect weather for it!

Treated the car to another clean now the lil jobs have been done. Supras really are stunning cars these days, crazy the amount of attention they get!

Managed to get the new Alternator fitted today which is good! Also the eye sore fog light has now been removed and wired into the rear cluster, looks much better now.

Part number from TCB TCB-AL195

Ok thanks Sheefa I've roped someone in to help at the weekend who's very good at anything mechanical! To be 100% that I'm ordering the right alternator. Paul at TCB has stock of a new TT alternator (big case)? Will this fit a 1999 NA auto? Want to make sure it bolts straight on!

Well today has been a pretty shite day in the life of Supra ownership! Got in the car to work this morning and on way the battery light and the tailgate light lights had lit up on the dashboard and my Speedo kept dropping to zero.whenever I blipped the throttle above 3.5-4k revs the Speedo kicked in again. I decided to change the battery knowing it's not likely to be that, but figured it's been 4 years apparently since the last one so figured just to do it as the other one will now come in handy as a spare just incase. Anyway took it to an auto centre on way home and the alternator is only reading out approx 12v with full lights on etc. Problem i now have is I don't want to be driving the car incase it dies. Going to buy a new alternator but just wondered if anyone near Warrington /Newton Le Willows could fit it for me (at the going rate obviously) if I were to buy the alternator? Was planning to take it to Chris again but it takes an hour and half and it's to risky. Tried AC Speedtech in Warrington who are hammered with work for the next few weeks. Appreciate anyones help as it's a job I'm definitely not to comfortable doing myself!
