http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing/polishing-machine/das-6-dual-action-polisher-menzerna-kit/prod_522.html this is the kit I have. Thanks for the bit about resprays Scott - I have an aftermarket bumper and the bonnet was also resprayed so that covered my next questions.

Alright - It was a good idea to check then as I am sure one of the compounds I have in my kit and was going to try is quite an abrasive cut. I shall adjust my plan accordingly - aiming to improve some of the swirl marks mainly. Cheers guys

Its black - sorry I should have been a bit more specific =)

As the title says really.. I am getting into machine polishing and lots of the guides I am reading make reference to paint hardness. Apparently Hondas have "soft" paint and these are Japanese so by that logic I am thinking Toyota is also "soft" .. but this is just an assumption. Does anyone know for sure where it sits on the scale? Cheers

I would be interested to see some chart listing the amount of money the government has lost from cigarette sales now that nobody can smoke in a pub etc compared to how much they have compensated for it by fuel tax. Im a non smoker but know lots of people who cut down heavily, or stopped going to the pubs as much because of this. So that must be a loss of cash which they need to make elsewhere. But were a captive audience, the same way the cinema or in-flight carts can charge heavily inflated prices for normal stuff - its not a case of people being able to suddenly decide not to drive anywhere.

If you have a large Sainsburys supermarket near you give them a call and ask if they have any "Autoglym Super Resin Polish" (SRP) - it seems to be a very highly regarded product over on the detailers world forum. It usually sells for around a tenner for 325ml, I picked up four bottles at £1.74 each at a Sainsburys near me - they had quite a lot left too! Also over on detailers world Chemical Guys Mirror Wet Finish seems to be a good product for black cars. For wax the Autoglym High Definition wax is getting good reviews - and its price is just right. You can pick it up from Amazon for around £27 delivered (It is 39.99 in Halfords, so if you dont mind waiting a few days for delivery..). A good clean (snowfoam / two bucket method) and then using SRP and HD wax will give decent results. Also if you buy a power washer the Nilfisk was on special (c110) at Argos for some 50quid.. better than most 120+ Karchers as it has a metal motor.

Some would regard that as a bonus to keep the missus from driving it

Dave identified it - thats the one I was looking at http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=171069 I thought the yellow breaks just really stood out and I kinda like it. I had been searching for a good 45 mins for that thread!

I spotted a black supra with some yellow calipers that looked awesome. It was whilst I was browsing the forums, but after searchign my history of visited pages I cannot find it.. It had no spoiler, really nice silver alloys and big yellow calipers. It was black, looked very clean. Some of the comments said it reminded them of a F something or other.. Whos is it? I wanna show someone the pic

Have you washed the car yet and is this stuff still on? Some scumbags have taken a knife to those areas on my car and subsequently made it look naff. I am not sure how to fix it, but this looks like an option - provided its durable enough. -
Between Beverly and Hornsea today - you looked like you were heading towards Hornsea and I was on my way to Beverly in a black supe. Was a fair few cars in front of you and my sister was nattering in my ear complainig about the lack of back seat space lol - noticed you as you went by, then in the rear view mirror

Got mine this morning and theyre now installed. The difference is remarkable, now instead of struggling to keep the boot open im struggling to actually shut the thing Cheers Ray Was worth the wait! I had to remove them once installed though as the little nut wasnt tight and was rattling - so make sure you tighten that part up (the end that connects to the car) before fitting them peeps
-
Not yet, but there was a request for some addresses so i suspect them to be delayed slightly - so hoping for next week some time.
-
I think the plastic trim does need to come out, but not sure how.. I have had the boot panels out (from inside the boot) - but until I install my new struts I cant work around much inside the boot. I want to see if it will just pop out, and the it will be a case of trying to get the paint damage fixed - the paint hasnt been cracked, but there is a speckled white horizontal line at the center of the crease. I am assuming it a jack up, wheel off, plastic trim bit out and then push from inside type of affair.. but just for bodywork the garages / bodyshops round here go "ohh import.. pricy".. as if import makes much difference to the bodywork.. =/
-
Just a quick question regards to the rear area of the car, around the petrol flap. (not sure if this is called the rear wing?) If I were to take the wheel off, can I get behind that panel to knock a dent out from the inside? Ive had a feel / look around the rear wheel arch and it looks like its sealed up, but I dont know if that part can be taken off. Basically im trying to figure out if I can remove the crease thats been on my car since I bought it. It was caused the night before I was due to buy it, and the seller was supposed to fix it as part of the deal - but changed his mind. I would take it to a bodyshop but im convinced the last time I went there I was overcharged a fair whack.. and im not 100% happy with the result either. I can get some pics if that would help - its been an eyesore for a long time and now the weather is better I want to sort it. Additionally if I do take it to a bodyshop I think it would help if I "knew" what I was talking about so the quote isnt astronomical again.. Cheers

Id sent a PM pretty much when these first went up about delivery but at the time it didnt seem like it was an option.. its only with the lack of interest from local people that I have tried the delivery option again.
-
Cheers Ive got a bid thing on shiply and sent a message off to PaisleyFreight - will check out Parcelforce. DHL and the like were quoting silly numbers.
-
Cheers - I have a few emails and such fired off to a couple of freight companies. Will see what they say. A couple wont touch it as its fragile and over 2.0m length (using that as an approx figure).
-
Thats a fair point about splitting them up. I just measured the side of the car. 2 meters is near about spot on, saying theyre half a meter wide is probably being over generous? If you could find those approx dimensions though it would help. If they were well packaged with bubble wrap / scrunched up paper or polystyrene bits I imagine they should be okay.
-
Aye I am also a bit worried about possibly damaging them in transit I have set up a shipley account and put in estimations of the diameters to see what quotes i get back. Weight I put as 10kg, length 200cm, height 50cm, width 50cm wrapped in bubblewrap.. I will see what type of prices I get quoted. If its relatively reasonable then I may go with it. I am assuming if they got damaged in transit then it would be between myself and the delivery company to work out compensation for it as surely a freight company should be able to deliver stuff unbroken (one would hope..). Ill wait to see what quotes I am returned.

Is postage definately a no-go? not sure if due to their size they could be delivered intact etc.. or what it would cost to move them. Can you give me the dimensions of these please; 1) length (guessing about 2 meters) 2) width 3) height 4) weight Can they be packed in a way that they are inside themselves sort of, or would they have to be side to side? Do you have bubble wrap?
