  1. I'm doing an oil change and am not sure which is the oil sump nut. I can see two possibilities one of which is further back from the engine. I think this one is for the gearbox and the one i need to undo is more directly beneath the engine. Can anybody confirm this please?

    Decats?

If I understand correctly it's like removing an obstruction and allows the exhaust system to become more free flowing. I'm sure someone can do a much better job of explaining:)
  3. I took a print out of the settings from mkiv.com with me. That's probably the best thing you can do as I doubt they will have kept them on file. I could be wrong though. It does take a while so be prepared for a long wait!
  4. Hi Neil Very happy with the new settings and would definitely recommend having the alignment done. Had a close look at the tyres yesterday and it's looking quite promising with regard to uneven wear on the front which I was experiencing before. Are you going down to Micheldever?
  5. My car is lowered on eibach springs and I have the nur spec exhaust. Caution is definitely required with speed humps. Had a look at the underside of the car at Leon's a while back and a small dent and a fair few scrape marks on the middle section:(
  6. Dandan I had Lance's settings applied to my car recently When I had the four wheel alignment done at Micheldever. I'm pleased with the resultant improved feel from the steering although I haven't done enough mileage as yet to gauge wear on tyres. MOT is due

Green I have a NUR spec with the baffle removed and it went through the MOT no problem. Mine has no cats either so would probably be louder than yours. I can't see you having a problem but if you're worried you could always take the baffle with you, like Faye just bolts back in using 10mm spanner.
  8. This is exactly what Leon told me when he recommended having the alignment done. Definitely a better feel to the steering overall. Will be keeping a close eye on tyre wear although I've not noticed this on the rears before which the article on mkiv.com mentions.
  9. John 275's at the rear, 245's on the front. I'd previously been for a 4 wheel alignment at a Merityre branch but they clearly didn't have the proper equipment to carry this out. They made some adjustments to the front but said they couldn't anything with the rear. I was pleased at first as I'd been experiencing wear to the outer edges of the front and thought they'd cured it. In fact the wear just shifted to the inner edges:(
  10. No never did find it, had to send away to Germany for a replacement. Bit of a pain but nevertheless reassuring to know they're not on sale at the local Halfrauds:) One thing I forgot to mention was that I actually booked this mornings appointment about 3 weeks ago, that place is certainly busy! Had to be there for 8am as well:eek:
  11. Finally managed to get this done this morning at Micheldever down in Hampshire. Booked the car into Octagan (Toyota dealer in Bracknell) for this a few weeks back but apparently my car was too low to go on their ramps:eek: (It's not THAT low so I was a bit fecked off about this) Anyway it all seems to have worked out well cos the guy at Micheldever was perfectly happy to apply the reccomended settings from mkiv.com whereas Toyota refused to do this. On the drive back I could feel a noticeable difference with the car feeling much ''tighter'' in a straight line. The steering does seem a tad heavier but certainly more responsive. Didn't really get the chance to do any spirited driving through the twisty bits but overall I'm well pleased with the result. £135 approx and took the guy 4 hours in total which I spent in the waiting room where the damn coffee machine was busted:mad: Have hopefully managed to attach the before and after print out.
  12. Correct. I had to go there once to have brake pads fitted as Bracknell was fully booked for weeks in advance. Made sure I was tooled up:)
  13. I got these fitted at JPS the other week along with clear side repeaters. Think the front indicators were £80-£90 although that was fitted. Don't recall the fitting taking long at all.

    Plugs or not ?

Fuel cut normally exhibits itself with sudden loss of power and dash warning lights coming on. It's not a pleasant experience:eek:

    RLTC in the Wet

Far Worn rear tyres make a huge difference to the way my car handles in the wet. Even RLTC can't help:) I'd get new rears ASAP if I was you.
  16. Best way is to find someone with a UK car and try one of your wheels. Neil (HISUPE) tryed one of his wheels on my car at lunchtime and it fitted........just:) I know his wheels are 17" but not sure what make. HTH

    Brakes

Ok Neil just let me know.

    Brakes

Neil no problem doing this as long as you have the necessary tools cos I don't. I've got a jack thats about all! Let me know when you want to do this, I can nip out of work whenever I like.

    Brakes

Neil Do you still work up the road from me? If so you're more than welcome to take a look at my car if it helps you ascertain whether UK brakes will fit.

    Laser Alignment

Neil I'm giving Toyota a ring about this later today. I'll find out about prices and ask them whether they'll do yours.
  21. Have searched and found plenty of info on 4 wheel alignment. I'm looking to get this done in or around the Bracknell area and was hoping somebody could recommend somewhere. Went to a place a while back to get this done but on arrival it was clear they didn't have the neccesary equipment to do this properly From what I could see they basically just adjusted the tracking the result of which is my front tyres now wear on the inside as opposed to the outside:( Presuming I can find a place that will do this is it worth taking the geometry settings from mkiv.com along and getting those put on the car? Has anybody actually done this? Getting new front tyres this week so any advice appreciated.
  22. Okay wasn't going to ask this as it betrays my total ignorance on this subject but here goes:) The wheels??? Do you mean the cam gears Dude? And difficult to dial in? I await the ridicule I undoubtedly deserve
  23. I've been thinking about this mod for a while now. Anyone have a rough idea of what I'd expect to pay overall? Had an idea the cams are about £800 is that right?
  24. Glad I was worrying about nothing! Have ordered 2 x 275/35/18 Goodyear F1. Quoted £176 each fitted from Bracknell Tyre and Battery. I presume this price is okay? I've always found them to be the cheapest in the past.
  25. Plenty of tyre threads I know but none with the quite the answer I'm looking for. Currently running with 265's rear and 235's front. Rears are definitely in need of replacement but fronts still have a fair bit of tread. (Were fitted as a set) I'm wanting to put 275's on at the back and when the time comes 245's on in front. How bad an idea is it to run with the combination of 275 rear and 235 front or am I worrying about nothing?
