  6. I have seen these threads popping out on many forums esp lexus, toyota and nissan ones, comparing LFA with GTR and somehow many of the members conclude that LFA is too expensive and they would rather buy a GTR as if they have a choice like they have quarter of a million sitting in the bank and most of all an LFA waiting to be picked up. Wake up there are only 500 being made and out of these only 5 are coming to UK and even if you have millions sitting you wont be able to get one. So stop dreaming about buying one and getting the 6 figure number into the discussion. The following stuff is from wikipedia ... Just listen to the roar of the exhaust note from Lexus LFA advert: R6jw0xk0QKM I know people tend to compare LFA and GTR as there are lots of comparisons between GTR and other cars. GTR is a great car and produces some great numbers. But LFA exists in a totally different dimension where GTR doesnt. And in these dimensions we cannot draw parallels. The technical advancements is what that matters. As clearly said in some of the adverts, LFA is an engineers wet dream. Getting the weight distribution, kerb weight, downforce, aerodynamics, performance per cylinder, performance per litre of engine size, carbon fibre weaved monocoque, and most of all drivability and reliability etc are very impressive. It is all about how far these can be stretched. The engine itself revs happily to 9000 rpm that too from 0-9000 rpm in 0.5 second which itself is a big advancement for a road car (I know race cars do have high revving engines but they are high maintenance and unreliable). GTR is just another car with good turbos and tune (big number produced by Nissan rather than other famous ranks) but LFA would be one of its kind (atleast for now). Also people who manage to get their hands on an LFA dont think they bother about GTR rather they would look into Ferrari Enzo, Carrera GT, McLaren SLR, Zonda ... I may aswell go as far as saying LFA is the best engineered and most technologically advanced road production car right now (though I might have to edit this statement once McLaren MP4-12C goes to production)
  7. One great invention ... hope something comes out of this ...
  8. Hi folks, I had a set of TEIN FLex coilovers installed on my car last weekend. We just followed the instructions in the installation manual and set every measurement to the specified values. Now I find the ride very stiff and the car sits quite low as the exhaust is bottoming out on speed bumps even though I go over them at a snails pace. I would like to increase the height of the coilovers by at least an inch on each corner. I have gone through the manual and various forums but it is getting a little confusing. Some say to release the dampening rod by releasing the top mount screw, some suggested unscrewing the lower part a bit and tighten the first ring from bottom, while others adviced to squeeze the spring and then adjust the two rings below and on spring rebound it will push the centre dampner out a bit increasing the height overall. Does anybody in here know how to adjust(increase) the height of these coilovers? I am new to these and any help would be much appreciated. Thank you
  9. I have to totally agree with you ...
  10. Ha ha ... havn't seen these sort of celebrations in F1 before ... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8685580.stm
  11. I am on 24 meg with BE on a BT line and I can see my router synchronised at 18.46 Mbps download and 2.4Mbps upload ... BE never let me down for the last 4 years .. excellent service. The only bottleneck to the service is BT, their copper wire, exchange and network!
  12. Here goes the coloured pics from my work You can clearly see here how this bearing has deteriorated. Looks like some water was seeping in and corroded the bearings and the grease looks dirty too ... Look at the difference between the n/s and o/s front bearings (the offside one was faulty)
  13. Here is the list of all the steps/instructions with images along with torque settings for the various nuts from the workshop manual. Cheers
  14. Hi Folks, I had a problem with my wheel bearings, the one on the front right was faulty. One of the things I noticed was a harmonic noise when I drive over 50 mph. More like WooWooWooWoo. This means the hub is not rotating freely. The garage who I generally use put the car up on a ramp with the wheels hanging, proved it to me that the wheel bearing is making the noise by rotating the wheels on both side. The one on the right (o/s/f) was not rotating freely and was also making some noise compared to the one on the left (n/s/f). I did do a search and put up a post for this but never managed to find decent info about the work, time and complexity involved in replacing a wheel bearing. So I decided to put this post put for a tutorial on replacing the front wheel bearings. The replacement parts you need from the catalogue are shown highlighted in the following pic along with the part numbers. You need a set for each side of the axle. Also the garage should be equipped with a decent hydraulic press to press out the bearing and press in the new bearing. If you use a hammer or something else to press the bearing in you have a very high chance of damaging it. 1) Hole Snap Ring (Front Axle) - 90521-82001 2) Oil Seal (Front Axle) - 90311-50008 3) Nut (Locking nut) - 90179-24005 4) Grease Cap (front Axle Hub) - 43514-24010 To do this job we had to Remove the wheel Remove the brake disc Remove the brake caliper (see that it is secured properly) Disconnect all the control arms from the hub Disconnect and remove the ABS sensor from the top of the hub (recommended but we did not) Remove the studs on the wheel hub (recommended but we did not) Remove the the wheel hub which contains the bearing. Remove the centre grease cap Remove the nut under the grease cap Remove the ABS skid control rotor Using the press remove the Hub sub assay out Remove the oil seal Remove the snap ring Using the press remove the bearing out Using the press, press the new bearing in and do the above steps in the reverse order
  15. dont know what to make out of it ... looks like some future supra quite low to the ground ... tho dont like the twisted wheels
  16. Thanks god, I am up in Scotland! I would have never got this ticket in here ...
  17. Not sure your model has wheel bearings but I am pretty sure it should. If the wheel bearings are out you will experience some vibrations esp at higher speeds > 60mph. Does it feel different/better when you turn in right or left at that speed?
  18. I do use google for general internet browsing. It is my default browser. It is definitely faster compared to other on most of the websites. But from my experience the difference in speeds between Chrome, Firefox and IE is not that big. I would even go as far as saying the difference is not noticeable. Some of the websites still dont work on chrome which is a shame. Btw this video is good as the chrome page load only takes a couple of seconds (sometimes even less) so need to watch other actions in slow mode for comparison.
  19. If this turns our to be true, our government can make some good use of this meditation technique and put all of the people on long term unemployment benefits to rigorous meditation. Looks like this is the way out of recession ;-)
  20. Pulled this one from one of the other car forums. Find it quite funny ... hope it doesnt offend anybody -whoever is participating in the said strike
  21. Dont know whether you came across scania truck turbos ... Here is Neil Griffiths thread - Baby Hulk (Btw: Neil is very famous in the lexus and soarer clubs AUS for his various mods) http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/121829/309868.html?1272358063 These scania truck turbos are huge!!
