  1. Right, the IACV is definitely working as it should (i.e. when revved to 4000rpm its hammed lifts off its stop). I have also cleaned the reed valve out in the IACV housing. Now the boost starts to rise at 2500 very slowly to about .35bar then it shoots up at about 4000 to 1.1bar. From how Ian C described it, wouldn’t this behaviour suggest the EBV is the issue here?! Also it’s worth noting that the issue was not present before the turbo assembly swap therefore it points to a fault with a component which is new to the car (EBV).
  2. Anyone? All i can think is its the actual valve that the EBV actuator opens.
  3. Since replacing my turbos I am only seeing about 1psi of boost before 4000rpm, after 4000rpm I am seeing 1.1bar. Also when I put my foot down I am seeing negative boost instead of 0 that it used to. I have tried and tested everything I can think of and all the suggestions from other people’s posts. I have checked:- All vsv switch as they should Put pressure through EBV actuator to check its arm moves Checked EBV actuator arm has not fallen off Checked EBV hoses are the correct way round Checked IVAC actuates as it should Also tried the TTC mod and it boosted exactly the same apart from there was obviously no boost at all before 4000rpm Like I say I am getting the correct boost pressure once both turbos are engaged so I really don’t think they are cooked. Any thoughts what to do next guys or what is wrong????
  4. i hope so. i am still boosting over 1bar, would this be the case if the 1st turbo wasn't working?
  5. No not yet, wanted to try to eliminate everything else before pulling them out.
  6. Iv checked the VSVs are working , all seems ok(switching when connected to battery) Next I did TTC mod to try and rule out the IACV actuator, after the ECU sorted is self out the car ran and boosted EXACTLY the same. As the IACV actuator can be moved manually, would this mean there is something up with the signal to the VSV? Could it still be a damaged first turbo?
  7. That doesn't sound good. Surely if that was the issue it would sound really rough. Anyone know how I could check the operation of the actuators?
  8. Yes, getting full boost when second turbo kicks in, although once or twice it has held back and neither turbos have kicked in. Will check all hoses again but it just seems strange to me that a vsv or actuator would fail when the new turbos were fitted.
  9. Just had some s/h j-spec turbos fitted (minimum play in shafts and visible impellers in perfect condition), problem in having is there is next to no boost being generated from the first turbo. When the second turbo kicks in everything seems to be fine. I have searched for days on this but I can’t find a cause. I have checked the IACV VSV and it seems to be working as it should, also checked all related piping. What do I check next? How could I check the actuators are working properly? p.s. car was running fine before turbo change.
  10. max boost is sorted. but now the 1st turbo wont spool up!
  11. I’ve sourced some very low mileage turbos, during fitting 3 cracked pipes were found so that was the boost leak sorted. In hindsight maybe I should have kept the old turbos as they only puffed the smoke the once and that was with no RR. I’m guessing most turbos with no back pressure in the exhaust would allow a drop of oil into the exhaust after a hard drive and long idle. Thanks for everyones help on this.
  12. Bad news! All I wanted was a reliable 400bhp. I’m thinking I might be better off buying some second hand turbos, I have found some on ebay with 3 months warranty ,I can’t justify going single as it’s an auto and I have been advised against hybrids. What to do?? Also should I stop driving it? If the seals went completely would I wreck the engine?
  13. Just to add, after a drive this morning i left the car ticking over for 5 min, the exhaust started blowing loads of white smoke. it has never done this before, if it is the turbo seals could this be causing the low boost pressure?
  14. I have a thor vfcc, not fitted at present as i wanted to make sure the boost gauge was reading correctly(i.e. fuel cut at 1bar). The exhaust is blitz nur spec r with 3" decats.
  15. Right, first off I misread the boost gauge, it wasn’t .9bar it was 9psi! I’ve taken the rr out, took her for a run out and did a few high speed pulls and it did hit fuel cut once(at about 6500rpm)-boost gauge reading was 14psi. So I recon I must have a boost leak as the exhaust is 3” straight through or if there was a leak would the boost have stayed the same if it had a rr in or not?? Any ideas?
  16. i think i found the ones you mean (about 10mm outside dia.)? everything looks fine with them.
  17. I have checked the vacuum hoses simply by having a feel around while some one revs the engine. Is there a proper method for doing this? I would just get rid of the RR but i want to find a reason for it not affecting the boost
  18. I have just fitted a double decat to my j spec tt, after fitting with a 52mm dia. RR it ran .9bar, I filed it out to 54mm and it is still .9bar. iv got a walbro pump but not yet fitted. The exhaust is a 3” blitz nur spec r. I doubt the boost isn’t rising due to the lack of a decent fuel pump, can anyone suggest what the issue could be?
  19. is there an easy way to disconnect the active spoiler motor to keep it perminatly down? i want to keep the motor in place and i cant find any controllers for sale at the mo.
  20. I was bidding on one on eBay but lost it due to making a mistake on the ending time. It sold for 20 something £ - an absolute steal
  21. Does anyone know where can i get a trl performance vfcc? I can't find anywhere that sells them. I have contacted Thor but they only sell the hks fcd. If they are not available anymore is the next best thing a GReddy unit?
  22. I’m not bothered if I get 18” or 19”, I just really liked the red lipped ones looks and they only come as 19”. I’ve been looking for wheels for 6 weeks now (second hand and new) and I can’t find any I like that decently priced. I guess I’ll keep looking for a decent second hand set as I can’t justify spending over a grand on a set of wheels. Cheers for the advice.
