  1. just had the clutch out of the car flywheel bolts hadcome loose so used new arps. anyways while the exhaust was off i thought id have a measure up and the system is actually 4.5" bore in the downpipe and centre sections ! it then splits in 2 which look like 2.5 - 3" i forgot to measure those, makes it seem abit more worthwhile the previous owner going custom as 4" seems to be the biggest available of the shelf.
  2. looking for a pas pump for 1999 tt supra if anyone has one ?
  3. just reading on the supraforums the carbonetics is no good at drag racing seems the general consensus.
  4. the outer most plate is warped 0.5mm on the outside edge so within carbonetics tolerances, the reason mine has got hot is a flywheel bolt has fell out and jammed in the clutch not letting the outer clutch plate release so slipping it all the way home, i checked with carbonetics and it was all within max tolerances of wear and warpage, reinstalled earlier and the clutch is working perfect, infact better than its ever been. im at pod in 10 days so il see how it goes up there, on my previous launches its probably had about 1 second of slip, if she holds together then the carbonetics will be staying.
  5. dont worry mate i have the tolerances from carbonetics of maximum warpage, its 0.6 mm my top plate is warped to 0.5mm on the outer edge but the clutch is working perfect just only contacting 3/4 of the disc, feels perfect now. how long is your thrust bearing sleeve ?
  6. yep the bolts were to short and not tight enough and the flywheel came loose, bolt head jammed in the clutch. the clutch hadnt been assembled correctly either it works 100% perfect now
  7. well ive just refitted the clutch with new arp flywheel bolts, it is better than ever, slave adjusted back to manufacturers position and the pedal is perfect biting point about 1.5" above the floor, no slip at all full bore in 3rd gear blew a ps pipe of now so spat oil everywhere but well chuffed tbh, only cost me £200 total for the ramp and some mechanics to help me.
  8. i have just found this passage from supra forums : I have had the RPS triple in for about 8 mo. I have only been at the track and on the dyno once with this clutch in. It held up great on the dyno putting down well over 900whp. I did not have any probs with it at the track either. Three times the failure with the Carbonetics clutch was with the Carbon coated metal plates (they are coated with carbon to help break in). They can't handle the heat and warp. It doen't take much warpage to lockup the clutch. I went through all of there break in pro's and warming of the clutch before runs. Carbonetics was with me during a lot of the testing at the track. They came out with the nine plate carbon carbon which has no metal plates between the carbon plates. They designed it this way due to the failures of the last clutches. If you talk to them now they will tell you not to use there clutches for drag racing. The million dollar one off proto type failed because the basket design. It could not handle the added plates which made the basket to long and weak it started to twist and shattered one disc. They had no spare parts for this clutch. They sent the clutch back to Japan to be inspected. I have not heard back from them so I dont think they are working on a fix. That clutch was the best clutch I have ever had and I wish they redesign the basket and bring it back. I will never say there clutches are bad in fact I like them just dont slip the hell out of them and you will be fine. these clutches are not good for drag racing as they dont like any slip, the metal plates warp easy.
  9. i put a thread on there too. im not bothered about pedal too much its not a daily just my toy i had a nismo twin in my skyline and that was awesome, it was slipping abit in the end but i launched the hell out of that car, clocked many 0 - 60 runs in 3.2 seconds. looking at my carbonetics on the kitchen floor the discs are like a piece of pottery, one small tap and it would shatter, doesnt give me any confidence in the clutch. i just want to get the best non carbon clutch there is if possible.
  10. my carbonetics is going back in to be used for abit but ive decided i am changeing it shortly. i have also come to the conclusion i dont like the fragile nature of these carbon discs so want a regular cerametalic clutch. the clutch im looking at is the os giken r4c quad plate, rated to over 1000 hp. for street use with occasional drag. just looking for any first hand experience of this clutch really.
  11. i have just micked up all the clutch parts carbonetics say if a metal plate is warped to 0.6mm or above it must be replaced. i have top cover warped to 0.508mm second metal plate warped to 0.22mm bottom plate and flywheel are perfectly flat. clutch plate wear total is 0.4mm across all plates, so it looks to me i have gained 0.7mm in warpage but lost 0.4mm in wear so only 0.3mm out from new which is acceptabe imo. and within carbonetics tolerances so fingers crossed it will be ok to go again.
  12. my clutch problem has turned out to be when the clutch was installed before i bought the car some muppet didnt torque the flywheel bolts correctly, a bolt has consequently come loose and fallen out jamming in my clutch and causing my engagement issues, to be fair to the clutch even after all this and some slight warpage of the top plate cover it still didnt even murmer a slip.
  13. i would just like to add in all fairness it isnt the clutches fault some numpty hasnt tightened up the flywheel properly and a bolt has fell out and jammed in my clutch damaging it !
  14. question is where can i get a set of flywheel bolts for it ?
  15. do your clutch plates show any signs of blueing jp ?
  16. its only the outermost plate that is major blue, flywheel and other plates look as new, i guess it was the outer most disc that was jamming by the bolt and thats whats caused the blueing where ive been driveing it around.
  17. heres the pics im hopeing to just refit with new flywheel bolts locktighted in this time, it had no slippage at all ever just engagment issues, just a little concerned about the blueing ?
  18. the metal plates between the carbon clutch plates have some blueing on them, im sure this is normal though isnt it especially at these power levels ?
  19. well ive just took the gearbox off and 2 of the flywheel bolts have come loose ! 1 of the bolts has come out so far that the clutch has smashed the head off the bolt and the bolt has been rattling around inside ! i think the bolt head has got jammed somehow and prevented the clutch from fully disengageing causing me my gear selection problems. the carbon plates look as new, the metal plates inbetween have abit of blueing but seem perfectly flat still. so it looks like just not installed properly, the flywheel bolts wernt even locktighted ! im tempted to just fit a new bolt and fit it all back in tbh.
  20. and another person with issues http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/143381-carbon-tronics-clutch.html?highlight=drag+clutch his car wouldnt go in gear either, he ended up having the plates skimmed and it worked ok then ?
  21. id agree but when jamie does run after run plus road/track on his rps all these other clutches should be the same, actually better as there even dearer !
