In this instance, being a Mines ECU won't be any different to being an OE ECU.
The problem is not the torque converter, it is the transmission.
If your transmission hasn't been maintained properly, (like most Club members auto boxes) you could try fitting a new strainer and giving it a full flush with premium ATF (Not the cheapest of cheap piss that many/most Club idiots use) and add a bottle of Lucas SS.
This may resurrect it for a while?
